    If u are having problems at 6:23 with maya 2018, just change de distribution type of the MASH from linear to mesh

    Great tutorial! However there are some changes in maya 2018 that might be worth mentioning for everyone to follow along! The Mash "mute" node at 5:03 is now the "strengh" node in maya 2018 and the "input mesh" atribute at 6:24 is no longer displayable by default in the Mash distribute node until you select the distribution type to mesh. The rest follows the same! Great tutorial again and thank you very much for sharing!

    This is rly cool effect, but its quite useless when its only for a cube. Is it possible to do same effect e.g. on 3d letter "Q" or some sort of complex Logo using same tools?
    I suppose that might work with disintegrated polygons of some 3D model, but i bet the falloff effector would just mess things up.

    Hello sir, I did the same exact things, but when you created a second mesh and changed the distribution method to face center and I did the same thing, but the ripple effects meshes are scattered here and there and they are not stick to the face of the cube like it should be. I am doing this in maya 2020. The time is 6:23 of the video.

    Hi Ian,
    Thanks for the tutorial. MASH in maya is great.
    I was thinking of offsetting the animation based on the faces in the second MASH network so that the cube completes a bit later instead of all the faces at the same time.
    But adding time or delay didn't really change anything. DId I miss some point? Please suggest what can be done.
    Thank you.

    • @ianwaters6035
      @ianwaters6035  Před 8 lety

      Yes the Time node is what you want here. Have you got a scene you can send and I'll let you know what's up?

    • @GaneshGhale
      @GaneshGhale Před 8 lety

      The scene file is same as this tutorial. I was just trying to complete the transition one face at a time.
      So, since nested Mash wasn't working. I baked out an alembic for the first MASH network, then use that for second MASh on a cube and time function worked then.
      Thank you.

    • @ddemyanek
      @ddemyanek Před 5 lety +5

      I had this same issue and I was able to solve it. It seems that in Maya 2019 you must add a time node to the second Mash network - then make sure to change the Animation End input to at least 70. Hope this helps.

Which means I can't add the distribution node to it and therefore can't add it to the cube? can you help?
