garten5828 It’s basically the same transformation as the original ‘80s toy, with more detail. It had the barrel extension and shoulder brace back then, as well. A real cool toy.

The complexity to transform Megatron from a gun is amazing! I can't even imagine the process when they designed it!
It's freakly how well both transformed and robot state look - having all the little flappy bits actually help shape contours is amazing.

Gen 1 toys were truly awesome. The effort in engineering those was insane. I forgot how difficult they were to transform and often having to refer to the instructions

So all these g1 their making are Chinese knock offs or better made just more detailing and more functions. Go figure.

I loved them as a kid. Now as an adult looking at the design, just wow. The detail and steps needed. Transformers are a true classic and a work of art.

It's the best Megatron that transforms into the pistol I've ever seen.
I got the original as a gift, back in the 80's. What a pain to transform! As I recall, he ended up broken b/c we transformed him too much.
Back when transformers actually required some intellect and puzzle solving. Thanks for reminding me.

Believe me, touch toys edited this video to be 4 minutes. It took me an hour to turn him into a gun, and an hour to turn him back into a robot. That was partially because I was being careful to avoid paint chipping, but either-way if I wasn't being careful, it would still probably take me 30-40 minutes.

Imagine putting back all those pieces back in his gun mode.
This guy makes it look super easy lol. First couple times it took me around 45 minutes to go from bot to gun back to bot. I remember seeing a forum post back too about a guy wanting someone to face time him to walk him thru the steps cause he got half way thru and got lost lol.
@@Posit_Zero_Blue ^^this is legit, I remember being a kid and one of my friends got him, it took a circle of us looking at the directions to finally get him to robot mode, we couldn't figure out how to get him back to gun mode, we kept messing up and forgetting a small detail. Megatron was by far the hardest one to transform.

All these newer retro Transformers on touch toy clips make me want to collect toys as if I was 8 years old agian and Im 43 years old! This one is close to the original more plastic but spot on! #neato!
These are truly remarkable designs. A lot of Transformer designs have bulky bits sticking out, but these transform between two perfectly smooth forms.
When I was a kid Megatron was Jewell to find.

I still like the metal in the originals. Megatron had some weight and it felt cool in your hand. I wish they would make them with some sort of metal like the originals.

They do. Almost all of Takara's toys have metal feet, and usually some internal metal parts. It's amoung the reasons the figures are so expensive.

I'm so glad I grew up in the 80s when kids could be kids playing with toys that looked like real guns and not have to worry about being shot by the police. We could even bring them to school to play with on field day.
I'm an Mechanical engineer and for who ever created CAD model for this toy then maching the mold to turn it is into live will have all of my respect !!!
Now make it ten times smaller to fit Starscream hand.

It was 1990 summer, Transformer was on TV in China along with World Cup. A kid in my neighborhood had this toy. Pretty impressive. :)
It always bugged me how Megatron, Soundwave and others shrink when they transform.
I never did like Megatrons G1 transformation, it goes against his character.
@@TrueMohax a gun is the scariest thing that anything can transform into. How often does one transform into a knife? Transforming into any weapon of any kind is way scarier.

But having Megatron (specifically) transform into a gun doesn’t make sense. He needs somebody else to pull the trigger, much less hold him, and he Hates being used.
That’s probably why they made him into a Tank in future iterations.
@@TrueMohax that's what made him most dangerous. He was able to convince others to weild his power of destruction. His next transformation was a nuclear fusion cannon. He can pull the trigger himself now. Afterwards, He immediately destroyed Starscream, Somewhat Ultra Magnus, parts of Unicron, etc. Even as a tank and a jet, he can still fire his fusion cannon. Now, he's mobile.
TrueMohax Megatron was able to fire on his own. Just having Soundwave, or Starscream firing added that extra kick for viewers.
I just got one and it's my favorite toy of all time.
That energon mace at the end was a nice touch.

I had this Megatron toy in the late 80's, and the police took it when we got pulled over because it looked like a real gun lol.... these are the real toys.
Yeah, the original Megatron was released for a very short time here in Australia before being banned... I remember a kid or 2 having him at school and he was the shit back then 👍

i think i might have held 2 of those when i was young because i had a buddy who had a suplier who could get stuff from america and japan so he Always had the coolest toys, some where probably not sooted for kids tho
