A lot of people don't get. Toronto had a two year window before they hit a hard reset and rebuilt their core. Ibaka, Lowry, JVal all have two years left on their contracts. Derozan had 3. Those 4 players make the bulk of their cap. If Kawhi does leave after this year, Raptors hit the reset a year early. Those three contracts become expiring tradeable assets. Toronto won this trade. This a forward thinking and calculated risk taken by Masai. Toronto did Derozan dirty but "the game is the game".
