And he was a hit, he loves the kids and the kids love him. He has become an important member of staff as the purrformance manager, but he’s mostly there for the cuddles

I love how it is a certified natural response shared across the entire human race to say "oooh big stretch" whenever cats do that big ol' stretchy thing.
Anytime my cats meow, my entire family follows it up with “oh, big yawn”, and it’s invaded my vocab- now if I stretch or yawn, or someone I know does it, I’ll say “oh, big stretch /yawn” like I or them are the cat lmao

As a retired teacher from California, I would agree that now someone would complain. In the last 15 or so years that I taught, no classroom pets were allowed anymore. Allergies, fear of injury, etc. None of which happened with any of the animals I had.
what a wonderful story...im surprised no one has complained about allergies etc. it certainly is enrichment for the kids that isnt on the curriculum . empathy 101 at an early age is what we need. cudos to you
This is in the UK. If it was in the USa, there would probably have been lawsuits filed against the school, and by the time the Legal sharks got into it, there would be a class action lawsuit over a cat endangering children's lives, etc.
The kids probably don’t have allergies
Being allergic to animals is very very rare in the UK. In fact being introduced to a cat at that early age will probably stop them becoming allergic to cats.
@@johnwhite2293 Dust mites are the first cause of allergies in the UK, cats are the second--so not so "very, very, rare."
@@jenw9463 It can be the second most common, but if the overall allergy rate is very low it's still very rare. But yeah, probably not that rare, but also not that common that every other classroom has an allergic student. It probably also helps that it's a big space that that's easy to clean and is cleaned often.

@@LanaStefanovic47 Yes, one of my classes had a pet bunny when I was a child, and we students could take turns taking it home to take care of over the weekend. As an adult I've heard some horror stories of classroom pets getting lost, injured, or worse with this practice, but fortunately we never had that issue.
I love cats in schools or offices cause cats really are such a good destresser, and especially in the school. Macaroni both teaches kids how to interact with animals (important for a young age, especially people without pets-) and also acts as a mascot for the class! I love it, I wish I had a cat in my class, it would be such a nice breath of fresh air. I really can’t state enough how much I love the idea of air the kids learning how to be gentle and empathetic with this cat, cause he’s very calm and sweet and the kids are at an age where it’s so important that they learn how to be gentle and treat animals with respect, and they seem to be doing that a lot from this video :3
The story reminds me of Dewey the library’s cat from Spencer, Iowa. Instead of a library this cat is the mascot of a school.

Definitely UK. Schools there tend to let normal pets inside the building. Here in US most places, school, grocery stores, and hospitals included, aren’t pet friendly, meaning your pet needs to be a licensed service pet of some sort (Only dogs and cats are permitted service pets as of now in the US). So it’s definitely in the UK somewhere, up where all schools (public, private, and god knows where in between) have mandatory uniforms.
Sadly, Even here in the UK, where I live, sadly most grocery stores, hospitals and many other places only allow service animals like guide dogs only.

@@moominmay However, if it was all about hygiene only, I still don't understand why they would allow service animals in at all. As they are still dogs at the end of the day, whether they are doing a service or not. Plus, I have heard of a few cafes in America where they can dine with their dogs so, if they can do that hygienically, why can't more places follow their lead?
@@moominmay Although you are right that hygiene is meant to be ultra important in those places like hospitals, my mother has actually seen nurses come out of the bathroom and they hadn't washed their hands at all!

Dogs help people who are blind, certain medical conditions like diabetes and seizures, or have been through trauma. Service dogs, by federal law, are allowed in buildings. That include restaurants, cafes, nursing facilities, hospitals, schools, and public transportation like buses and airlines. There dogs go through months of training to get certified. Some businesses lost their licenses because they wouldn't allow service dogs in their businesses. Even some customers complain about them and the business tells them they are allowed by law.

Mom, in her senior years... happen to leave a pot on the stove with a full flame on stove..... the water burned down smoke began to build up in the kitchen....
