  • How to make a pole spear slip tip at home, in this video you will see how to make a pole spear slip tip, this spearfishing tip it is multipurpose because it can be used in different spears pole and all speargun and harpoons, it is safer because it avoids vibrations when the fish is hooked. I made it from stainless steel bolt and tube, from the bolt I made a pivot in one end and I put it inside the tube by pressure using a hammer, then I soldered the union with silver and the excess I rough it with a file, later I made the tip round, is less penetrate but it does not deform very easily when it hits a rock, then almost in the center I made a a flat cut with the hole where the cable is going to hold it with the rope. I hope you like the video and it is useful, because the sliding tips cost over 30 or over 40 dollars

I was thinking about how this could be done and had an idea and then thought to check CZcams. You have a great design!

Awesome video! I am making this new tip right now. It is great to see it done before I go to make it.
Also, I am trying to find a fishing partner in Salvador. Do you know any community forums, for Brazil, where people find other people to spearfish with?
    THANK YOU!

Oh no my friend, I live in Miami Florida, U.S.A., we practically have the same problem, I would like to have a fishing friend. Fishing underwater is dangerous to do it alone, I only know one group where I am that is from Brazil, it is called Tarrafa de pesca.

@@taranta My motorcycle and stuff is in Miami. LOL. I moved to Brazil and had to get a storage unit. It is the only place I go when I come back to the USA. I still haven't found anyone here. I even went to the scuba shop --they don't spearfish or even pole fish. Thanks!

thanks for posting this Do you use just a knot to attach the line or do you crimp it? Do you use wire or mono?

@@dindin5816 my friend, I can not put a photo in a comment, but I can tell you that I have three rifles one is american SEAC, another is Italian compressed air Mares and the other is that is a mixture between a pole spear and a speargun, a PALANTIC. The slide tip i'm doing is for the palantic, it's to capture more in less time.

Hola, Love your video and method you figure out with limited tools and materials
A little flux on the brazing joint , for some stuff like that, I cut a piece of solder and drop it inside the tube bottom . Just a thought.
Get a piece of leather or rubber for padding on Drill in vice.
Where are you located? I have lots of scrap metal if you want it, just pay shipping.
This video is great for people who think you need lots tools to make gear. Use what you have and create. Impressive.

How did you make the initial hole ?

    • @taranta
      @taranta  Před rokem

Sorry my friend, the camera does not record that part, but I recreated it in the minute 7:00 after I saw that it was not recording. What I did was scraping the side of the screw in a rectangular cut to flatten that part and the auger can make the hole in the center, anyway, flattening on both sides is better, to protect the string from breaking with a bone when penetrating

I don't think so, it's made of stainless steel. I bought the tube online and it is made of surgical stainless steel, the screw I made the tip is stainless steel marine grade, and the solder is silver, until today it has been fine.

Also, be aware of the different Quality/Grades of stainless steel. A very good stainless steel has a lot of nickel in it, so you want to go with a high nickel stainless. You can detrmine the grade with a magnet. The magnet will not stick to a high nickel stainless ----That is want you want.
You can get away with some magnetic attraction, but know that eventually it will oxidize. If you go to touch the stainless with the magnet and it almost rips the magnet from your hand, do Not use that stainless; it will rust almost immediately and there is no way to stop it happening.
