You don't necessarily have to use foil. When I open a lettuce head wrapped in plastic, I cut only along one surface. I make sure to keep that surface covered by the plastic, but I do not tightly wrap the whole lettuce. as I use the lettuce, I just peel off the outer wilted layers and continue using the lettuce until I have used it up. I discovered this years ago, and it keeps a head of lettuce fresh for weeks.

I put leafy greens in a baggie or container either the one it came in or in a zip lock bag. I put paper towel in the container usually on the bottom and top and it stays good a really long time. Moisture is your enemy when it comes to leafy greens. You can change out the napkins if they get too saturated.
I had heard covering a container of lettuce with a paper towel helps keep it longer. I have done that but it doesn't keep for 30 days maybe a week. I think I will try the foil but I will put it in an airtight container.

All my vegetables are wrapped in foil! Even celery, carrots, bell peppers, cucumbers, etc. And don’t wash items ahead of time, like Pam didn’t, only when ready to use. I figure the major health benefits of fresh and lasting veggies far outweighs the minuscule amount of possible aluminum. This was great!
