When I learned this (50 years ago! Watching Bert Jansch) I knew I could just about play the guitar good enough for someone listening to maybe enjoy it. I haven’t improved massively since then. But, hey ! I can always play some blues.
Best guitar teacher around. I've been playing 17 years. I'll admit I'm a good guitarist, I fucking should be after all this time, but, I've been lazy in my time. You have reminded why I have an unquenchable love for guitar. I'm playing more than ever. Keep being a legend. 💜
This is wonderful! I got your beginning guitar course a few months ago and it's wonderful. I'm so excited to see you branching out to song tutorials like this! You play so much cool stuff that I never would've tried playing if you hadn't introduced me to it, but this song is so cool!!!
just found your channel, and man, I am in. So much fun to try to follow along and learn and so many fun variations can be done from what you provide here. thanks!
I would urge anyone who's struggling with this to persevere, as it sounds and looks a whole lot more complicated than it is, and is so so much fun to play. If you can play it slow, you can play it fast! I've been following the other channel for years, and will be following this one, as I mainly play acoustic fingerstyle. If you read this Paul, thank you so much for all of the truly amazing teaching work over the years. I would recommend the intermediate course for those wanting to take things to the next level too. It was a fantastic way to spend the first UK lockdown, was worth every penny, and has given me a skill for life. Great beard as always too!
I was getting frustrated and almost gave up, then I saw this comment and it inspired me to keep trying a little bit more. One day later and I’ve got the first two bits! I am so happy. Thanks for the random encouragement, random stranger! ;)
@@EmJayPee Great! So glad this comment helped. Apply the motivation you had to learn this to other songs and techniques you previously thought outside of your comfort zone. You'll be amazed at how quickly things start coming together. Patience, perseverance, and practice. Then practice some more!
Paul, you are honestly the best inspiration for modern acoustic guitar playing in my point of view. I’m already on the acoustic adventure and I would really love to see more song tutorials by you
An amazing lesson from an amazing guitarist! thank you so much and yes please, lesson like this as really fun and super helpful keep enlightening us with your talent and your smooth personality.
I’ve been wanting to play this ever since I saw that video where you went through all the pieces that taught you guitar but I couldn’t find a good tutorial on CZcams! So glad you’ve done this Paul!! This is why you’re the best out there by a long shot!!
Awesome! I was actually searching for this tutorial from you three weeks ago after seeing your favorite finger picking video. Its like you read my mind! Thanks a lot. The entire Clapton unplugged series repertoire would be a great addition. Keep em coming! Big fan! Martijn.
Yes please do tutorials! You’re such a good teacher and I’m sure it has helped and will help a ton of people (I know it’s helped me). I appreciate everything you’ve helped me with more than words can express and can’t wait to learn more
This is an extraordinary lesson. Thank you Paul for your incredible teaching and guitar skills. This lesson not only helped me play the song but understand it as well, and got me excited about learning more blues.
I cannot describe with words, how sweet this guitar sounds. So exceptional I even looked it up what model you play. I never did this before in yt videos. So amazing
I will take all the fingerstyle acoustic bluesy lessons that you have to offer! It's a style of playing I've been desperate to learn but unsure where to start. Thanks for another great lesson. Hope you have a great day xx
I learned this once simplified, learned it from you much more beautifully after you posted this, now I came back and learned that opening bit by bit like you did and played with you, and that is amazing. You're strolling through and it's gorgeous to play exactly like that. I just played with you at the same time and it feel awesome. You're the man. I want to play with you live any day.
This song is one of the first blues songs I ever heard. It opened me to Robert Johnson, BB, SRV and so much more. Muddy, buddy, I can't thank you enough for this
Sweet, I missed some things when I first watched this. I’m gonna polish up on some things and I’m definitely adding the secondary way of playing it. The gift that keeps ons giving, thanks Paul 🙏🏻
Amazing how that chord progression accepts almost any note when you solo on top of it !!! Especially chroamticisms are most welcome: they eco those expressed in the chord progression itself. Thank you Paul for the 2 videos on this beautiful song that has remained somehow oral-tradition and undefined so long. Perfect shot, as almost any of your videos!
Paul, I’ve been gratefully following you since long before you made the whole-heated (yet half-certain) leap of faith into your CZcams-only career. We’re delighted with all you’ve been able to give us, confident that your splendid success springs from your extraordinary combination of talent, optimism and humility. Bless you, sir!
That Martin sounds amazing . Most Martin's do but this one's special that's for sure . Your an amazing teacher btw . Been playing over 20 years and I always learn something from watching u . Think I'm gonna sign up for some of your lessons
Paul Davis has excellent teaching skills. He puts the notes and he puts the tab and he shows you how to play it. That way you don’t get confused and you don’t see Jess fingers and knuckles going all over the fingerboard mini teachers on CZcams teach this method You can’t tell what they’re doing close up or not you can’t tell. No wonder beginners get confused Paul Davis you’re a beautiful teacher. Thanks for your video. I love it that’s the way you teach music the way you teach it.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎸🎼🎶👍🏼💖😎
This is great! Thanks a lot! Perfect timing too, I’ve been playing electric guitar for years but just bought my first acoustic (a Limited edition Taylor 714).
I love your teaching style. A big fan. I am a retired band and orchestra teacher who studied jazz and classical guitar in college. Excited about learning acoustic steel string guitar songs. Thanks so much for this upload. I will learn it! 🎶
Thanks, really. You have no idea how much horrible stuff i have going on and how hard i work, guitar is my escape from all that. Youve gave me something to work on for a few minutes before i got to go back to the real world. I knew the chords strumming with the chromatic walking, but now i can busy my mind with learning your finger style version instead of thinking about all my problems.
Auch plz do more tutorialsss You are SO talented, and your music is just amazing. I learn so much from you, and I can't wait to learn moree So first thank you so damn much, and please do more of thesee🙏🙏
Yeah man, if you're doin acoustic fingerstyle on channel 2, I'm all in. Bring it.

I too like Lime and White!
When I learned this (50 years ago! Watching Bert Jansch) I knew I could just about play the guitar good enough for someone listening to maybe enjoy it. I haven’t improved massively since then. But, hey !
I can always play some blues.
The fact that Clapton plays this while singing will boggle my mind forever
Bru just learn it so well that you can play it without thinking ur next moves , im trying to do that 🤤
@@akemdam9824 can you play it so wel alreayd? (i just started )
En realidad, Clapton no lo toca así.
But why ? It’s a easy song with basic chords.
@@fatttony9156And you don’t have to fingerpick it.
My favorite guitar teacher teaching one of my favorite blues tune?
Absolutely...
