    The problem with a trench coat is it is an outdoor piece. Indoors one removes it and is still left to the cool atmosphere. I mean that wearing a cardigan or blazer is better

    Layering is key to looking fashionable and staying warm. The layering seasons are my favorite to dress for and I love adding scarves to my outfits. I think the off white v-neck sweater on it's own with the light wash denim jeans look so nice on you. To be honest all the other outfits are so dark and blah. You can wear lighter colors in fall too.

    Lots of great guidelines for Transitional Wardrobes for sure; however living in Canada as I do I can probably count on both hands the number of times I've worn a Trench Coat as avoid such as much as possible since our Winters are so cold 'n long which demand long lengths of outerwear. In other words; therefore much prefer jackets and blazers as an overlay during the Summer to Fall season and/or light weight sweaters of various styles and blends.

    • @deborahcurtis1385
      @deborahcurtis1385 Před 11 měsíci +1

      It's still worth it to get at least one silk shirt even of not that brand. Even when on a budget (when am I not? answer: never!) I get something high quality each year no matter what. This means you gradually over the years, build a wardrobe that works. If you can manage it, get those items in the sales. If you calculate the number of times you wear an item it quickly pays for itself if you divide that into the price you get price per wear. A cheap item will start to look shabby much more rapidly than a more quality item. Then you stop wearing it. So the price per wear is actually higher because of the turnover factor. Worth thinking about.
      I buy preloved items, but for things like shirts and shoes usually buy new.
      Oh I also buy end of season new and plan at the start of a season, what I need to get by putting all my things out and work out which ones I'm missing that will make my existing wardrobe 'sing'. For instance I have a silk chiffon blouse that is light coloured leopard print. It's just essential to lift my wardrobe, and I mislaid it at one point and was a bit stressed wondering how to replace it. There was nothing comparable out there! It was bought in a sale and I absolutely love it.
      So quality accessories or a blouse can really lift an otherwise slightly drab outfit. I buy the best quality I can afford in the sales instead of going super cheap, on those key items. I hope this helps! Feeling for everyone in this position. We need to swap tips and help eachother with morale.
      PS I also keep all my items in top condition and clean my shoes and bags with conditioner and colour rejuvention creams. Sometimes moving a button or replacing buttons on an old jacket will lift it with minimal cost.

    The really hard part of transitioning from summer to fall where I live - Alabama USA - is that the calendar May say fall, but the temperature is blazing hot! I love wearing a jacket, blazer, or sweater, but when it’s miserably hot that isn’t possible. How do you deal with excessive heat in the fall and not look tacky or like you’re dressed for July? My only idea is wearing fall colors but that’s still boring, and autumnal colors in light weight fabrics can be hard to find.

      Oversized linen shirt can double as a jacket, with a closely fitted t shirt or singlet underneath. You can then switch the singlet to long-sleeved and belt the shirt to look like a jacket with a wide belt. Living in Australia here and I find linen is fantastic because it breathes and you hardly notice it in the heat but inside air-conditioning it keeps you warm. I have several, in white, tan and blue. I also wear denim shirts as a jacket in the same way. It also keeps the sun off your skin and is far cooler than wearing a flimsy singlet, but you can get the wear out of a singlet that way also. Try wearing the linen shirt as a jacket over a dress, left open, it can look great particularly in white. I'm thinking of expanding to get one in black linen as well. Best of luck with it.

      Good to know, I haven't tried this brand but I usually take a size bigger for length and shift the buttons on the neck to tighten it. Also I make darts in the front and back to give a larger size more shape. Usually I'm UK12 but can take up to a 16 with alterations, my shoulders are also wide so need a bit more elbow room. It's a pain really but then again if you're tall you can play a lot more with your look.

    I have one more question why do women I don’t know if they do it in France I don’t know it’s classy women do it but I see women everywhere going out to lunch going out everywhere in leggings that you go to the gym and exercise in why I wish you would do a video on that because I personally think it’s so unclassy, we in America the women need to class up

    • @deborahcurtis1385
      @deborahcurtis1385 Před 11 měsíci

      I dislike the term 'classy' using it is the opposite it's a bit gauche. "Well dressed", "stylish" or "chic" all convey the term far more effectively. But you're absolutely correct about most French women who definitely change from their gym clothes and would not wear them as causal wear. On the other hand Americans popularised jeans and now they're ubiquitous, even in Paris. But worn in a chic way.

      I still like the word classy , oh yes , yeas ago I mean over 30 years ago when ( even now) when I wear or wore jeans I dressed them up to look dressy , chic as you would say. I just think we women in America can do better. I mean women wear pajamas to Walmart. I mean the way women dress in America just blows my mind. I have always been this way, even young. I mean, I get up in the morning and get dressed put my jewelry on ,look nice even if I’m gonna work in the garden, that’s just me, but I do think women in America could learn to take a little more pride in their self.

    • @deborahcurtis1385
      @deborahcurtis1385 Před 11 měsíci

      It's very American to say classy but to the English or French this is the opposite, it's declassé.@@marieleemcgill5011 I agree that the casual look has gone way too far. But also there is a colossal gap between rich and poor, and the poor no longer care to try to pretend they don't bother to keep up appearances. Or they pretend with a fake Louis Vuitton and some pajamas...lol!
      People don't realise how much better you feel when you make an effort with your clothing. but on the other hand if you're fighting homelessness, then clothes are just a burden and wearing nice and chic is not a priority. These are the times we live in.

      I think the proportion of the jacket cuts her off and makes her look shorter. It's also a bit old fashioned. the longer lines and more matching tone of the other jacket are more flattering. Basically if you have a high contrast between the top and the bottom and it cuts off at the hip it shortens your overall frame. Hilary Clinton always wore jackets to cover the hip after she worked that one out and would go all over in the same colour for jacket and pants, it was a look she became famous for. But you can do it with keeping to a darker or lighter tone, it works much better, Hilary's look is dated now everyone is doing the tonal thing or doing more loose jackets.
