  • Neuroscientist Daniel Wolpert starts from a surprising premise: the brain evolved, not to think or feel, but to control movement. In this entertaining, data-rich talk he gives us a glimpse into how the brain creates the grace and agility of human motion.

So important, so ignored, "we have a brain so we can move" I love that concept

This is one of the best TED vids I've seen so far. Although about the comparison between humans and computers to reveal our ability of movement, dexterity and hand eye coordination as something supposedly exceptional: Think poker, natural language (conversation & literature), mathematical proofs and theorems; and then think cruise missile, industrial robotic arms, an office inkjet printer. It doesn't reverse the point but it does nullify it.

The brain evolved to develop new fetishes for sex.
