Are you gay?
I bet someone else got over charged for the items you walked out with.
You followed the system, so you didn't steal. Don't feel bad about it at all.
And, don't give them extra money. You paid for your items honestly. If they charged you less, that not your fault, and you get to keep the money and items.
I think you made a big mistake giving the store additional money.
Are you crazy? Amazon got caught stealing tips from their flex drivers. They only paid a settlement fine when they got caught.
But, you are worried about stealing from Amazon when you made an honest purchase.
@@hax0rbugan670 That’s uncalled for
Jeff Bezos could sure use those $25 for his next happy meal
No one’s going to waste their time that works at a multi million dollar company to charge you for stuff that isn’t even technology. Just enjoy and it move on with the money you saved from it….
It's going to add up...there's a problem...
Taking items and not paying for it is a theft so him going back to the store and telling them about what happened was the right move.
@@seanelias6478 no he doesn’t have to spend money on gas and inconvenience his self to go back bc they’re technology isn’t perfected yet. especially with gas prices how they r today. it’s not stealing unless he was purposely tryin to do sum to “trick” the system.
There is no such thing as a free thing. Sure, Uptin will get it free but these costs get passed on to all customers. It would be ideal if they can get this tech to work properly.
Will be fixed. Real people will be honest and return the difference
Would be awesome if Amazon reaches out and they can do like a behind the scenes with you and go over what happened and how they're working on fixing it
omg it would be soo good
If one guy is accidentally getting away with it, I'm guessing a lot more KNOW how to get away with it.
I wouldn't be surprised you see this quietly get scrapped at some point. It's coming.
Yup. Four years later, this is absolutely on Amazon and Starbucks.
You did what you were supposed to do.
In a court setting (and this would NEVER, EVER get that far), the judge would likely side with you.
Thanks for the vid.!
I am loving these tech videos! You bring up a great point questioning if this technology is ready for a mass roll out. I likely would do the same and try to come clean with Amazon/Starbucks but it’s surprising there isn’t a survey evaluating your experience. I would be excited to see this rolled out further but hope the quality enhances! Keep up the great work Uptin!
Thank you for this comment Gary, i'm happy you enjoyed the video!
Thank you for your honesty, I wonder how it'll get sorted out.
They definitely have accounted for loss from the technology. They aren’t selling the items on the shelves, what they’re developing is this technology of people-less brick and mortar transactions, and THAT will bank them way more returns on the snacks they gave for “free.”
Ok this one was very good & interesting. Different style and really enjoyed it! You just keep getting better & better 💚
Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for your honesty. Keep us posted if you hear further!
Will do! Thanks for watching
A couple of years ago, I went to an Amazon Go store to explore. After I left the store, it took about one hour to get the receipt. At that time, I seriously think someone was manually reviewing the footage to figure out what I grabbed. If it is computer vision and other technologies, it should not take that long to process.
Interesting... Just like any new product there's sure to be problems. Just like you said, " If it's happening to me, what about all the others that go unaccounted for?". It'll be eye opening how Amazon addresses this issue as it seems to be a glaring one. Thanks for this.
*It will get better over time. In the world of product management, this is called an MVP - a Minimum Viable Product. I am sure Amazon has been testing it for a while and has been trying to make it as accurate as possible. This is the future, but it will take some time before it becomes ubiquitous.*
You don't want to steal from the worlds richest man because you feel guility lmao...
I love this concept so much. I really want to test it myself
Could you try voice agent assisted drive thrus? I believe McDonalds has some around Chicago
when it becomes a HUGE pain in the ass to pay for things when YOU have to tell them they screwed up… how far is the average person gonna go to deal with something thats a huge pain in the ass that shouldn’t be…
Humans are out of control. I have had a similar experience with the local Tide Cleaners wash and fold service. Sometimes they bring back all my clothes and sometimes they don't. One month they totally did not charge me for laundry. At all. I had to call them and paid the bill. If you have 2 bags of laundry, and one is not ready, they will deliver one and not charge you. When the second one is ready, it just shows up with no bill or explanation as to its whereabouts. I could go on but the point is the people who should be making the system work are incapable of understanding what is going on so they donot do anything. I'm surprised they are still in business.
Is there any update on this story? did they reply?
Wow, I am shocked that there is no procedure for people making corrections on what they have been charged. Did nobody at corporate think about that?
if there is no discrepancy at the store, it means they charged someone else for the items you took lol
It balances out since most perishables are thrown out when expired and damaged and they do throw away thousands of dollars worth of food. They also have insurance so you are fine.
The Philippines and Japan has a few of these cashierless stores. I'm curious how successful they are or if they have the same unpaid items problem.
What are the names of the stores?
So what happens when they start over charging you??
The Cashless stores discriminate agains the poor and elderly. A good % of people rely heavily on Cash for many reasons. These stars are basically saying "You can't buy our product because you only have Cash, well only accept people of privilege here".
Man i have all types of payment options ,i always prefer cash for superfluous things because cash makes me stop spending .
That’s crazy.
How your communication skill are so good to listen and make understanding easier can you help me how I can develop my skill too.
Please reply
Yeah, the lost would be make up with market dominance. Now I know why I don’t have one in Little Rock.
Lol you didnt steal. They didnt build their checkout right. Not worth you giving up your additional time and effort because of their mistakes.
In reality this happens when a store is new, and it is written in for the most part. This is why they typically don't have a case to report it.
All of the data and descrepancies (hence the extra staff to scan and update inventory) are reviewed by a team who looks for these tech errors. From there it improves drastically and rapidly as they update the system, cameras, and software.
These errors are considered the cost of deleveopment.
I use an Amazon Fresh 1-2 times a week near me for most of my grocery shopping.
During the 1st month it did make errors, always in my favor (almost like if in doubt they just mark it off).
For the last 10 months it has been spot on accurate to a T regardless of which family member goes in or which kids I take with me.
When new the system is in learning/debugging phase.
After a bit it's fine tuned. Now the only mistake it makes is product variance (eg got a chocolate donut, and it thought I got sprinkles).
Free cake pops… sign me up lol.
LMAO
they should weigh you yourself too to avoid errors. That being said they weigh you when you enter the store and then when you leave as well.
This man did a lot of over action in the video. Like he is some superior person and other are thugs 🤣
Glad you're trying to do the right thing. I wouldn't bite even if you didn't try to pay though 😆
HAHA
I wish i can visit usa one day
cmon bro don't tell them my secrets, i've been eating them ferreros since a while
My guess is that the cameras were following you until you got the coffee, then probably because of the time filming they just thought you were a different person afterwards, so it didn't got charged on you.
Its not considered stealing if you didn't get caught, yet....
like most of the politicians?
Or could the charge be on some other guest receipt? Not good either way. I will stay with in person customer service cashiers for now.
Amazon will just write it off as a loss.
so basically you should do your grocery shopping right there, get like $400 of stuff for like $50 maybe
The camera system has to track your movement all the time, maybe due to your long stay, it lost you somewhere in the middle, that´s why it can´t assign the items you took to you, as you are an "unknown person" for what the system knows, at it can´t trace back your path too the scan during entering the store.
Just my poor idea of how the system works: All the cameras know their location in space, they all run a neural network which detects people / persons. The info where a person is seen is relayed to a central programm/service, having all the infos, you can track the movement of persons over time by just doing nearest neighbor between frames + a majority vote between camera tracking info. Once you enter the shop, you are "identified" by your scan of the app / credit card, then your path is followed, if an item removal from a shelf is detected (scale underneath the shelf most of the time) that item is put on the receipt of the person standing next to that shelf.
If your "path" is lost during your shopping tour, maybe because you left the cameras field of view, or were not detected as a person from the cameras angle (hat, sitting down on a table), all items taken after the "tracking loss" are not assigned to your receipt, as the system can´t be sure who you are, as it can´t trace back your path to the entrance where you scanned your app / card..
Since your channel begining i am following you. Your contents are excellent. We await to see you in turkey again because after you visited turkey the economical stuation worsened and inflation is higher than that time.you should make a new content of economy in turkey
So, how many people will do what you did only not come back to pay for the free items? 🤔
Wait, doesn’t NYC have a law saying a store can’t refuse cash? It’s a dumb law, but how does Amazon get around it?
Jeff Bezos: Somebody write that down
So just seen video where basically Starbucks/Amazon Slave Ship is working the employees that cook and make drinks like slaves. So yeah this isn't a good thing people. 😕
You should have taken the whole store
They are making it up with the overpriced food and other revenues. Basically how discounts work too.
They should allow you to use a Starbucks gold card or somehow get stars
He turned himself in for the views. Make more money w/the ad rev. Than w/the items you didn't get charged for.
I'm not as confident as you are, Uptin, that the technology will eventually "be fixed"; the format itself may just be asking for trouble: small snack items in a coffee shop? C'mon. Is machine vision supposed to have seen you slip those snack bars in your pocket and counted them accurately? I doubt that Kind bars are RFID tagged, so I don't believe any radio-frequency pairing (product-to-you) is happening. Most people are honest; I admire your approach - but I could see the result coming a mile off: Big Corporate is testing these ideas and calculating aggregate sales vs loss. They are hoping to avoid labor-intensive tasks such as reviewing receipts or ringing it up correctly in the first place. The format may never fly nationwide. Also: you shouldn't be eating Ferrerro Rocher for breakfeast. Too rich. Thanks, great video. I Subscribed.
Im a shift, and I steal drinks from starbucks all the time 🤪 by not marking them out
You're the nicest thief 😂
well to me, it feels like they don't even bother solving your issue, lol
Yeah it's too much work apparently lol
You really think they gonna do anything 😂
I think it’s because you have different clothes where in you removed your jacket for 2nd time you pick the items so that it think it’s a different person 1:05 to 1:16
Good choice, I would have gone back too.
Interesting story
The humanless convenience stores in China seem to work better than what I’ve seen here
Y
Well you returned to the store trying to do the right thing. They couldn't really figure it out so... I say just enjoy the extra snacks. You made a video about their store so you advertised really well for them. No worries just know you did the right thing. Also I don't know if I'd like this way of shopping because this feels like it would give me anxiety lol.
You sounded really neurotic around 0:45. 🤣
LOL
My assumption is someone else got charged instead of you, so you owe someone else now
Ooh, good theory!
omg I feel bad now, but how would this have happened
It's food not bars of gold.
Plot twist: AMZN did this on purpose so they’ll have leverage over you for ever 😈
This technology is not going to work.
M8 just be glad you got the stuff for free 😀.
lol
@@uptin thanks for your reply bro. Keep making interesting content 👌
Now everyone is going to go there for free stuff.
😂 1 trillion so...
I will do the same! Because stealing is a bad thing!
He followed the system, so It's not stealing.
Who's fault for not charging.dont be a fool
OOOH HE STEALING!!1!1
I'd be dragging you straight to jail!
Just kidding... Under the legislation I am trained under you made all reasonable efforts to pay for the goods you had taken from the store. I wouldn't of been able to prosecute you because you were invited to pay in the chosen method by the retailer. It is not your fault the payment for the goods was 'interrupted' by a technical glitch. It would become a civil matter between you and the retailer if they wanted to obtain full payment.
But since you were honest enough to go back/contact the retailer, if you made myself aware of it I'd put a note on your file so next time anything like this happened again it would stand you in good stead.
sweet 🤷🏼♂️
That's marketing!
If everything went smoothly, chances are you wouldn't be creating this video, and even if you did, it likely wouldn't have garnered such widespread attention. They've got their strategy down pat. A trillion-dollar company keeps track of every single penny to make its next trillion!
Once they capture a sufficient audience, you can bet they'll iron out any wrinkles and make the whole experience seamless. ;)
If items not accounted for are less then conventional with cashiers (theft, not accounted for, etc) it’ll still be a success for Amazon/Starbucks. They won’t bother designing a way for you to report items not charged. It would cost them more then waiting for people to be honest (or notice) they were undercharged. 🤷♂️
Pretty sure if the manager doesn’t know what to do and if there isnt an option to add the items back to the receipt. Starbucks and google won’t taste their time to try to charge back the items that you “stole”. This is new technology and usually works in your favor so it’s more of a score than a malfunction. Not your fault I’d go back and get more stuff just bc of that reason ahhahaha
LOL
china 2.0
This is a stupid idea. Just like cars that drive themselves
You talk like amazon and Starbucks are going to be bankcurrup because you steal a couple of chocolates
