#Skateboarding #Podcast #Interview - Zábava
I love when dudes who are complete legends speak with humility. This dude has accomplished so much but he speaks from a place of gratitude not ego.
absolutely . his skating has been at such a high level, and he has constantly kept up with the times. . plus all the stuff he has done off the board. . All the while, he has always been a really down to earth dude !!! . Ive had the pleasure of meeting him a couple times, and he was more than gracious to get into a conversation. So; I def agree, just a really good, humble dude that has accomplished so much and doesn't wave it in the faces of people. . .peace, Eric
the real deal
yep, not like that much anymore.
Benjamin Lander you put this perfect. Humble beast
Humility? Did you mean humble? He is a legend, from my city too. It's great seeing how far he's come from where he started, these streets here are so unforgiving.
Anyone else love the way these episodes just go on forever!? I love it personally.
My best friend of 25 years, grew up skating, snowboarding and playing soccer with, along with every other facet of life, recently passed away and Geoff was his all-time favorite skater and watching this was just pure nostalgia and was such a great interview. R.I.P. Mike Chernikoff
Sorry about your loss.
That sucks man. My best friend passed as well. It hurts. Hope you’re doing alright
This comment hit close to home. Hopefully time has healed/filled a bit of that void in your life 🙏
Guys really from the bottom of my heart not to sound too cheesy thank you for getting this man on the show it’s extremely special to me
all them cheesy fan out/skate nerd moments is what it's all about famo.👍
You said it bros... We're here together, lets all hold hands.
It’s not cheesy man. We all feel that way I think.

Please make this mans pro model shoe a constant Vans. Ya'll tripping. Thanks nine club!
Tony Nguyen I remember in middle school having a pair of these brown/black vans forgot which style they were called but different from eras and old schools and oh my god they were my favorite pair ever.
Pleeeeaaaase put the Rowley XLT back in regular production Vans, one of the sickest shoes ever. Rowley square was sick too!
I remember having his 2nd pro shoe when I was in 1st grade had to be 2000 or 2001 I didn’t even know who this dude was, just remember his name was on my show lol I started skating a few years later
The model sitting behind him was my favorite all time shoe. Miss it so much! Remake it with better impact protection and its the perfect shoe :D

when are we going to get the john cardiel on the nine club?
that would be amazing!

no fuckin way the legend himself real deal right here last of a rare breed
I don't get how there are any dislikes on this video.. kids these days just love to hate.
@@villiantwo exactly the way things were for these guys in this time and where it took them fuckin epic
Geoff Rowley and his love for skate inspired me to gift my daughter a board Christmas of 2020...and she is now immersed....at 7 she is starting to put it together...standing kickflip and heels...on lock...working on standing switch kicks and heels...and soon rolling kicks and heels!!!one proud dad over here!!!
Dude that is so rad!! I have two daughters and can only hope to skate with them someday
I love hearing Geoff talk so proudly of Liverpool
Rowley '99 classics are one of my personal favorite shoes, and this dude is so cool. Great one nine club!
My favorite shoe I ever had was a pair of XLT's.
Can't wait for these!
I hope they re-release that pair
XL2. The red, and fret pair. So light, and best kick flips i ever had.
Rowley is one of my favorites ! He is a gentleman, articulate, spontaneous, and great in interviews. Great work The Nine club !
This guy's a legend...can't wait to watch this one.
this is the Exact thought that went through my head when I seen the notification . . lol
fucking legend mate
"When the spots get that big, you gotta pretty much be fine with passing."..... LMFAO... classic Rowley
"...you mean like 'away?' "
Crob in astonishment
sometimes you take the weekly nine club for granted....then you realize they have been killing it for years now. you guys are the best! I am 30 minutes in and its already super sick. geoff is the man!
I'll never forget skating HB skatepark late one night with my friends-we were all terrible at that time. Rowley popped in for a quick session and my friend asked him to play skate, completely egoless and friendly he said sure. Rowley whipped my friend's ass without question, but he was one of the most down to earth skater's I had ever met. I had posters of Rowley in my room and it was amazing to see he was actually quite human and humble. Thanks for the years of inspo Rowley!
Cool man. Use to go to HB skatepark near the school back from 1998-2000 with friends. There was also a small skatepark not too far from there too.
@@tiefighter3445 Thats right around when I was going too! Small world. The small skatepark is Murdy, or as it was called, "the Ashtray".
I used to skate that park from 96-99 ish. In high school. Always saw Ed Templetoon and Toan Nguyen among others. What a great time. It was so hard to get speed and set up for that pyramid.
I went to the park earlier and ended up teaching a young kid learn his first B/S boardslide on a flat bar and that made my day
my god, thank you....i am literally screaming right now, Bob Burnquist next, and my life is complete!
Arto too!
@@DarwinBoys1 arto doesn't remember shit bro

@@timtamholic555 is that really an issue with him? I know he took some serious slams but didn't know how bad it's really affected him
Geoff was a true innovator. In the time of puffy marshmallow shoes, he was the only person making slims... and they worked.
The rowley in navy blue. Best shoe ever.

I remember him when I was a teenage skater in Liverpool, he was “little Geoff” back then. He was sick then. Better than me and all my mates by some distance and we were serious skaters.

Sorry , really sorry , yeah right , almost round 3 , and Baker 3. Are the best 2000s skate videos!!!
@@CallOfApache I'd add Menikmati to that list also
@@CallOfApache yeah glad to say i bought all of those they give me chills to this day those videos really. Sealed the deal and made me fall deeply in love with it. Sorry,Really Sorry, Yeah Right, Good and Evil, That's Life, Baker 3
The SORRY! video did for skateboarding what gas engines did for cars. That video hit the skate world like a meteor 😲
Get Arto Saari now. Lets get the old flip guys. Legends
Selbunils flip reunion?! 🤯
the queen should've honoured to make Rowley sir. Rowley
Actually Penny totally shoud be knighted. Like in all seriousness.
I'm British I will ask her when I see her for tea and scones in London town
Geoffs honestly the best ever. A young, 13 year old me bugged the shit outta him prolly one day by knocking on dudes door in HB, but he answered and not only gave me ricta shirts, autograpghed my hat and took a pic with me all smiles and high 5’s. Thanks for being a positive role model Geoff!!! 🍻
Wow, Geoff has such good memory to recall his journey through skating. I was glued the whole time. Amazing.
I currently have strep throat and can't sleep. This is exactly what I need. Thank you guys
hope you feel better homie

Munchell360 what up buddy!
Not sure how clear it is sometimes when some older guys talk about the ‘94-95 era but Geoff and Tom’s skating were massively progressive. Went five stairs bigger than everyone with speed and clean style.
Rowley and Rune Glifberg were the Flip idols
Yessss
Gotta add Penny
For my first real board, I picked out the Flip Geoff Rowley "magic cat" with 7.75 Ventures. Shop wheels, bearings. Crazy how much happiness a complete can make a kid.
Favorite skater of all time the goat Geoff Rowley forever
You can just feel the passion through his conversation. Much respect and has been a huge inspiration since my younger days.
It was really interesting to hear that he also had these other hobbies and interests. Very inspiring guy. Rowley's the man. Thanks Nine Club.
Rowley has been my favorite skater since I was in 5th grade. I'm 28 now, and I still have so much respect for this man. Dude has so much heart for skating.
People like Geoff and Tom penny make me proud to be British.
The biggest secret is that the best skaters are from the UK. It's actually true. Ofc Penny but also Alex Moul, John rattray, and tons of others.
@@alexfriedman2047 tom penny is a secret ?
@@robertlund5694 Did you read my comment? Or just randomly feel like saying something? I said the secret is that *all* the best skaters of all time have been from the UK. Alex Moul, Tom Penny, Rowley, countless others. Just my opinion but the UK has produced such talented skateboarders.
legend and very well articulated educated, this guys born to inspire a nation of skaters
Those sturrs right thurr. Ripped em. It was gnarly.
-- Geoff Rowley, always, everywhere. Forever.
The word legend gets thrown around way to much because that word should be kept only for a few people and Geoff Rowely is definetly one of them.
My favorite skater of all time! Sorry and Really Sorry are 2 of the best skate films of all time 🔥 Thanks Geoff for taking time, loved it mate.
This man has an inner energy. Again, thank you all @The9 for all you do,...including those behind the scenes!
These long interviews with "older" skaters are the best. Mike V and Jamie Thomas were also amazing
I think I’ve listened to the Jamie Thomas one 4-5 times at this point. Dudes a great story teller, and has plenty of them.
damn old Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Lemmy from Motorhead stories to start this off. We are off to a good start!
Old flip sorry videos are my favorite thing in skating love hearing stories about those days and all that happened to the team
"I got this one body right now and I'm gonna run it".

Raw, in your face skateboarding.
Like the z-boys but severely insane.
More uk skaters please !! Much love from London . The show just keeps getting better and better

it would be rad if you could edit footage of the tricks and spots you talk about with the skaters into the interview even if you only do it once or twice

I back this
Penny???
Loads of respect for Geoff.
Im from Liverpool too, I wish it was how Geoff describes it (im about 10 years behind Geoff in age) and by the time I was learning to skate I can vouch for the fact skate culture was massively frowned upon by just about everyone in the late 90's/early 2000's, especially by other youths as it was misunderstood as a "mosher/goth/emo" thing and therefore weird and met with hostility.
Kids would get together to skate in the city centre a mere 10 minute walk away from where Geoff bought his first skateboard at Probe Records, and all of the tracksuit wearing hoodlums would turn up to fight the skaters and steal their boards even though they were doing no harm... just like the mods with their scooters being attacked by teddyboys back in the 50's and 60's.
Needless to say I never did learn to skate as it just painted a target on your back 😒 Best thing Geoff ever did for his career was move away from Liverpool.
Otherwise we may not even know who he is today.
Lots of love for my city but it was narrow minded and wouldn't accept trends which were seen as being... overly american
Unless of course it involved guns or violence 😡 which is cool
I was a skater in Liverpool at that time and yeah, it was rough. We had abuse daily but we were all close knit and looked out for one another, you could always find a mate at the pier head.
This was an awesome one. As soon as it was over, I watched Geoff's part in Really Sorry and then because of his mention I followed up with Streets of Fire. Sick job you guys are doing with this podcast.
What an awesome interview ! Rowley really knows how to keep a conversation going, 3 hours flew by.
We need either a Natas or a Sheffey episode pronto
Geoff Rowley In THPS 4 / London :
“ Bleedin coppers wont let us bleedin skate anywhere ya know what I mean “
My friend met this guy at a skate demo and got em to sign a flip poster for me back in 05 I still got that poster. They said he was the coolest guy ever
Geoff is a legend, from my city too. It's great seeing how far he's come from where he started, these streets here are so unforgiving so I completely understand what he means when he skated America for the first time. Loved the shoutout to Lost Art, Dave Mackey and Ash Wilson have kept that store going through thick and thin, nicest guys who truely love and have a passion for skating and the scene as a whole. I first met them when I started skating in 2007 and since then to now, I've never seen them without a smile on their faces or heard them speaking a bad word about anyone.
Ash and Mackey deserve an Epicly Latered for what they've done for Skateboarding in England.
