Very nice. I have realized I need to put one of these up now for both my 2 year old and the puppy 🐶. Which lock would you go with for child resistance? The slide bolt maybe?
This is all new to me how do you know the measurements and how do you measure the center brace for a gate? What angle is it cut at? I have tried cutting serval and I just can’t get it wasted a whole 2 x 4 trying to try to get the right cut just can’t do it. I need some help please.
Should have made it 1” higher then the railing so a 2x6 could be put on top to match… Now the gate is lower than the railing and probably doesn’t meet code… besides the fact that technically now you need a landing before the stairs, because of the gate you need a level surface to walk through
That backround noise at the end is awsome
Remember the direction of the cross brace is important.
Which direction should it be? My instinct was he put it the wrong way and the higher side of the brace should be in the hinge side.
The way he did it is correct, your hinge is the most secure point. Bracing the load Vs. Hanging the load
Always start bottom of brace at hinge side to keep compression
Great work
If only the video was more about the gate, and less about tool shots
At least 45° the pickets on top
I'm going to try it
Clean1!!👍

Corner mitres just screwed outside aren't going to last long
Sure would be great if you would have explained the process step by step
He has a full video which he did a great job of explaining.

Meet code psshhhh it's his house f code
Jesus Loves You
But I love you more
@@DustinHillegass-ib2ew that's impossible
Cross brace backwards
Lol
It’s a crappy built gate anyway… The 45 corners are not going to hold for long, they should’ve been a least lap jointed
Comment above says you are wrong, now which one of you is correct?
I have no fuckin idea just trying to learn myself!
True
@@DustinHillegass-ib2ew The up part is where the hinge should be. If it is done the other way then it can collapse.
Wrong
Nice
