- Helldivers 2 just released a brand new patch and here's everything you need to know about patch 01.00.300. This patch features a lot of weapon balances, enemy adjustments, and more! My favorite thing from this patch would be the revamped punisher plasma and I'm very curious as to how people will think about the enemy patrol changes.
Curious to what you all think about the patch and the changes so share your thoughts and opinions in the comments!
UPDATE: This an edited video of one I uploaded earlier. A lot of you pointed out in your comments certain things that weren't correct so I unlisted that video and remade it to make sure that I'm not spreading misinformation and shout to those who helped in catching those errors:

Looking to refer to the Official Discord for further patch reviews haha. Steam patch notes had some issues but using it as my sole reference was an oversight on my part.
Like, comment, and subscribe if you enjoyed! It helps out a lot!

9:42 the devs stated that the patrol spawn rates have been tweaked so that they would scale properly for the number of players.
Before the patch:
- 4 players (100% spawn rate);
- 3 players (80% spawn rate);
- 2 players (46% spawn rate);
- 1 player (16% spawn rate).
After the patch:
- 4 players (100%)
- 3 players (75%)
- 2 players (50%)
- 1 player (25%)
The difference is overall quite small, and for 3 players the spawn rate is actually reduced.
I’ve been doing lvl 3 mission to collect SS (Lvl 80 maxed out). While scouting the map and completing objectives maybe encounter one patrol. Let me tell you that after the patch I encountered one patrol per point of interest 😆. Also when extracting looks like and endless streams of patrols. Very fun for me but I see a lot of low levels struggling with it. With 3 players most of the time. Maybe bad RGN
Thanks for the detailed breakdown. Looking at the numbers, it doesn't seem like its as aggressive as people were claiming for it to be. These adjustments seem to really only have impact on the solo player as the difference in a 2 person group is less than a 10% increase and, as you mentioned, the rate is actually reduced for a 3 person group. Thanks a lot for this and thanks for checking out the video!
Thanks for sharing your experience. It seems all those solo helldive missions people do are going to be more challenging for them now haha!
As they should! I want Helldive to be stupid hard! My friends and I tried to do the bug version of the tower defense/helms deep mission (the one with the gates) on Helldive and got completely overrun by like 12+ bile titans, it was glorious. For Super Earth!
Large volume bodies are like massive body parts, such as the reduced damage to massive body parts that the railgun deals against them. These body parts in question are enemies that are bile titans and factory striders.
The quasar cannon isn't "Near twice" the cooldown time, it's 50% longer.
Also it really isnt that bad of a nerf. It's still I believe about 3x faster than the EAT, and still has the 15 seconds cooldown as totally active as opposed to the much faster Recoiless who have to find an opening to reload and manage ammo. It's still a stupidly powerful weapon, it's just more in line with the other Anti-tank weapons, because before any argument that Quasar wasn't far and away the strongest AT was just cope from Recoiless and EAT mains.
The bullet guard dog drone got 30% damage decrease, not the laser one
I read that same changelog from the game's update page on steam and a lot of people were telling me it was the las guard dog that got nerfed, which makes sense too since the scythe got buffed from 300 to 350 damage. I checked the official discord for Helldivers 2 and it said that the las guard dog was the one that got the damage decrease. Looking at the steam patch notes, it even says that the AR-19 Liberator got a damage buff, but we don't have a weapon by that name. It was referring to the AR-23 liberator, the default assault rifle, but I just think the steam patch notes aren't the most accurate. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@Wallbouncing oh so the steam patch notes are incorrect? Oh thats sad, I like the laser drone, need to go try it out and see if its performance has suffered. 30% decrease from 350 is 270 or so, which means it got nerfed even after the scythe buff
@@r390gt1lm After testing the guard dog rover, it still feels just as strong as it was before.
I used the Plasma Punisher a large amount before the change. It feels really good now. I'm a connoisseur of projectile weapons due to poor aim but good whatever-brain-part-calculates-trajectory. It went from good in close range and alright at long range to just good all around. The velocity increase hasn't extended the maximum range by more than 15% if I had to put a number on it. However, the REALISTIC max range has damn near tripled. It's reduced damage falloff and fire rate also allow it to 2-tap scout strider riders (the new bare minimum for explosive guns besides the grenade pistol) really quickly. The stagger needs to be accounted for since they live to be staggered for the first shot.
I have no memory of it interacting with shields like that, though. I rarely use the backpack, but I use the relay a lot. Curious if that's new to this patch or the stars aligned and stopped me from noticing before. Either way, it has absolutely killed me at least twice. Whoops!
Cheers for the video; got to watch both versions of it. I greatly appreciate you taking care to not spread misinformation.
Incredibly appreciate your kind words. They truly mean a lot to me. I personally enjoy weapons in game that are just "different" so things such as the plasma, the blitzer, the scorcher and the scythe had always appealed to me. The plasma felt awkward to shoot when I first tried it, and my part-of-the-brain-that-calculates-trajectory isn't the best so I found the projectile speed change to be very helpful for players like me looking to pick it up. Reading your comment, it makes me really excited to use it and see it's potential. It also makes me think just how many of the things in this game have a barrier of entry that prevent people from trying it more than a couple of times and seeing just how good something really is. Kudos to you for continuing to use it and really appreciate your insight as well. I do think the interactions with the shields is an issue from this update (I don't think I've heard about it before the patch), but thanks again for your comment and for checking out the video!
I have ways hated the Laz guard dog. It shoots me 50% of the time. I'm not sure what it is but the liberator guard dog is so much better at not taking your head off mid fight.
The liberator guard dog definitely feels like it has better trigger discipline. In the two missions I brought the laz guard dog in to test it post update, it killed me at least once both dives so if it's consistent with one thing it's that it'll definitely fry you at some point haha. Thanks for checking out the video and appreciate your comment!
I'm surprised they buffed the las guard dog as it was already quite good (against bugs). It often hit you and would *almost* kill you so I completely understand why it's killing you now!
I have been using the crossbow since it came out, ans the best buff they have done is that it now has better travel time it's way way more accurate when you're shooting things far away it feels so good now I love it even more
Do you use it for both bots and bugs or do you have a preference?
@@Konodonowaiting for his response, was finna try it out n saw they nerfed it
I've been loving using the crossbow too. Since it is lightweight it's really fast to bring it up when you aim so running around with it has always been fun. Since it does more damage on direct hits, reducing the explosive radius encourages it more which I like. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for checking out the video!
Blast absorb is still bugged! The Wile Spice did some testing. Hold off if you haven't already unlocked nearly everything
Aw man. I am lowkey waiting for a turret-meta. Hunker down and defend type missions are my favorite and bringing in sentries to missions would be very fun and make a lot of the gameplay in this game more diverse, but it's hard when they keep going poof after a couple of explosions. Thanks for your comment and thanks for checking out the video!
Yo, little mic tip. You do not get great sound when you speak directly into a microphone. Instead a mic should be aimed at your chest or throat. Your chest and throat resonate and a lot of your lower register comes from them. So if you bring your mic closer to your chest, your voice will have more dynamic range and will be clearer and easier to hear and it will be easier to remove things like echo and noise during any filter steps.
(think like those lapel mics that give amazing audio without being closer to the mouth.)
Thanks for the mic tips. At the moment, I record using just my phone and am hoping to get some better equipment down the line, but your comment has had more value than any other video I've watched about recording decent audio quality. Do you have a video where I can get some more useful tips or any other guide/source I can read? Greatly appreciate the help and thanks for checking out the video!
@@Wallbouncing Since everyone has a mic these days, little bits of mic wisdom should also be as wide spread. I'm glad I could help! Thanks for the great content! =D
Also, I just use my phone too. Phones have some of the best filtering you can get. There aint no shame in using a phone mic. =)
Sorry I don't have other videos but I come from a background of singing and martial arts. In fact Aikido taught me how to breath properly for singing. A lof of refinement of Aikido technique come form listening to imperfections in technique, strangely enough.
In aikido you're often trying to be spherical and if a part of you is sticking out, that's the part that makes a bump sound. I also often think of being thrown to the ground in Aikido as being struck to ring like a big ol bell. So you get a real intuition of resonance and the like.
I suppose kiai videos might help with projection and enunciation? lol
@@Wallbouncing One final tip, think of your windpipe and mouth and teeth and what not as being like a tuba or a trumpet.
A lot of times you would see old brass players project upwards towards the ceiling. This will bounce the sound back and in a way, "bigger." In sound bigger translates to louder. So if you're in a room with a proper and not dissonant echo, you can use to echo to make your voice more booming by speaking to the ceiling and or walls.
I also find that sometimes speaking upwards instead of forwards is more natural for louder projection. So it can sometimes help to speaking a vaguely vertical direction to the mic instead of forwards(horizontally)
I even remember a friend of mine used to sing so loud that he would have to sing away from the mic sometimes but that's something else entirely. lol.
Appreciate your comments. I kept your tips in mind when trying to record the audio for my latest video. I do feel that I need to improve my talking and have more inflections and better tone and tempo, but I definitely feel that my audio had an improvement when I kept your advice in mind so I appreciate it a lot!
@@Wallbouncing I glad it could help! In my mind this type of recording should just give you more dynamics to work with. That way any additional filtering or adjustments have more wiggle room. I'll keep an ear out for your new recording techniques. =)
Haven't tested yet but maybe large volume bodies mean shrieker nests/spore mushroom?
Probably.
Prebuff I could destroy a shrieker nest just a split second before overheating.
Now you have to let it almost over heat and then let it cool enough to get another 1-2 seconds of shooting in.
Thanks for clarifying that! It seems they really want those side objectives to not be cross-mapped with rockets and the like so easily haha. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@bluewolf5582oh that explains why the spore spewers feel so tanky now.
Superior packing methodology is still broken in my experience •_•
Do you know which weapons you tested it out and had this issue with? I was able to have my support weapons fully resupplied. Hope yours was a one time thing and all your weapons get the treats they were promised. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@Wallbouncing I tested AMR, HMG and the auto canon, the amount of ammo given is the same as pre-patch
Add variety by nerfing guns instead of actually adding new guns for variety... Real smart idea.
I'm no game dev or have any experience with balancing and adjusting but I do feel like relying on nerfs is not the best way to encourage diversity of loadouts in this game. It sucked when the railgun got gutted, then the slugger, now the quasar cannon. A lot of people like to gravitate to what's familiar to them and having that thing be no longer useful doesn't bode for an enjoyable experience, and it could be discouraging to try and find something else in fear that it also might be nerfed. A nerf every now and then should be expected, but I felt like there was a lot already to some staples in the game and it's only been out for about 3 months. Thanks for checking out the video and for sharing your thoughts!
Nah, this patch will only help players realize that 1 Recoiless team loaded with supply pack is significantly better than 2 quasar cannons. And that's perfectly fine because it's a team mechanic and encourages better team cooperation, which the quasar cannon didn't.
Quasar cannon promoted lone wolf gameplay, which is not what this game should be at all.
The Quasar nerf would be acceptable if they fixed the spear IMO
Have you heard of feature creep
