With a smooth straight-6, sublime ride, and agile handling, few sports sedans can touch the 328i. Just keep in mind, most of its competitors can be had for significantly less coin.

I have 2011 Bmw 328 X drive. I drive lyft, and it has 429, 000💀😵😵😵I bought with 135k 5 years ago. It's very reliable; just do spark plugs, coils and oil changes. Can't believe my baby is still running strong. No leaks, it still rides amazing.
Wow!! That's great news I just bought an 2011 xdrive today with 85,000 I know the n52 are very reliable my 09 rwd was just wasn't sure about the xdrive but that makes me feel better
Amazing because the valve covers all start leaking by 80k miles..............plastic valve cover, lol
@@MB-rr1fb agree my 09 had some oil leaks but that was it I sold it with 150,000 still running strong. Other than oil leaks and maybe water pumps the n52 is about bulletproof if you service it right
@L L cool J it is but you need to have a good mechanic.
Love it
Who else is tryna get one for their first car?
U think it’ll be good for snow the awd one
@@urgod4259 yeah, my dad has an x3 with awd and we live in NY. It worked in 7inch snow
And the i6 is nice
Me 😂😂😂
POV: We don’t even have our License.
The E90 is a work of art. I've owned one for over 7 years now that was a 3-year old CPO. It still runs great at 135k miles, and I just can't bring myself to get a newer car because it is, well, almost perfect.
That's what i call a true Bimmer, 🙂
E90? So no comment on this car here?
@@JQUICK21 this car is an e90
Getting one soon!
How does it hold up?
I have a 2008 E90 328i, and for what I paid for it, it is the best damn car I’ve ever driven. You’d THINK that 230 HP would be terrible, but when I hop in the drivers seat, the car brings a stupid grin to my face. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. It’s so easy to forget that there is a speed limit, whack it in sport, and hear her sing. It’s like crack.
lmao im hype as fuck grabbing it tomorrow
What is maintenance cost like on a 08
I got a 2011 328i xdrive at 136,000 about a month ago love it gonna be my winter daily😎
Michael Canas I got an 2011 and so far just replaced my spark plugs ignition coils and oil change that’s it coils and plugs on FCP Euro cost me $210 oil was around $80 I did the work so it was cheap
@@user-zm8te2nj6c ok I'm finally in the market for one in canada. 9k for a 2011 328i xdrive sedan with 115,000 kms on it. It has had a couple accidents on the left side so have to dig into that more. But seems like a good deal
I honest to God woke up one morning, watched this, and went out and bought a 328i xdrive coupe that day in time to pick my kid up from school in it. No regrets. Good power but I've always had 4 bangers. It's scoots along pretty good. Definitely quiet on the interior and the steering is what sold me. It's like nothing else. THANKS REDLINE / Asian dude channel!
Hotflop2011 has it given you any problems?
Hotflop2011 ... curious .. any issues with the car?
Brooke Jones had to replace a coil pack
Salman Alam replaced coil pack on #6 cylinder myself for like $20
Its a 4 cylinder....it doesnt
every car I've owned is a BMW. an 01 325xi, 06 330i, and now I just purchased a 2011 328i xdrive. This car will not dissapoint. it steers very well, and it's very comfortable to drive. mine is completely loaded with everything. sport package.. you name it, it has it. BMW is not cheap. it's very expensive to maintain when things go wrong. but if you take care of it, it will take care of you.
you are easily becoming a favourite of mine in the auto reviewer segment. You're reviews are direct, informative and you describe the driving experience which is what I want to know about a vehicle.
Who the hell gives a damn about bluetooth in a sports car/sport segmented vehicle
Thanks for this fun informative review! I bought this exact car a few weeks ago and am completely in love with it.
I had this exact car and love it. I’ve had multiple cars with the bmw straight 6 and it’s the smoothest 6 in the world imo
It one of the most bulletproof BMW engines the N52. There's no other engine that makes 200-230HP that is as smooth and good power low and at the top as this.
Just got this as my first car. Pick it up in a few days. A lot people told me not to get it but I’m happy now that I got it.
I just financed a 2011 BMW 328 AWD Sedan. I have had it for three weeks. What an amazing car! For sure the best driving car I have ever had. I am having to force myself not to drive it too much, because I love driving it so much.
I just bought one w 80k miles and I’m laughing out loud at this 😂 I’ve rarely slowed down for railroads and bumps but now I’m driving like an old man when I can save my baby a hard bump 😂 Beemer Gang 🤘🏾
While the point you make is well known, there's no denying how well the 3-series excels as a luxury sports sedan. That being said, if you were going to purchase a used BMW, we'd simply tell the consumer to make sure and get one with an extended warranty and purchase the extended service plan.
I'm 18 and planning to get this car in two weeks !
+Marcos Rios Hey man, did you end up getting the car? What're your thoughts?
I want this car too
I'm 17 soo yeah
I need to work extra hard for this and I also will be the one fixing it not BMW
my dad's a mechaniv
Did u get the car ?
Yes i did :).. Beware i had some issues since its a used car.. Parts are not cheap but the experience its beautiful :)
how many miles roughly did it have when you bought it? what did you need to replace?
I got this exact model, color, and make year about four years ago and I still get many compliments on it today, despite it being an older model. The dark gray definitely makes it timeless and sleek.
I’m looking at it right now, any major maintenance issues to expect?
@@jonathansins8950depends on how many miles youre at 😅
Wow I hate how ppl complain about reliability under a German car video. I have owned 2 e46 bmw's both of them used and drove my last one to 300,000 kms. Never let me down ONCE and repairs were not expensive. Do if own wrenching and dont do to stealerships. Heck I'd say my Lexus rx300 was just as expensive if I didn't do my research. I would not be scared to ever own a BMW out of warranty. Just don't buy it if you can't afford maintenance with premium fuel and synthetic oil. I expect the newer models to be even better than my e46's. I'm still running my car with 230,000 kms with absolutely no issues. Just buy it and be smart about the upkeep. I can't speak of VW/Audi or Mercedes reliability as I've had BMW's.
Overall German cars are quite reliable although there are some weird weak spots. My Uncle owns a 2004 330ci and the entire cooling system is made of plastic vs. flexible rubber hoses and the water pump has a plastic impeller. Also the 3.0 variant of the N52 can suffer the oil pump nut problem where the nuts backs out but he did preventative maintenance by loctiting it in place. Also, BMW makes their V8 motors run at 105C vs. 90C and many owners have a sneaking suspicion it's to make the seals break down faster so the car returns for repair. Everyone who changed over to a 90C thermostat never had oil seal or gasket problems like the ones with a 105C thermostat have.
Yes I agree with you. But I've had acura's and lexus's in my family and they too have weak spots. Manufacturers really do some stupid things to cut costs such as the BMW plastic water pump impellers that get shot. Only in the case of BMW vs Acura, I had to pay more for the manufacturer's mistakes. Overall, I've ran my bmw's to the ground and hold them equal in reliability to all the acura's and lexus's I've owned. But nothing beats the feeling of a BMW with 300,000 kms and not a sqeak to be heard anywhere. My father's Lexus rx300 started sqeaking and rattling at about 180,000 kms. I mean he paid more for his Lexus than I did for my e46 BMW. Oh well, happy motoring !!
I’ve heard that E90s are very reliable, but what do you think about the new N20 turbo four? I heard it’s not as reliable as the six it replaced
People confuse car’s reliability with how dealership service scams you.
I know cars, but i am very dedicated to BMW there is something about it ...
You are seriously the best car reviewer.
Damn, that's one well kept BMW! Very clean engine bay and interior.
My sister just bought one yesterday. 2011 328 X drive with 57k Miles. Fully Loaded model with the Navigation and Sport package. I have a 545i myself so obviously it's not as fast but I gotta admit I was pretty surprised. The driving is extremely smooth and that Inline 6 engine feels incredible . She was also looking at Honda's and Mazda's but they were nearly the same price so she thought she was better off paying that extra money and go with a BMW instead. After riding the car , I can easily say she made the right decision. Highly recommended car if ur looking to buy one
How much did she pay for her 2011 bmw ??
I use to drive a 2013 mustang gt but recently switched to a 2011 335i w/Xdrive I bought CPO and so far haven't looked back. The mustang had 420 hp and was fun to drive but after 6 months of owning it I really missed having the extra 2 doors and awd especially since I live where winters are bad. I thought I wouldn't be able to cope with going down to 300 hp with the BMW but I couldn't have been more wrong. It's so much more balanced and practical but still is very engaging and fun to drive. Not to mention the interior is far superior.
The one thing I've noticed about BMWs is that they seem to age more gracefully compared to Cadillacs or Acuras. The only advice I have for anyone considering an E90 is get it certified pre-owned but you better do it fast because the last of the CPO E90s are getting nabbed very quickly especially if it's a 335i with Xdrive in the northern states.
Had an 06 E90 aka 325 for tens years And I just got this one! 2011 xdrive! Thrilled. Great review. Hated my ‘16 F30 328.
2011 BMW 328i xdrive is the last generation of the E90, at the end of 2011, BMW introduced the new generation of 3 series, which is the F20 series. I bought the older generation 8 months ago and it gives me unique experiences than other cars that I have driven. This car is the last model that use the traditional BMW 3.0 Liter I6 engine, after this model, the BMW group changed their engine to turbo engine to the legendary natural aspirated cylinders engine. Although many people believe that BMW is destroying what they are good at, the disadvantages of the I6 engine still exist. Such as the fuel economy and the cost on the engine maintenance. The last generation engines have to use the premium gas and the fuel economy is around 19 to 21 mpg. However the advantages are also significant, the horsepower is 230, much higher than the current 4 cylinders engine. That can provide faster starting and the beautiful BMW engine sounds. For the transmission, the last generation has the 6-speed gearbox. It sounds out of fashion for the current vehicle, and the intervals between shifts are very obvious. BMW choose the ZF 8-speed gearbox for the current generation and the shifts are smoother than the old one. I drove the current generation for few days and the driving experiences are totally different from the last generation. For example, the handling for the last generation is more accurate when turning, however the steering is very heavy, people who used to drive other brands of cars will feel difficulty turning. The new generation is more comfortable for the most of drivers, but many BMW fans are arguing they lost one of the BMW’s special features. Because this is an xdrive car, which means this car has better ability to pass through little friction roads. People who are worrying about the rear wheel drive system should choose this car that is equipped with the xdrive. Purchase of a car is not one time spending, the maintenance and repair price for BMW is more expensive than other brands. For example, the 2 years extend maintenance needs more than 2 thousands. The extend warranty is around 38 hundreds. All to all, if you are looking for a car can maximize your fun for driving and the feeling of pushing back, this car should be your choice. However if your looking for a car that cost less and like quite inside environment, the BMW 328 is not really what you want for this.
The e90 BMW 3 series will forever be my favorite BMWs
I have a 2011 328i 3.0 inline six.
They actually have 245 hp. and it feels like 300. Great engine.
Looking at getting one. I was looking at an a4 but I think you’ve sold me. Thank you for your information
Thank you for your brutally honest review. Enjoy my e90 lemans blue/gray m sport 6-speed manual much more than the new F-Series I’ve driven(including new M Sport). Everything you said is spot-on
I own a e90 328i, love it!!! That straight six is a gem
oh yea
Edward Horsey how is the reliability on this car... want to buy this car... found a good one... and how are the run flat tires?
Salman Alam I like it so far, only issue so far was a small oil leak which is common with those cars for some reason. The repair was covered under the warranty I have for the car, just paid a 100 deductible. This generation was made to work with the run flats so the ride is very good. Although if you plan on doing real cornering you might want to change the tires out
nice gadget but ENGINE failure will occur over TIME once your Car hits 100000
I know it's 4 months late, but to answer your question about FTS's; They suck. They are expensive. They are noisy. They perform worse than similarly priced summer tires. Ditch them, get some real tires, buy a tire patch kit, throw it in the trunk, and thank me later.
just bought one today and im in love with it so far
I'm about to buy one .could you please tell me how much did pay for it and its mileage
@@mohammedyacouty6023 i paid 8100 canadian dollars and it was at the time at 170000km so not a bad deal
We're referring to the design of the vehicle
i have the same car but in white and i love it sooo much you will not find a better handling car...the steering feel is amazing and the car is plenty fast! it drives much better then the new one! great review sofyan!!!!!
I own this BMW 2011 328i xdrive. It is an awesome car! Good review👍
Love these cars and don't think they brake down as much as people say . I think I'd choose this one over the new 4cyl , even though it has more horse power . The feel of the new car is just different .
Awesome review, thanks. You sold me on driving 2 hours to check one out
Great review as always. Any change of getting a review of the 2013/2014 mkz. There are very few reviews of it, especially ones as in depth as yours.
I have this EXACT same car, down to the color, have had it 6 months and I couldn't be happier! It's just fun to drive.
How does it hold up?
What about Now
Thorough review. You answered all of my questions. Thanks!
the best of the BMWs E90 Hydraulic steering and smooth inline 6 awesome!!!!!
I have this same car 2011 328i xdrive with 27,000 miles on it. It’s probably one of the lowest mileage in the country. It’s basically brand new!! I can hear the cup holder raddle in your review car. I had this same thing but fixed it very easy!
How much

This is my first car. So far, I love it! It’s so fun to drive!!!
Aidan Anchaya i’m trying t convince parents to let be get this for my first car lol. is it expensive to insure as a new driver?
MJ7294 what did you get
Amazing looking car, amazing straight 6 engine, that ZF 6-speed is a nice transmission for its time, and the steering feel is what this car is the best at. I don't think there is a 3 series that will come close to the amazingness that the E90 brought to the world.
Is that ZF transmission as in the Australian ZF transmission? One of the greatest transmissions of all time?
Going to test drive one tomorrow with 67K miles on it, this video makes me very hopeful.
hows ur 328i goin?
Just bought this car used and LOVE IT! You are an excellent reviewer, thanks for this!
Buying one in a couple weeks. Falling in love more with each video
Just bought a used one the exact car! I know the e90 is a tank good engine I had a 09 I sold with 150,000 no issues at all but one belt tensioner for 100 bucks.. hoping the xdrive holds up like the rwd does
This model>>>> the 2012's and onward
the idea of reducing the motor to a turbo 4 cyl has already been invented and tossed its called a SAAB
Right, I was about to say, I have a 2011 and mine doesn't have the video dash and of course doesnt have the control dial near the gear shift.
This is 2011. Mine is identical and it’s 2011 with everything this one has.
@@MeetTheGays I'm going to keep in touch Sam, this car is very sensitive and I may need to know someone else that has this car in case I have to get something maintained. Lol So, apparently 3011 had LCD dash and some didn't, some had the older audio led dash
'2011'
i really love the wheels, man they beautiful
i think the late model e90 328 was way better than the early model f30 328... however by 2016 the interiors and exterior finally caught up. thank god
Bought one a month ago.
2011 328i xdrive 6mt
I freakin love it
Same rims too but mine is alpine white
Enough power not super fast but satisfying
I bought the same car 6 months ago. One owner 49k miles. It’s all the car you really need. Fun with 6mt, fast enough and the feel with the last hydraulic steering. Plus it just looks great. Classic styling that will last the test of time.

I must buy this car. Get this car for me. So beautiful, awesome and amazing.
I WILL BUY THIS BEAUTY OF DESIGN AND ENGINEERING.
THANKS 🙏🙏🙏
great review
Very nice looking car still to this day. I just wish it got a little better gas mileage. But I guess that's not the primary reason for buying one of these cars.
Last of the reliable BMW's
I have to put coolant in my 2011 328xi everyday, the thermostat + water pump are just eating the coolant like its nothing... wondering whats the problem
Great Job Soufyane!
Is the steering wheel supposed to feel stiff ? I have a 2011 328i with 73000. And the wheel just feels heavy to me
Found a 2011 RWD 6-Speed in black with two tone leather for under 13k OTD!
Great video my guy
2012 is actually the last model year. Although it's confusing because they came out with the f30 model that same year
Might get a 2011 328i in 2023 as my third Bmw. First one was 2012 535i second 2008 328i upgrade or naw?
I try to get this one looks good but the only problem is it was kinda hard to turn his wheel
x drive was definately introduced before 2009 my dads has a 2007 328Xi
I know that. And i know for what im paying. I pay for handling, great engines, smooth ride and great overall feeling. This you can get only with BMW. I own now 2011 328i xdrice 2-door. Before i had 2001 740iL. Both are amezing cars with ZERO problems.
You can get this car used for the same price as a Civic or Corolla.
I found one for 20,000 canadian.
Gabriell Bishop
What's your point?
My point is "I found one for 20,000 canadian. "
Gabriell Bishop
New Civic and Corolla are cheeper, so of course you found one for $20,000.
My point was you can get one for cheeper (cheeper then $20,000).
I can get one of these in fort Lauderdale for 10k and 15k in st Petersburg florida
yo guys Im a uni student and considering buying this exact year and model for my duration in uni. What do you guys think? Cause this seems to have way more tech than the same generation audi A4 and C class. its so cheap yo its like under 10k now thats why im asking!
I’m getting this car when I turn 18 I’m barely 16 idk if it’s a good idea to get it on car max
f30 328xi you get zero loss of traction foot to the floor and zero tire squeal
.. you dont need it with 260hp. RWD with good tires will get almost no tire spin.
I hope you guys get a Acura RSX Type-S, I know it very similar to the civic SI. but I see wanna see a review from you.
i got this mine does not have the screen or paddle shifters tho
The fact the steering wheel isn’t stiff is amazing . Mine is stiff unfortunately
Recommend this as a first car?
Thanks for the review, I think I might head down to a dealership that has one like this for $16K
Miles?
The tailights are not full LED. Only the turn signal portion is.
Like any other brand, there are good apples from BMW, and bad ones. Yes they make things especially hard to fix, but if you find a good mechanic or can do the work yourself most models are not especially expensive to own. One thing you must do, is keep up with maintenance. Many think the vehicle is a Toyota and skip over components during servicing, which is a big mistake. If you buy a model that isn't loaded or freshly redesigned and service it, it will be just as reliable as any other car
What color is the best looking on this car???
I have the same car, I'm not all about speed being a daily driver. It's quick still...but I wanted reliability mostly. Naturally aspirated👍
yup this was way more reliable than the 335
what do you mean by reliable?
kevin p For the 2 years I've had it, nothing has went bad. Maintenance is important though obviously.
Brad Davis how many miles does it have now?
kevin p only 55,000 miles, so you could argue that it's still fresh.
Would the car still open if you forget the keys inside?
why does the 328 whine at redline
great cars. solid solid solid
my mom has a 5 Series, and it's not as sporty as the 3, though it's sportier than the 7. That thing (it's a 2006) with the 3.0 I6 is pretty powerful for what it is, even with AWD. (:
why he kept on saying 6 years old? It's a 2007/8 or 2011 model??
the e90 body type is six years old. thats what he is referring to
How come mine don’t have the shift paddles
Hi Sofyan, I am deciding between getting a used 2011 BMW 328i and a used 2017 Civic Si. Ignoring the price factor, what do you think is a better car from a pure driving perspective. Both cars are manual.
Bmw
Agreed, you could look at a car’s tailpipe and know that regular gas is being used, it’s black
And not good for perfomance
As one of the last BMWs with a NA inline 6 I will be hanging onto my E90 for dear life. Screw turbo 4s and CAFE standards.
+YZRandomE the f30 has more power and you can get a turbo6 335i with 300hp so why the fuss?
The F30's have great low end torque and an amazing auto transmission, but having driven a couple I have to say the steering and suspension just feel wrong. The interior is also just total garbage - the instrument panel looks shallow and dull and the dash while soft touch looks dried out and cheap.
Mainly though I'd be worried about direct injection and the turbo being expensive issues later down the road.
The E9x N52 seems like a better car overall for long term ownership.
lol i was in the dealership today on the phone they where talking to some guy about a water pump for the turbo it was only $260 tax in. and that is at the stealership
+YZRandomE drove a loaner the other day while my e90 was being serviced and I agree. Outside looks amazing but driving blew. electric steering felt numb and sluggish even in sport mode. I felt hesitant in corners where my car sails through with ease. the interior was fugly and cheap. low end torque was nice and it gets better gas mileage for sure, but I said the same thing, I'm keeping my e90 for as long as I can!!!
that is either the induction noise or the belt whining
Just got mine
Here is a simple break down, Spark plugs are $2 more, and they've lasted 12 years, battery was $30 more, and it is the new glass based mat design, I just replaced the original one which was also 12 years old, Engine oil is $75, thats because its fully Synthetic, and is 6.5L, And It gets changed every 25000 Kilometers, not the 7000K, that most cars deal with, You pay for what you get, this isnt Perfume where you pay for the name, Duration comes with a price, as most things do as well.
All that space and my guy parked on the curb lol
Came here to find out if the glove box was lined with felt and damped.
when it comes to cars, dont be bothered by by numbers. 230HP is not that much but 6-inline cylinders will push you back to the chair. shifting is as smooth as butter. gas mileage is terrible tho, i had to go to Costco to get cheapest e92 gas.
