I was overwhelmed by this job but with the step to step instructions i would just go 10 minutes at a time. Perfect walk through got me a new torque inverter and made me 5.5k on a resell
I live in Mexico. No mechanics here know how to work on transmissions. I'll be doing this today with the aid of our farmer friend who has a small 1 bay mechanic shop at his house. I can't let him do it by himself because he gets easily distracted and doesn't do the work correctly as i found out with the recent brake job that he needs to do over again... lost brakes within 10 miles. Driving to his house this morning with no brakes. Im doing it myself with him helping. Plan is to replace front trans seal, examine source of trans fluid leak, and replace transmission, in about 5 hours. Then bleed brakes, and attempt to test drive. Woke up at 4:45 AM to look around for tips. I've owned 34 vehicles over my 6 decades, and dropped transmissions on many RWD vehicles, but... ive never dropped a 94 Ford e150 transmission that's behind a 302. Checking around for an hour now, seems like this is my go-to video.
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles Thanks. I just can't understand why the guy thought he was going to have to remove the flywheel... I'm glad I'm doing it and not him. I'll report to you how it goes.
Great video I have a 1989 Ford econoline van with a 302..an I look fo to pulling my transmission out unlike in a firebird these vans has Great access to the top bolts on the transmission
Great video. I have to replace a torque converter in a 97 e250. I assume the torque converter just comes out, you put the new one in, and then reboot everything?
The 2 studs on each side? They're paired together on a plate, you have to slide the crossmember in, then pop the studs through the frame. Then run the nuts down on them
I got to the step where I need to take the driveshaft off and there is not enough play between it and the rear differential to let it drop. I've used my biggest crow bar, spun the differential around, it just seems like the nut coming out of the differential is slightly too long to clear the driveshaft...any tips? did I miss something?

I did that job today. The rear main seal was the purpose for the removal and reinstallation. Thank you!

Yup! Thanks for watching and good luck
Very, very helpful. I noticed nobody supports the engine on Ford transmission replacement videos. Is that because the exhaust holds it in place?
Hi, the engine mounts hold it in place
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles Thanks, I was afraid if the load was severe enough, they might tear. They are no fun to change in the driveway.

@northwindhighlander hi, yeah that's correct
How do you get that crossmember back on I wish you would have shown that part. I can't get those bolts back in

@@wynniedenny1036 push the driveshaft into the transmission further
How many quarts of fluid does it take ?
Dry (overhaul)? start with 5, add 5 more and go from there.
What year off cargo van was that Transmission in?
I dont remember, I believe early 2010s
Would my 2008 4r75e removal be similar?
