    It always amazes me when guys lift heavy with a hook grip. Years ago my thumbnail and I reached an agreement that I would not use a hook grip and it would stay attached to my thumb. Anything over 500lbs would make it feel like it was coming off. Mixed grip with my dominant arm pronated just feels natural now and no grip issues at all.

      That’s reasonable, and a mixed grip is an excellent option.

    I'd like to try a different barbell for deadlifting; my Ohio Power bar is just so darn stiff!

      You’re very welcome. We don’t have any specialty deadlift bars at Testify, but I have trained on a deadlift bar a time or two when traveling, and they’re kind of fun. I’ve used the Texas Power Bars deadlift bar, and that was a nice bar.

      you can also stand on a weight plate to make it harder like that, but it's not bad as long as you know how it effects the lift
