- I am a man with a family who lives in a town by a beach. At a young age, in the midst of some unpleasantness, I moved here, and for the first time felt like I was home. People often come to California because there are some things they would rather not go through in the cold. I suppose that’s how I ended up here too. I refer to this album as my land of Upside Down Flowers. In many way’s it’s a mirror to my world, an uncanny reflection but not quite the real thing. The songs held within it’s borders are about friends and loved ones, both real and imagined. The edges are blurred now it seems, but the sentiment remains. I didn’t write these songs to change the world, but they helped me to understand mine a little better. Of course I didn’t realize it at the time, but I guess that is the beauty of letting go. He's on ET now and on mainstream radio idt thats underrated.
It’s amazing to see the other people in the comments section that are exactly like me; we have all followed Andrew religiously since his days of SoCo. I slept in my car twice in college to see him live. Since 2002 I have seen him 25 times. Nobody can touch Andrew on talent and songwriting. His poetry in music has saved probably 75% of the people in this comment section. So to everyone else that has found peace and comfort in Andrew’s music... I’m with you. And if you’re currently undergoing hard times, listen to his music, but read the lyrics when it’s quiet. Read the words. And if you need someone to talk to, just reach out in this comment section. We are ALL here and willing to help. Myself especially.

So much this! Been a fan since I first heard SoCo in 2001. Immediately knew there was something special about him and his music. And even though I've been a fan for so long, over the past 6 months his music has meant more to me than ever. Songs that I've always loved I've been able to relate to on a more personal level than ever before. It's helped me so much. I can't thank him enough.❤️

I only had a vague knowledge of Something Corporate from my best friend Freshmen year of college with "I woke up in a car". I was introduced to Jack's Mannequin by my long distance girlfriend in the form of "Bruised", and now I sing along to "Fire Escape" and "Cecilia and the Satellite" with my kids. No artist's music has ever connected with me like this has. The evolution of this music has followed the evolution of my life. It's amazing to see the progression and to find an artist that speaks to me like Andrew does.
I have been a big fan of Andrew McMahon ever since he was with the rock band Something Corporate, then the band Jack's Mannequin, to now being solo Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. I am so glad that he will be performing in Austin next year! :)
I love the way he sings! It reminds me of travelling in buses and lazy summer days.
Andrew is amazing and has progressed so much as a songwriter over the years, His music has gotten me through so many difficult times. I love everything he has ever composed, no joke I love every album more than the last, there is no one like him:)
