- Today Dec 26th 2023 I was one of the first people to recieve a production Veteran Lynx from eWheels. This video shows the unboxing, compares the Lynx to the Leaperkim Patton. Then I give my impressions of the wheel after my first ride, and discuss the Leaperkim app.
I just got mine too! I am 58 and this is my second wheel and I absolutely love it. My first day I went out and did 40 miles on it.
Congratulations on your Lynx, I just got a Rodger Charger for mine in the mail today. It is cool, because you can charge super slow to put less stress on the battery, or chatge super fast, when you need to get going in a hurry. The charger also works for my Veteran Patton.
@@charleskieser9740 i've been in the battery industry for 25 years now so this wheel is really fun. They had to have sorted these batteries as when my wheel reaches full state of charge the variance is no more than 14/1000 of a volt and the highest temperature I have seen is a mere 78°F. That's just plain awesome to me. I've been charging up to 95% and then I stop. I only charge to 100% before I go for a ride. Some people say that the 50 S battery has a shorter cycle life but they are not looking at the cycling conditions at which the battery is tested. We will not come even close to those types of charge and discharge conditions. Especially us "older guys" 😂
@@user-ke9yk5qp3u I like to wait and charge up before I go to save the battery. I never like to leave the wheel fully charged or completely empty. I just got a new Rodger Charger, and it has a selectable charge rate, so I can charge at just 1 amp when I am not in a hurry. I like to plan my rides for when the wheel is done slow charging. The charger also will do 10amps for when I am in a hurry, which is not very often.
Sherman S or Lynx, thats the question, range or power
@@milordas I am only good for 50 miles before I am ready for a charge break. Boy the Lynx is smooth, I have never ridden a Sherman S, but my Patton is starting to feel squirrely when I get on it after riding the Lynx for 2 weeks.
Nice. You got my dream wheel. I have the Veteran Sherman OG. Thanks for the video. I subscribed. Ride safe man
That wheel looks SWEET!!! Thanks for the unboxing video I enjoyed it!
Thats my first ever unboxing video.
Congrats. It's a beauty. The street tire is tubeless and come pre-slimed according to what eWheels told me.
I just got an eWheels email saying not to use tier sealant as the magnesium rim dosn't like it, and that they pre vulcanized the tire to seal itself.
@@charleskieser9740 Interesting. The response I got was "The Longxin 841 street tire will be tubeless, so there will already be added sealant." I'm gonna send an email to Armor-Dilloz and see if they have anything to say about it. I've always slimed my wheels and have been lucky so far, knock on wood.
@@bookmark2846 I have Armor-Dilloz in my Onewheel and it has worked out well for that.
@@bookmark2846there is a rubber bead sealant on them, it’s between the rim and the bead of the tire, there is no slime in the tire and it is not recommended to use slime as it might corrode the rim.
@@charleskieser9740 I got a response from Armor-Dilloz and they acknowledge that corrosion is a potential concern with magnesium and are in the process of testing and hope to have an answer soon.
Glad to see you got your wheeI.
I am 63 and hope to get a batch 3 wheel, I share your excitement have fun and be safe.
I am having fun with the Lynx, which is a silky smooth ride. It will be cool to see videos of you out on your Lynx when batch 3 arrives.
I started long ago on a knockoff. I'm thinking about a Lynx for my 63rd @@charleskieser9740
Dat new wheel feeling 👌
This is my first new wheel since I learned to ride, totally different than when I got my Patton, not knowing how to ride.
Yea, I just got my second wheel. I can ride it, but I'm nowhere near acclimated yet. Excited to see the potential. Your Lynx is probably a beast@@charleskieser9740
👍👍
I took the Lynx out this afternoon, and had fun.
amazing wheel, great vid!
Thanks, when things dry out here I will shoot some trail videos of it.
Great channel
Thank you, my news year resolution will to be to post more new videos than I have in the past, and to learn some new editing skills.
Good luck !@@charleskieser9740
I have a Patton as well as my first wheel. Was the Lynx worth the upgrade in your opinion?
The Patton is a great wheel, and I love it. The Lynx 70Lb progressive spring feels less plush but more responsive than the Pattons 66Lb spring. I like the way the Lynx takes bumps and pot holes better than the Patton. The acceleration out of the hole feels better on the Patton, accelerating from 20mph feels better on tje Lynx.
Cool chuck!
I am having a great time riding electric unicycles, and I dig the people in the community. The next time I am able to make it out to California, I would like to teach you how to ride.
Congratulations! Does yours also overcharge the cells a bit over 4.2v like mr wrongway? Please check app and report back. Also, is the seat from soft cushion material or hard plastic?😀
Hi, yes according to the Leaperkim app the cells are charging to 4.2 volts, of course according to the app my top speed is 4017.2 MPH, so I am not sure how accurate any measurements from the app are.
I also got the tubeless tire and riding over bumps felt super rough. Not sure whether it’s because of the tire pressure or because I haven’t tuned the suspension. Do you face similar issue?
The bumps feel firmer than on my Patton, but it feels more responsive and more stable to me. I am heavy 200+ pounds, and I ride with a lot of gear including Chooch's trail tool set. I took the Lynx off road yesterday and rode it over some rocks and pretty big roots, and suspension wise it felt good. The street tire did slip out in some mud, and I went down. I think the knobby on my Patton would have kept me up in the same situation.
Do you think it's the tire more then the suspension? I've heard the progressive springs are stiffer then the Patton and SS. What suspension LB did you get and what's your weight?
@@Mpower31 I am 210lbs or 95kg and I bought the 70lb springs. The Patton was a bit softer before it bottomed out, but the rebound was never as nice as the Lynx. The Lynx suspension just feels quicker and more responsive. I have hit bumps that used to throw me around on the Patton, that are smooth on the Lynx. I think the quicker rebound on the Lynx also makes it easier to time preloading the spring to leap over bumps.
No, the Lynx is feeling really smooth to me, but I am a heavier rider.
Noice Lynx! Ride safe out there. Also, sorry about your cat. (Lost cat posters?) Hope he finds his way back to you.
The posters were for our English Mastiff dog who was lost for 11 days after our Sprinter Van was totalled in a car accident. He lost 40 pounds surviving for 11 days without us. After we got him back, I took down all the Lost Dog posters. We are so happy to have him back.
Isnt the street tubeless? Im confused on the spare tube lol
The street tire is tubless, I guess they sent a tube just in case you want to run a tube inside a tubless tire, which is a thing in the dirt bike community.
You can take the valve stem off the rim and go back to a tube if you so choose.
Which spring weight did you get amd what is your riding weight?
I am on the 70lb spring, and so far I really like it. I have fattened up a bit over Christmas and I am like 215 pounds without gear, probably 250 with armor, camera, and tools in my complete riding setup.
I didn't quite catch it, what was your reason for upgrading? Not that you have to justify yourself 😂, just curious.
Also, those look like the same power pads I use, except you seem to have the bottom one built in to your euc. That's pretty cool, because imo, that is the most useful of the pads. It would be nice to know that it would never come off or shift. Mine has not really been any issue, other than I have had to readjust that lowest pad a couple times as it does shift slightly up if I do a lot of jumps and stairs and stuff. Not a big deal, but I can see why someone thought to just build that pad in so you know you can count on it, and leave the other upper pads completely to the owners discretion to customize.
My Patton is my only wheel, and I was wanting to have a backup. Also the Patton is a 16 inch wheel, and I thought it would be fun to see the differences in riding a 20 inch wheel.
I wish the built in toe grips were a little bit wider. There are slip on covers to make the toe grips a bit bigger, and I think I am going to get one.
I dropped some stairs on the new Lynx 20 inch wheel today, and I did notice that it was smoother than my 16 inch Patton wheel is on the stairs.
Mr Wrongway rode the Lynx wheel in the skate park, and I rewatched that video, and I think he took the Kick stand off the wheel for his ride in the skate park.
Hi)
I like your CZcams icon
@@charleskieser9740 thanks you, bro
@@charleskieser9740 I also have a Lynx
Leaperkim, please stop selling the wheels with full charged batteries! It shortens its life, as you cant store full charged for long time without consequences
I totally agree, full charging a wheel and putting it on a ship on its way to another continent would be a terrible thing. But I am thinking or maybe hoping that eWheels charged up the Lynx and tested it before FedEx shipping it out to me.
