Another nice easy fix. But I think I'd change that boot soon for how cheap they are !
I’m surprised you can post every other day, its crazy! The amount of machines you get to fix everyday is crazy!
Where he lives literally every machine made lol Wisconsin has everything !!!!
@@theboogieman401 I know, love the rails there, riding them is so much fun in the summer, than snowmobiling in the winter.
@@theboogieman401 for real he has so many deals there some cheap some not cheap for me as someone in france, but still right now its 1 good deal on a quad a month and still its hard... used to be more but now its slow
@@Aim_RC I'm from Rhode island . small state but we have big ride outs every year in the summer .groms dirtbikes 4 wheelers scooters big bikes etc such a blast on my kx85
Still has a air leak
Dude... you SCORED with this bike! That thing runs like a dream! Nice work! I'd buy that from you in a second!
I have absolute faith in your skill….the sane and logical approach you have is something I have never mastered..steady hands and mind…keep on doing exactly as you are..thanks for this..an old Biker!
Stop riding in sneakers..please..
Absolutely love the graphics and color scheme! Couple other things...that's not a crappy Amazon plug. Those E3s are like a $13 plug and I would bet money it was the clogged pilot. Either way, great find! I would consider keeping this one.
Those e3 are actually not good for performance applications because of the big "ground strap" it retains so much heat and causes detonation.
@@jeremyclose705 run E3 in my 87 camray one in lawnmower that refuses to start when really hot weather comes. Another tip for the CZcams certified mechanics . Find the non resistor spark plug and run those in small engines . resistor types cause the electronic ignition modules to go bad .
Ngk or denso platinum only in 2 stroke bikes. 49 yrs old riding since i was 6 lits of 2 stroked over the yrs, found no others that work as well and hardly ever foul.
Nice job! You went right to the obvious and didn’t drag out the trouble shooting. Made for an enjoyable watch. Thanks!
Hey@2vintage that reed block is an after market performance part the sticker you noted wasn’t just for the reeds i think its a boyseen rad valve of powercore or something like that notice its not a rubber intake and there is no restrictor on reed block she has a fair amount of aftermarket bits good score👍
it is a boysen rad valve
You're a busy man! Great job on this one. She's really running good 👍. Thanks again for your time and videos. Have yourself a great weekend.
Very refreshing to see a young person have the ability to work with his hands and know how to use tools. The previous owners inability saved you a ton of money. Please update how much you sell it for.
Suzuki's we're notorious for having crappy clutches, looks like that has a billet basket and new fibers. I always ran a slightly thinner oil and changed it more frequently to keep the plates from sticking. Someone really loved that bike it has tons of new parts.
And chocolate gearboxes
Was my bike was sad to see it go
I stumbled on to your videos, I really enjoy watching how you diagnosis the mechanical issues.
Love how in depth you are. Can teally help some people that way. Great video
The clutch is slipping but for 1000$ it's still a good deal. Probably just a case of adjusting the clutch.
Easy fix just replace clutch plates and inspect the basket before putting new ones in
I owned a 95' RM25O way back when it was only a couple years old. Of the dozen or so mx bikes I've personally owned and spent some significant time on, the 95 RM250 was the strongest running. It was extremely quick... and it handled like an overloaded fuel tanker with flat tires. Really, it was incredibly vague in it's handling. I always wondered if the 125 version was like that or if it was any better.
I've got a rm 250 95 model it's on my picture. I had the 125 94 model before that mate
You can raise your forks to turn better... lower makes it handle at higher speeds better...higher helps turning and so on....set your sag properly.... there are lots of ways to improve handling if you understand how to set a bike up... yeah some are better or worse...but every bike can be Tuned...
@@garymallard4699 I tried a bunch with that machine. I've had many others that were easily set up and felt great...some not so great. With that RM in particular, it always seemed like the motor was too much for it and the chassis was too flexible.
@@thevoxofreason8468
ok ...i raced 15 years on 2 Strokes..Suzuki's were usually Great Handlers.... you changed Oil in Suspensions? made sure your rear wheel was forward? that tightens up handling...depends where you ride too....ok man...i believe you..lol
@@garymallard4699 Yeah, I've had other Suzuki's and loved every single one. I might even say I'm a "Suzuki guy". Been riding them on track and trail since the early 90's... and I still do. This darn 95 was just never right. Maybe I had a lemon, but it felt like a flexi-flyer. Never felt confident on that machine. So I got the next model when they went back to the conventional forks in 96 and I LOVED that one.
Excellent work young man,, love the video,, i look forward to your vids
You are a stud. Another nice fix. That guy you bought it from is probably kicking himself in the nuts for letting it go so cheap
I have the 1994 greg albertyn rm and was also shocked how quick they are for the year, really like the black plastics on this one tho, yet another mint vid
Its nice to get deals on these. Ive only been burnt ive never gotten a decent price buying one of these. The engine either blows after paying 2500 or so to buy it. Or somthing else goes wrong. Usually pay around 2500 and have to put 1000 into it to get it reliable enough to ride
If gotten alot of steals and sold alot of overpriced bikes all I can say is be patient with you're monney and don't buy the first deal
I recently ran into your channel and I love it man! love the work ethics you have and the patience you got while working on the bikes! Keep it up!
You give me so much inspiration to just start working on bikes!
Nice bike. Sunny outside where your at proving summer is finally breaking through.
Yes finally!
Changed too many things at once to narrow down. I would bet it had more to do with the clogged pilot jet in the carb. Even with the air leak, if there was spark, gas and compression, it should have at least coughed when you first kicked it. Nice find and save!! Def a nice bike!!!
As a former motorcycle mechanic and workshop owner I enjoyed your analytical flow.
Likewise, I enjoyed your excellent narration and clear videography, and your video benefitted from not having the narration competing with a noisy soundtrack!
Interesting, informative and very instructional for your viewers, your video acted as a fault diagnostic pathway which will encourage viewers to do diagnostics for themselves in a logical manner.
I'm very pleased to have found your channel and to have subscribed.
I did race prep for a factory sponsored woods rider. He wouldn't touch anything of mine. Peace.
That's right.. and most of all he just simply enjoys what he's doing.. he loves it, you can tell. He even enjoys the pain in the butt parts.. lol. That's how you know you truly love something and care about what you do. You accel with ease..
he's got me wanting to buy a bike this year! Probably try the dual sport thing. I'm 40 and haven't ridden since my teens.. but this will be a lot fun and relearning experience.
Nice figured it was the intake got a kx250 for 800 with the same problem easy fix but never would think of it if you don’t know strokes nice find 2vintage
I had a 92 RM125 back in the 90's and it was a fun bike. I always liked the 93-95's better because of the look vs the 90-92 models.
You scored on this one, pretty nice bike too! Really like your channel👍🏼👍🏼
Think you got a great deal there, this and the CR125 are some of the best finds in a while. New tyres and its ready for the races, one of the best sounding 2 strokes I've seen on the channel and that gold series fatty is stunning! Keep up this content.
Clogged pilot and a ripped intake boot, awesome. Isn’t it nice when it doesn’t cost you anything to fit it. Just a little time.
Good job as usual.
Need to order yourself that intake boot and a new front tire. We would love to see you ripping this out on the trails! Full send video coming soon???? I freaking hope so
lol
I really do wish he kept his machines after he fixes them. Usually he doesent but i know one of them was a cr250 from his early videos like 4 years ago. Anyways that thing ripped
That's a nice looking 125 ... dig the graphics ... nice find!
An easy temporary fix for carb boots is a piece of radiator hose. It’ll work until you get a new one.
My thought exactly. My neighbor used to do this all the time.
it would be even quicker but that clutch is definitely slipping you can tell when you change gears the note of the engine should drop then pick up again but this bike is just screaming the samehigh pitch with every shift. thats theway i have always been told how to tell. but still a great score. biked in grest condition for 27 years old.
That's a keeper man. Sheesh, you had a lot of fun on that.
I wouldn't trust the Premix... i prefer to dump any fuel and Premix it myself to be Safe.... who knows how it was mixed ( what oil used ? ) or how old it is or anything ( water , dirt etc...) not worth the Risk ...
I never use anyone else's mix. I prefer my own fuel and oil so I know for sure it's good.
Compression is good. Check for spark. IF you have spark, pour some 2 stroke fuel into spark plug hole , install spark plug and see if the motor will light.
I sold my 99 yz 125 for 1260$ last week, lost compression, I’m sure only needed a new piston…. God I was so heartbroken wen I seen her up for sale for 2500$ the other day 😟😟😕
A top end kit is like 150 bucks and under 2 hours labor, taking your sweet time. Easy money.
Love the videos keep it up!
I cracked up when he was fighting with the clutch and the bike off. Im glad he learned; I did too years ago. It's gotta be running people! There is so little tolerance that it needs to be spinning to test!
Another great buy joe love these bikes I have one myself pocket rockets mate for a 125 you defo stole this one lol nice looking for sure couple of parts and it's good to go if I stayed near you I'd buy it myself haha take care and stay safe 👍👌🔧🔧🔧🔧
Very enjoyable watch. You have a new fan 👍🏻
1994-1996 RM125s were excellent! This may be a keeper. Def worth investing $ to make it correct.
That's a Clean bike nice find man, rm's are sweet bikes, great video
Do you ever go riding on any trails or go to any tracks? It would be cool to see some riding videos 👍
With that much compression, that little rip could be a huge issue. New boot Joe, will be best bet! Great bike.
Seal All will put that carb base manifold gasket back together. Clean it really well, put your Seal All in the split, clean off excess as you close up the splits. Place between vise jaws to keep it both sides parallel.
24 hours its a new gasket taking some critical torque during carb insertion as well as kinetic energy of jumps and every day riding.
Is this a real 2vintage channel? czcams.com/channels/6BIgPyMa1ux0jOTt9ZSlJA.html
Nice find and bike.... please just adjust the clutch down by the perch, that clutch is slipping like crazy...
Nice bike and nice video. But what is about the bike which can be seen left side on the screen when you pushed the Suzuki in? Any video planned about that?
Yes coming soon! Just finishing it up.
Go to scrap yard and use one phat water hose from the car radiator, you can use it as boot... They are super strong and armored with strings inside. Slice couple of them. Indistructable. :D
Another problem is No Air...i always pull the air filter out and check a Rag or Sandwich isn't left in the air boot to carb !! A Sandwich was stuffed in a bike by a competitor when he was changing his filter !! Rags are a common forgotten item though...in the rush to get it back ready to ride..a simple blockage will make your bike not start....
Another great video, super!👍
I used to have this exact same bike. Mine was a 94. Your bike definitely needs a new top end. You can find one for about $150, it will improve your power alot, it seems you are definitely missing some compression, a new top end and these bikes will start first or second kick every time
always check the power valves on these bikes and make sure everything is right Suzuki rm 125s where always my favorite bikes to rebuild that was always the weak point and they are pricey and can be hard to find
Ur videos a good keep it up mate
Had 93 model back in 99. Very reliable bike. Good power
You got about a 1% chance of that boot working. Never much luck with epoxy on rubber, those boots aren't expensive. I would try that and the. Set the carb adjustments to correct input.
Great work... Did the previous owner use the wrong oil? One not suitable for wet clutches?
GD thats badass, the 93-95 holds a special place in my heart.. that is awesome dude.
Hi, i really like your video and i start my own project with a mini cross bike payed 60bucks ( not Chinese one, it' Malaguti Grizzly Frome Italy) i have download all the manual and i working every weekend, it's more difficult then appears in your videos ( obviously) but I'm very happy and i can't wait for my first test drive
Since I don't bet I think the inlet boot was the failure. With those Boisen reeds and a new rebuilt with that fat pipe this is a real screamer. I think it is race ready right now but would race better with a new inlet boot. May not find one but another would adapt to it.
Sounds like clutch slippin at end of video
Nice RM you have there 👍 And good video 🙂
My all time favourite bike is the rm 125 I had 1 same year as yours loved it was more fun then the 250 I had
Do you even try to get the epoxy BETWEEN the crack in the boot? I use contact adhesive to join both sides of crack together and THEN coat with epoxy. Double seal is better than possibly none.
Nice bike sounds like the clutch is slipping a bit in the higher gears
I'll bet his clutch cable is still too tight.
Congrats on this. Looks like a nice bike.
I had a 1994 Cr125 in descent shape I put new hot rod's crank and soft honed and new ring. Had fmf pipe and Moose racing ignition and flywheel had extreme spark big blue. Was AMA bike I sold it for $900 a couple years ago. Was Workz bike setup. It would wheely all the way up to 4th without trying. I had a tough time selling because it was"old" everybody want's aluminum frame bike for $900
Has to be the carb. You gas from the tank but that doesn’t mean it makes it to the motor. You have a jet clogged in that carb possibly. A quick way to tell if it’s fuel related is take off the air filter and hold throttle ope and from there shoot carb cleaner inside the carb for one second. Try to start the bike. If it tries to fire then dies it’s fuel related in the carb. If it does not fire then you have something else blocking the gas from getting to the cylinders such as a reed valve on a two stroke. On a 4 stroke it could be the valves in the head keeping it from firing
Air fuel mixture screw has a little oring a little washer and a spring
Yea joe your work rate is insane always posting always solving problems I’ve started just like you but more over in TikTok I get more views lol
Yep that was my next thought. The new floats could be leaking.& holdung fluid inside of them.
Clutch Fix here!
I noticed that you have problems with the cluch. it's not the outer basket, it´s the inner hub that as dents on it. I have the same problem in my gasgas ec300. when you are stoped in neutral and engage 1st it kind "jumps" because you have those little dents that doesn't let the clutch disks open
Good way to fix the split in the boot if you can find some large heat shrink with internal glue i think it has epoxy in it. Should work as a patch
Just because you said good job to that I know everything you own is junk and cobbed together like that. Lemon central people blow my mind now Nd days
@sendermx2394 haha good on you mate, believe what you want. 👍 if your the type to say that then it just shows you didn't read the statement. I never said good job, i suggested a better work around
You can put bike o it’s side then remove clutch cover without draining oil
Knowledge is power and you have the power my friend
Love the vids u do a great job man. Any update on the turbo 400ex?
Nice find mate
Might be one to keep. Those bikes are hard to come by nice forsure 👌
The CC says "Music" when the bike is running (so true).
Maestro...I got a1997 rm125... previous owner(s) resleeved the cylinder... finally got it running strong... question is when it's time for a top end rebuild do I have to resleeve each and every time or can it go a few rebuilds before resleeving???...
Great trouble shooter! And very nice bike! 👌👌👌
You're going to need to run race gas or a mixture of it for that kind of compression
It's amazing the horsepower gain when you're running carbon fiber reeds. You scored on that deal bro
I love the gun shots sounds in the background what engine is in that bike
I have an old shifter kart you might be interested in. TM Racing 125cc 6 speed runs great has a ton of extra parts. Needs an easy brake fix. Lmk if you're interested
Idle was so high to accommodate the air leak. .. How long did it take him to do that oil change? Clutch plates sized together from being dry... Other popular way to fix is high rev and drop in gear usually makes them un stick.
What do you use to find out the correct size jets etc in all the different vehicles you fix? Is there some sort of app where you can search make/model/year and it tells you these sort of details? Or do you just buy the service manuals for each vehicle?
You don't have to buy anything.. just search the net!?
Where do you find most of your machines at, just Facebook marketplace??
Sticky tape fixes everything didn't you know, especially when it's being used on something that needs to be sealed and if you find the epoxy is to hard and can crack after drying try black gasket goo,i had to do it to the reed valve boot on my little brother's ktm85 years ago and it can still flex
That's what's it worth $1000. I'm sick of looking for used bikes and they're WAY over priced. 15, 20 and 30 year old bikes are not GOLD. I browse a lot of sites and see a lot of over priced bikes that never sell. I'll just buy NEW, thank you very much!
So what was the point of your whinny rant if you are going to buy brand new? A bike is worth what someone will pay, you don't set prices on used bikes big guy. You literally crying over used bikes cause they're "overpriced" makes you look so broke 🤣
@@rapscallion3421 Supply and demand. The supply has never gone down, but I think Gen Z, like yourself, don't understand the concept of depreciation and overinflation.
Rare.
Mint.
Pristine.
Buzzwords overused on the cesspools that are Marketplace and Craigslist. Once a kid, like Joe, sees this and assumes he's getting a good deal by "lowballing", it becomes gospel. Here's the truth, as bitter as it may be: This particular RM125 is a sub $1000 bike, at best, that he got for $1000 that a guy very nearly suckered someone into paying $2500 for.
It's not whiny (correct spelling, btw. Whinny is the sound a horse makes. Stay in school.) to vent the frustration caused by the overeager. It's not so much that people are too broke to buy these overpriced, used basket cases...it's that it's hard to compete with kids all too ready to spend more than mean value.
@@rapscallion3421 Your the reason why people overprice there bikes, your to ignorant to its real value. I only look for used equipment to teach my son how to fix them/repair. I bet you bought a used car or bike during this inflation crisis thought you had the best deal.
Before your starting your compression test, I personally would have checked the oil as the person said the engine didn’t run after he changed the plug and oil. Well on my 09 there is no dipstick and no sight glass. But there was a bolt to take out to see if he had put in too much oil.
I did see from a past video you had seen that the person out way too much oil. 7:39 in and let’s see from here.
I don't believe it but I have to because he's filming himself epoxying an intake boot. # minty repairs
This guy is no pro that’s for sure.
you got a great deal, it is amazing all the new parts.
4 stroke Lawn mower plug is no good for high performance 2 stroke engines
Lovely little 125 nice save not enough 2 strokes thank you for sharing this one.
sounds fast, those RMs have that certain sound
The biggest things you need to do when you're working on these projects is get the proper plugs form because those E3 plugs are shit and a lot of stuff isn't made to work off of them they require a higher output to make spark to actually ignite the fuel it might spark when it's on the head like that but when it's under compression it makes a big difference moral of the story is use whatever the bike or four wheeler calls for a good NGK.
You can't beat a NGK plug it's the only plugs I run in my bikes and it has got to be the right plug for the motor. When I was younger I put the wrong size plug in my gocart and the piston hit the plug I got lucky the piston closed the gap on the plug and didn't start
@@williambaker1753 automatic plug gapper.
I'm wondering if the jetting is still spec I know sometimes going higher can run it richer?
I'll give u credit, u do a good job with these bikes you find but E3 spark plugs are not crappy. I dunno where u get that from. I run them in every single bike I own and haven't had a single issue, as well as lasting just as long as iridiums
That gas sure was awful yellow for 2 stroke
What color should it be? Lol 😂
Bro never rev a 2 smoke like that cold . They could size up
