Everyone slates Great Yarmouth as being a bit of a dive 👎But trust me over the last 15 years or so it has transformed into a family friendly seaside resort , not so many Drinking bars as it was in the 90,s so more and more people come here for a relaxing time and great fun 👍Also you notice how much cheaper it is there , with great food at a fraction of the price you would spend further down the east cost ie 4 donuts at Southend cost you a fiver but Yarmouth is £2, burgers for a pound chips for £1.50 if you go to the market and all the people that work there are super friendly and will go out their way to accommodate you in whatever you want 👍Great place great Vlog 👍👍
Is it family friendly for ethnic minority? Genuine question and please don’t feel you have to be PC about it…

Agreed. I went too Great Yarmouth with my two boys a couple of years ago and we had a great time. No gangs of drunks, just mainly families enjoying themselves.
@@Snippets635 tons of foreigners living in the town... mainly in ghetto areas. Eastern European and Portuguese sorts mainly.. plus many moved there from down south.
Nice place Yarmouth, good to see loads of families about. Fish and chips looked excellent, cooked in beef dripping, batter just right and plenty of nice haddock in there, chips and sauces very good. Price good for what you got. A solid 10 from me.
You re absolutely right about the beef dripping. A few years back I found a chippy which used it and went there every week on a Thursday when I finished my delivery round. Then one day I went in and it had changed hands and the new people were using vegetable oil. I never went there again. It was great to stop and enjoy them before driving back to the depot, but all good things come to an end.
Lived in great Yarmouth for 18 years and had some nice fish and chips there, but your in the middle of the tourist area whereas if you go each side of great Yarmouth say caister or gorleston-on-sea you will get not only larger portion but more for your money
Can you find a fish shop that sells paties potatoes and stuffing havent seen them for years take care buddy you help with my depression feel miserable watch you puts a grin on my face legend
Lived in Yarmouth for a few months back around 1988 / 89 and have a few fond memories, visited again last year 2021 and this year when the Wheels car show was On, it's sad seeing yet another seaside town fall away, the best thing to come out the place now is sadly the last bus.

we have just come back this weekend from a 2 week holiday in great yarmouth and this is our go to place but sadly on 25th july its was awful the haddock had skin on asked for it very well done it came soggy batter skin still on and had a funny smell to it so the near by seagulls ended up having it and we avoided it for the rest of our holiday and used the market chippy who also cook in beef dripping

We (as a family) love Great Yarmouth. Brilliant seaside town, and the kids love it. Loads for them to do and very reasonably priced.

We used to go there in the 70's 👍🏻 it was a lovely seaside town back in the day.
My mums from Gorleston on Sea near Yarmouth and a regular visit for us would be the market for great chips,seafood etc As always your editing is superb Hope mine gets like that one day……Off the charts as some might say.My grandfather was the manager at the Marina Complex

I can't believe you've done two videos at Great Yarmouth I really love Great Yarmouth and spend every Sunday there it's a brilliant sea side town and will definitely try that chip shop next weekend that's a promise and do you do the drone shots they really are brilliant great video
Good size peas and curry sauce 👍🏻 not a thimble full , a large piece of fish 👍🏻 and good portion of chips , this looks well worth the money ❤

Looks like the best fish and chips you had one I was born in 61 and I caught to say fish&chips the day are just no the same beef dripping is the only way sadly the vegetarians and modern chippy just messed it all up good video mannie spot on 👍

Always eat there Lee when on hols. Luckily hit the jackpot with it being the first place I tried several years ago and not bothered looking elsewhere since. Prices are magic too. 😁👍

Used to love having fish and chips with my mum and dad sadly they both gone now but always brings me back warm memories 😊
After seeing your review I decided to give them a try as I was in Yarmouth for the 3 days of racing and I must be honest and say I was pretty underwhelmed with the cod and chips I had. Perhaps I caught them on an off day but they were decidedly average...
i wanted to leave mac a comment but as yours lined up with what i was going to say i thought i'd comment on your comment. I love mac but he must of had these on a good day because they're absolutely garbage. Best chippy round there is brilliant in caister and chips 25% of the time can be rough but the burgers are outrageous. Best chippy down that way is the grosvenor in norwich.
Had them today & they were absolutely abysmal, MacMaster must have been exceptionally lucky the day he went or there were other reasons he claimed they were so good, maybe they pulled out the stops for him as it was him maybe, perhaps they knew in advance who knows, ranked as the worst fish I’ve ever had I’m sorry to say, grey cod, sloppy wet and undercooked with soggy batter, went straight in the bin. Will take some of these reviews with a pinch of salt from here on.

Years ago Southend had about 50 chip shops, probably! They all cooked in beef dripping and the aroma along the front was amazing. Going to Yarmouth next week and I am going get either fish and chips on your say so.
I am in the Czech Republic right now, not too many fish & chip shops here, so will give Grellies a visit on my return.

We love Grelly's, the fish is just amazing, proper mushy peas (we call 'em sloppy peas in Northamptonshire!), beef dripping is the ultimate for Fish & Chips, going to Grelly's for donkey's years, just the best! Really pleased you enjoyed our favourite chippy. Take care.

Definite 10 out of 10. Surprised that they mushy pease this far south. I went to this fish and chips shop in 1980s when I was a University in Norwich.
Just the fact it’s cooked in beef dripping gets a big fat 10 from me, very nostalgic taste and hard to find a fish and chip shop that cook with it. 👍

Looks like totally quality fish and chips. Great Yarmouth is the other side of the country from me but the only place local to me (Devon/Cornwall) that I know that uses beef dripping is Rick Steins chippy in Padstow. First time I had it, I thought it was weird-almost like the taste of beef overtakes the fish, but now I love it. This fish and chips looks like Steins. Beautiful. Steins is mega expensive though. A treat to have once or twice a year after doing the Camel trail, sit by the docks and eat it.

Perfect just as it should be, with good prices too. It's the same here at 'The Golden Plaice' in Shaftesbury, Dorset. if ever you visit this ancient Saxon hilltop town. And to remind me of embarrassing days my Dad was one of those that sat in the deckchair with the knotted hankie on his head back in the 1960s! By christ they were fun days back then!! 😂🌞🎠🎡🎢🏖😎
I know you wont be there now but there is a chip shop in scratby about 5 miles outside of yarmouth, still along the coast best chippy along there, someone got fined during covid for driving over 2 hours just to go there

We are on holiday to Great Yarmouth in October half term 21st - 28th and then we off to Tenerife on the 29th for a week! Working seasonal means we get an extra week half term with local schools here. Will give that chippy a try! Take care.

I love the sounds of Great Yarmouth. The food is great aswell especially the doughnuts. Wellington pier is beautiful aswell even the litter bins are beautiful they look a bit like robots I hope they don’t turn bonkers and take over Great Yarmouth 😂.

Hi Lee they looked fantastic the fish was chunky for Haddock but the chips were a bit scraggly but they tasted great the way you were going on about them i agree beef dripping all ways 10/10😋😋
