I drink a lot of the fruit punch Powerades during the hot months and Coke in the cool months. Thanks for the info about the freestyle in San Francisco area I’ll look for it next time.
I haven’t used then at the parks yet, but when I use them at BK or other fast food it’s raspberry coke zero
i dunno if they still had it but when i went to Universal... the hulk drink was pretty damn good! other than that... anything sugar free for me! lol

We were on the fence about whether to get a Coca Cola freestyle cup or not, but changed our minds about getting one for our trip after watching this video. This was so convenient. We are use to drinking water all day and this saved us a lot of money. It may have been cold out, but we were still drinking a lot of water all day. Thanks to Universal and the freestyle cup, we now know what a Strawberry and Blue Raspberry Icee tastes like. Both were good, but was like the Blue Raspberry more. water is actually free even without a freestyle cup!! me and my mother just bring collapsible water bottles but you can even reuse a plastic cup as long as you only get water
Yeah! It also appears that the water is available in all the freestyle machines again as well! Around the time we made this video, some of the machines didn’t have the water option!
Hey guys, love the videos! I was just there last week and purchased the Freestyle cups for my fam based on your recommendation from a previous video. It is totally worth it. And those cups are great and absolutely don't spill! We used the hell out of them the whole week were there. The only frustrating part was when the machines ran out of ice every afternoon. It happened every day. I was also frustrated that they did not work in the hotel. They have different cups that you have to buy to use the hotel machines. That doesn't make sense. Thanks again guys!!
They’re not perfect, but it’s better than spending $50/day on bottles! Lol we agree about the hotels, we always make sure to fill ours up in Citywalk before we head back just for that reason. We also usually bring a few bottles of water in our suitcase just for the room. We’re so happy our videos were helpful!
Chris, sorry but that's an unwritten rule Universal has implemented since they started the refill program. If you buy your cups from a restaurant/cafe in the HOTEL, it will not work in the parks. If you go to the parks and buy the cup there, it will NOT work in the hotels. I couldn't make up my mind but figured because I didn't want to lug an empty mug in my small messenger bag all day, I got the hotel mugs. But again, everyone's needs are different. I bet Disney is just as restrictive with their refill mugs.
@@largol33t1 Walmart is around the corner maybe a 10-15 minute walk. I drove there so i used my car and bought a case for the room and packets to flavor the water if I chose to. Sucks that they couldn't use the same cup for everywhere but if you fill up on the way out, you get to drink while your waiting for the shuttle which is like 5 mins when I went last week.
@@largol33t1yes Disney refill mugs are exclusive to the hotels. But they don’t offer any kind of refill cups in the park.
i love the water option... i bring like 6 Crystal light packets with me! and its a god send... and tasty too!

Love this idea and I didn’t even know there were refillable tumblers in the parks for sale. I love LMNT electrolytes (which are great for days you are walking and sweating a lot) so I’ll bring those and add them to my water!
I have my cups from like 4 years ago and it has saved us money. They accept old cups too. Love your content.

You can bring them! We have had one instance where they couldn’t be re-activated, however every other time it’s worked perfectly fine!

We were just there last week for three days and found out that you purchase the cups on the first day and get free refills. On the second and third days we did not have to purchase the refill option. The water and ice is free all day long wherever they have water option on the freestyle machines. This was a great option because I had liquid water enhancers in my backpack.
Yes! Some of the machines will give you water regardless of what cup you have. This is a great option for people that just want water! Also, the water enhancers are a nice touch, too!
Yeah that actually use water to filter the drinks it dilutes the drinks because they are heavily concentrated bags .

If you look at the menu on the Freestyle machine and see “water” as a separate selection, you can fill anything including empty water bottles 😉. If you don’t see the “water” option, you need a Freestyle cup.

Unfortunately the refill cups in the parks and the ones at the hotel are different. You can get free water in your cup at the resort, though! That’s what we always opt for since we spend most of our time in the parks or CityWalk.

We’re so glad you’re enjoying our videos! We’ve been planning to do a package service video on one of our upcoming trips, but to our knowledge, all of the stores in the parks participate in the package delivery. The only exception to that is when their system is down, which has happened to us once or twice.
Planning to finally get a freestyle cup next visit - usually just do the free water but the icee aspect sold me! Is there an icee option in citywalk after park close?
They have a Coca Cola stand in CityWalk where you can refill the cups and I *think* you can get an icee there! We’re not big icee fans, so we’re not 100% sure, but I’d be surprised if you couldn’t!
I’ve also seen in a few different places online/youtube that the Freestyle machines will let you get water regardless of having an active cup or not. It should let you get water even in your own water bottle.
We’ve seen it work for some and not for others. Those machines are so finicky! Lol
It worked for us every time. We probably refilled 10 times a day for two days

I have one question..Is it enough to keep a card with us to purchase food or anything else during our visit to theme parks?
Do we have to carry cash?
We never take enough cash to pay for stuff, just for tipping! A card is really all you need!
Card or the app. I had a lanyard I brought, my ticket, hhn ticket, room key and my card in one of those zipup holder things they sell for a dollar and that worked well. Also can link your card to your room at a universal resort and you will just pay it on the departure day or put the card into the app and pay it that way. There's just so many options, love it.
Also if you are staying at an onsite hotel, you can charge with your room key: it just gets charged to your credit card on file at the end of your stay. This makes it so you don't need to have any extra cards handy

I was there for Spring Break 2022 and bought the cup. Great at first but turned into a nightmare because most of the Coca Cola machines ran out of ice and the lines for the vendors were a mile long. Had to go without ice all day.
They struggle to keep ice in the machines when it’s busy, but most of the machines have cold drinks! It’s a little annoying, but they do their best. Still better than paying $5/bottle for water if you ask us!

I bought a freestyle cup when I was there two years ago and apparently you could buy two or more days at a time? We were in the parks a total of three days and apparently on my second day whoever activated did it for two days and I had no idea! So, the first thing we did on our last day was go to get it activated and she told us we were already set for the day! I was like 😲 cool! It could have been a fluke thing but i think it’s a great idea to be able to buy multiple days. I stayed at endless summer and I thought since it was a resort I could also fill my cup up at the resort but they said you had to pay for the drinks there so that was a bummer. 😞

My husband and I will be going to universal later this year for the first time, and your videos are super helpful! Would you be able to cover how the package pick up system works? I heard that while in the park you can purchase souvenirs and tell them you want to use this and they'll bring the item to the front of the park so you don't have to carry a bunch of things around while going on rides?

If you stay at hard rock they deliver souvenirs to your room if you want. I know they did it for my family 3-4 years ago

It’s kind of good there is a time limit. If there is nothing stopping people, the quality of the drink will go down as syrup runs out and ice runs out.
They do a pretty good job of keeping the machines filled, though! I’m sure it’s a tough task with that many machines!

@The Pugh Two Not only do they have water at the machines, You don't actually need an activated cup to get the water. We got water from multiple different machines for free at the time this video came out, for free without an activated cup.
Yes absolutely! You can also get complimentary water at any of the snack stands!
Love your channel, question, I have a tumbler from 2022, am I able to bring it back on a different month/year? Also am I able to get a slushee with it instead of soda?
Yes and yes!! As long as the chip in the bottom still works, you can reactivate it! If you’ve ran it through the dishwasher, the chip will most likely be damaged.

My mom and I have reusable cups we fill with ice from the hotel and then refill from the water fountains around the parks. I know some might be meh about tap water but we have no problem with it. Plus we have had the same issue with water in the machines. The one by the mystic fountain didn't have just plain water. They had the flavor or sparkling water and they have the fake sugar. I've only used mine on long days or days I know we are going to have multiple meals.
Also, you either got lucky or I am unlucky. The lid on my freestyle cup leaks. I keep mine in a holder and as I'm walking it will splash up and out the breather hole and get everywhere!!!
Haha we definitely wouldn’t put much trust into the seal on that lid! Our tumbler style cup as leaked onto our backpack, so we know the feeling. You just have to figure out what works for you!
Sorry if this question was asked before. Can you bring in your own water bottles to refill with the free ice water? I was hoping to bring water enhancer packets and my insulated water bottle when we go. This way I could always have a bottle safely sealed in my pack back. Thank you! Y'all are beyond helpful! 💜💚
Absolutely! We’ve seen mixed results about the freestyle machines letting you get water without one of the special cups, but you can take your bottle to one of the food/drink kiosks and they’ll happily fill it for you!
I only drink the free water at the parks except for the one frozen butter beer I just have to have on each visit.
Frozen Butterbeer is the best! We drink a lot of water, but we enjoy the Powerade and Diet Coke options as well.

@@divagut yes you can get free cups of ice water from any of the restaurants or booths that have water available to them. There are also water fountains by all of the restrooms

My wife and I did the math and it’s cheaper to get one and get the “recharge” for 10 more every other day. The more you buy the cheaper it would be anyway. If you get he drink only plan it’s. 16.99 each day.
We’re not quite sure we’re understanding. The cup is 16.99 on the first day, and then it’s only $10 on the following days to “recharge” it!
@@ThePughTwo yea I called the hotel and confirmed with our travel agent. We have a family of 4 we would get the cups for I think 13 each plus tax. Then every day we go into the park you can go to any kiosk and ask them to recharge your cup for 9.99 plus tax. If you buy their freestyle cup meal plan it’s 16.99 per day per person. We are staying at the hard rock hotel and the girl in customer service said “yes that’s true.” The only difference is if you get the free style cup plan you don’t have to go to a kiosk to get it recharged. The cup is just good for the set amount of days you get it for. Not with water! There’s no time limit there.
Boy how times have changed. My last trip in 2016 I was still using my refillable cup from 2011 and there was zero reactivating fee.

Thanks for the info.. coming down in November and going to get the tumbler style..you mentioned something about the universal store to get them…I’m thinking I would probably have to go into the restroom to clean it before use as people may have handled it.. also going to see on Amazon about a carrier for it. So I can get a carabiner to carry it on my backpack
Haha we always choose a cup in the very back when buying a new one. They’ve always been super clean, though! We just slide ours into the drink pocket on the side of our backpack. Works like a charm!
Planning a trip to Universal in January from El Salvador...and its quite pricey to say the least. Your videos have helped me be more excited about spending that kind of money for a week! From getting the best deals to must do things around the parks. And Universal can thank you two for me upgrading from the value resort to the Hard Rock lol. Question about the icees. I was reading that only certain locations allow you to get icees in the freestyle cups...is it only the outdoor kiosks you mentioned or are there other locations that participate as well?

The week we are planning to go..23 January. The average park hours close before the average sunset (from my research anyway) Does this mean that we wouldn't be able to see that show that week?

You do know you can purchase the cup & bring back each time you visit the park..paying only the refill price. We have brought our cups back each trip for the past four years.

There’s one in the back of the diner in marvel island that gets overlooked. Not cafe 4, but the diner across from Spider-Man.
The captain america cafe is a great one to stop at and gets overlooked every time. We say there for 30 mins just to cool off and rehydrate and there was never a line. Probably says alot about the cafe but oh well.....🤷

Ok so how does the Kiosk know that your cup is active? How does that process work? You really didn't go over that.
There’s a chip in the bottom that they “activate”. Idk how it works beyond that, but there’s a sensor on the freestyle machines and unless your cup is activated it won’t let you get anything but water.
Plus it’s better for the environment to buy one of those cups and use it for water rather than 5-10 water bottles! Win win 💦

They actually have released a few seasonal cup holders! They're like a crossbody bag, but instead of a purse, it's just a pouch for your cup!

I am a bitter person when it comes to Freestyle machines. As someone who used to drink a regular Coke a day for multiple decades, the product of the machines is horrible, like five flavors mixed together at once, so I will never advocate for their use. However, I have to admit that being able to get water from the machines and refill with ICEEs is a great deal!
Yeah we normally stick to Powerade Zero but we have also noticed some off taste at times! They are such a good deal!

Curious as to how you all carry your cups. I’m looking into a fanny pack with holders, backpack with holders, or a carabiner clip water bottle holder. Do you have something you use or do you usually just carry them by hand?
We just hold it! We're usually drinking out of it while we're walking anyway, but if we need to put it up, it fits perfectly in the mesh pocket on the side of our backpack.

I haven't gone to Universal since I was 9. So I don't remember much. Also idk if yall made a video about this but how is the bathroom situation? I have quite a bit of medical issues that require me to be aware of where the nearest bathroom is and how bad the lines are?
We haven't done a video of that nature, however thats a good idea! As far as the bathroom situation goes, we have never really had a problem. Your comment sparked a conversation between us and neither of us can ever recall having to wait for a stall/urinal in our entire time going to Universal! Hope this helps!

They have free lockers you can use for the rides you can’t take them on!

Not really. Basically, if you have to get a locker for your bag, you’ll need one for your cup. If it’s a “fanny pack only” or “no bags at all” ride, the cups have to go up. We hope this helps!

What do you do with your Freestyle cup if it is full of liquid and you have to put it in a ride
locker?
We dump it out beforehand! Some rides have a sink in the locker area where you can empty them, and for the ones that don’t we dump it in the grass/plants before we head into the lockers.

Yes you can bring the cups back and keep charging them for refills! We actually have a cup from HHN 25 that we bring back sometimes!
Just found your channel and LOVE your content! Question about the fanny pack/bum bag. Are you able to wear it on rides? Does it have to be around your waist or can it be put crossbody? I heard you can wear one on most of the rides, but can't find any more detail about max dimensions, if it can have a water bottle attached, etc. Thanks! :-)
As far as we know there aren’t any size limitations with the fanny packs. The one we have is pretty big and we’ve never had an issue. We’re not sure about how you wear it. On rides that it would interfere with the restraint, they might make you move it to your waist but we’re not 100% sure. Also, Universal does require it to be a 3 prong closure on the bag, which just means the closure has 3 pieces sticking out instead of 2. As far as rides, you have to take it off for Hulk, Velocicoaster, and Rip Ride. The rest of them you can take the fanny pack on. They’re sometimes weird about MIB, but we haven’t had any issues lately.
Just returned from a 4 day trip and I also can confirm as long as it gets the restraint bar on and keeps you safe along with being 3 prong, your good to go. Even if they say something to you, it'll just be to turn it to your side. Had to do that on gringotts cause the seats are awkward shape and of course hulk velocicoaster and rip ride are nothing on you, even hats go in your shirt or attached to something cause you WILL lose it. Also, freestyles will give you water even if the machine says your out for the day. Had lemonade mio bottle in my pack and just used that on day 4 and turned out great. Had a great trip and want to go back asap...👌

Absolutely! You can visit any of the hotel restaurants/bars!

They don’t! There used to be a version of the cup that did come with a straw, but they’ve gone away from those for whatever reason.

Yes, they are! They sell a tervis style tumblr that we’ve shown in several videos that are themed to different areas of the park, and they sell the cheaper one shown in this video. Both cups work with the freestyle machines!
Question: can you use the coke freestyle cups from studios/islands at volcano bay?
Yes, as far as we know the cups will work at all three parks. We’ve never tested this ourselves, so we would suggest calling/texting Universal to double check.

To our knowledge we do not think so, however that would be a great idea in our opinion! Luckily they have them so often that we think they would be hard to miss!
