    I have said this for years if they did a tournament competing against each other each year it would be a huge draw. Take the top 10 Elites vs the top 10 MLF anglers in a 3 day tournament cumulative weight I hit it would be a hit. I think people would watch it and love it.

      They were not going head to head but we semi had that this past off season where some of the MLF guys teams up with some of the Elite guys for an Olympics style country vs. country face off. I think Jacob and Dustin fished with Scott Martin. MLF vs. Elite reminds me of the late '60s with the NFL vs. the AFL before the merger. Make it no entry - some charity event for kids or something.

    Great point! Elite guys aren’t trying to jump to the BPT. Since I’m an older guy I’ve been a fan of the BPT minus what “ Fish Boat Docks” is/has been doing with the organization because it rosters anglers that I was familiar with. BASS had to kinda start over trying to create stars since the BPT took most of the popular anglers. I’m glad some of the big named vets went back to bass. Made bass more interesting to me. Every fish counts is a different animal and isn’t for every pro. To me in recent years scopeadoping has made newcomers dominate BASS. Yes, spotlighting is a problem in the BPT as well, but BASS really seems to be dominated by the rookie spotlight junkies. The tech allows many rookies to jump to the top. Bottom line is if both organizations have live on, I’ll watch the LIVE that has real fishing on opposed to scopeadoping!

    Steve,
    1st) the argument could be made that BASS doesn't have as big of following as you claim. Quick google search shows that according to Nielson ( the organization that records and maintains data for viewership broadcast numbers ) that since 2018, MLF has grown steadily at an average rate of 11% to Bass 4%. Both experienced a drop in 2023 with MLF losing 7% and bass 12%. 2024 current stats ( keep in mind seasons aren't over ) show an average number for MLF sitting at 6% and BASS currently at 1.8%.
    2nd) As for the anglers that have left MLF to return to BASS. Your analysis was correct. Out of ALL of the anglers there have only been two that have been note worthy. Which I think you could have easily said without breaking down the income ranges. LOL But good job for your break down.
    The one thing I laugh as it goes unnoticed. If you look at the Bassmaster page at the tournament results. Prior to the split, Every top ten Bass tournament was 98% current MLF anglers! LOL !!! Which means, the Feiders, Walters, Zaldains, and the current top 10 BASS anglers weren't even a blip on the radar. It took the top anglers in the sport leaving to leave for the MLF, to give the BASS anglers of today even the slightest chance!! LOL
    One thing I'm concerned about, is the growing division between the fan bases, as they have become toxic ( from what I've seen online its mostly BASS fans that have gotten unruly and gotten their panties in a bunch ).
    As always, Good video and opinion.....

      The names left B.A.S.S. to go to mlf. And most are still there. If you look at website stats, which can be manipulated, B.A.S.S. is way bigger. I think the tv ratings are a great equalizer. Most the the guys on bass who are really crazy successful wouldn’t be if those big names were still with bass. Amazing comment. Truthfully, I thought it would have been more for B.A.S.S. than mlf but I think overall mlf anglers have done better in long run. Cheers and tight lines!!

    For those that won't make the cut would it be better to go to the TW "minor league" or BASS "minor league"? Which gives them the best change to get called up to the big leagues? Looking at the top 10 in AOY I think MLF has the more talented guys

      MLF has the names IMO also. I think moving down can help an angler but at the same time hurt him with sponsorships. But I could be wrong. Moving down usually means your not gonna be able to move back up. The Opens are stacked with some of the best anglers out there. Cheers and tight lines!!

    You would think MLF would be better since you get a minimum of 10k and have a 50% chance of cashing in. BASS I believe you only have a 33% chance if getting a check but I could be wrong. With MLF you also have a chance for extra money with Redcrest, Heavy Hitters, and the team event. I guess it comes down to 5 fish vs every fish counts and what the angler prefers. I enjoy your videos. I'm a Stat nerd and appreciate the work that you do to break everything down.

    You have to look at sponsorship money as well. Not easy to do being most pros are not exactly open about how much money they make from their sponsors. Some anglers may have made more money moving back to bass due to bigger pay checks from their sponsors. We know that some of these bigger name guys make their living off their sponsors not the winnings. With all that said it will be interesting to see how the sponsors will react to the reduction of the field in the BPT. As an angler you will be able to pitch more view time because of simple statistics. With a smaller field you have a better chance at getting more screen time. It is an interesting concept and only time will tell if it works.

    • @GetUrFishOn
      @GetUrFishOn  Před měsícem

      Sponsorship money is really hard to track or believe. Some of the bottom anglers say that make 100-180k and that just doesn’t seem correct since they don’t get tv time and zero social media exposure. Many anglers don’t make money for years, sleep in their car and other stuff just to be a professional angler. Thanks for an amazing insight and comment. Cheers!!

    and like u say I do stuff by researching or data
    Maybe because I own a coding company for 26 years
    ok
    bass "pro"
    is not real to a fault
    now in early 2000s oooo yea it was great
    why ????
    here is why
    they had out the industry sponsors
    so until bass to mlf get out the industry sponsors
    it will not support a angler on tour
    sad thing is they can fix it
    but must have business mind set

    lol most of these guys should stick with a real career fishing ain’t gonna make 95% of anglers anything other than broke.
    You guys can’t see that ffs is going to cause a lot of short career s for the overwhelming majority of the so called pros. KVD bowed out for a reason live tech is not fishing and makes for a boring time fishing no thanks.

      I’m my opinion ffs sends the wrong message. It’s no different than hunting deer, or any other game in a pen. There’s no sense of pride, or accomplishment in it. Unfortunately until another company ponies up the sponsorship dollars that ffs companies do, it’s not going anywhere.

    • @hankdausman8653
      @hankdausman8653 Před měsícem +1

      He bowed out cause he’s made his money and doesn’t have to do it anymore. KVD is an anomaly. if FFS is easy, cheating, no skill involved, then I’m not sure why KVD wouldn’t be able to use it and dominate the rest of the field. Or Randy Blaukatt, or any other angler that complains about it for that reason, should be able to own these unskilled anglers using it to win tournaments. But curiously they aren’t. It very much is a different skill set and yes it’s changing the sport. But it’s not hurting the fishing industry.

      I think they made a mistake, going back to bass, based on the payout,except one. MLF still has one no entry fee, for 30 anglers, heavy hitters, where big bass each day is 10,000 for first 2 day's, then 25, 000, then 100,000 last day, and 100,000 for tournament or 200,000 for one day as J Lee did. Still think the top 50 from each tour super league, no FFS.
