0:56 From Albert’s Breer’s article “Inside Kirk Cousins’ Departure from Minnesota and His Arrival in Atlanta”…..” To run the offense they’d (Morris and Fontenot) collectively envisioned, they needed a quarterback who could be an effective distributor, throw with accuracy and anticipation, and be a multiplier for the young skill-position guys. So, the ideal fit was a QB like Brees, who Fontenot and Pace had grown up with. Those in the Shanahan tree who were with Cousins in Washington, long felt Cousins, under the right circumstances, could be a quarterback who’d mirror Brees in a lot of ways.” That’s why the Falcons got Kirk.

Great video, btw!! Regarding Pitts.... For reference, TJ Hockenson, TE, had 60 receptions after he joined the Vikings halfway through the season. Kirk is already developing chemistry with the offense....taking the o-line out to eat at different chain restaurants and taking his receivers to see Jon Gruden for some bonding time. That is gonna pay off big time for the season...
And about that o-line chemistry... Fun story: when Kirk was a senior at MSU….”"Guys," Cousins began, "I've never met an offensive lineman ..." Then he called down the thunder. "... who was not a good eater," Cousins said. "If we want to win, we've got to prepare to win -- by going on a buffet crawl." When the plates were cleared, Cousins, like a true leader, took his offensive linemen for ice cream at the MSU dairy store. Is it any wonder Michigan State's linemen have only allowed a Big Ten low five sacks this season? They would do anything to protect their captain -- the man who brought deep dish and sesame chicken and fried okra -- who tried to keep pace but who simply couldn't stuff enough into his 205-pound frame.”

Thank you! I appreciate it! But I LOVE Kyle Pitts. I'm hoping with a new HC and QB that he will live up to the 4th overall pick hype! Contract year for him so you know he's gonna bring his A game

According to the analytics within the past years, Kirk cousins has been a top 7 QB in the NFL and he is considered the 13th paid highest QB, which makes cousins of steel

He was on pace for a killer season last year! Unfortunate that he went down with that Achilles injury. Who knows, maybe if he doesn’t get hurt Falcons might have had to pay him an extra 100 mil

@@AceAndJix Before this injury, Kirk had never missed a game due to injury in 12 seasons. In fact, the last time he had a serious injury (a broken ankle) was way back when he was a junior in high school. Kirk takes care of his body better than Brady does and uses Brady and Brees as his inspiration on how to play excellent football into his 40’s.
And the only reason that Kirk even tore his Achilles was that he wore the longer spikes for the first time in his 12 year career and said that his cleat got stuck in the ground. The Vikings slipped on the turf the year before at Lambeau and the whole team decided that they needed to wear them for the next Packer game.
Since college, he has had a year-round fitness regimen that focuses on flexibility and agility and prioritizes lengthening his muscles rather than bulking up as quarterback’s muscles must be long and elastic. He also trains for all three planes of motion in his body: the sagittal plane, frontal plane and transverse plane. The goal is to build strength, stability, power, endurance and mobility in each, all of which are taxed by the quarterback position.
He also has a hyperbaric chamber and a full-time body coach (like Mahomes has). He had stem cell therapy at the beginning of the year. There is a whole bunch of other stuff that he does as well to keep himself healthy.

@@Paula-mv8im I love that because I didn't know that about him! And I always figured an iconic field such as Lambeau would be using natural grass. If they wanna prioritize "player safety" they need to look at turf.

I didn’t love the Penix pick but now that I think about it….the Falcons wanted Kirk so that they could win now. Right after he got signed, the odds for the Falcons to win the Super Bowl immediately went up. Plus, they have no idea what they have in Penix…he could be bust…he could be great. And if he is a bust (li, then they still got Kirk on the roster to win games.
Signing Kirk was also the guarantee against injury. Achilles’ injuries are serious but I am not worried about Kirk’s injury when he was taking 7 step drop backs and throwing long passes at only 4 months after his surgery.
Meanwhile, Penix’ injury history is more concerning. He had 4 season ending injuries in his college career. He had the same shoulder injury as Christian Ponder who was a bust. Penix also has had two torn ACLs which is the same injury that RGIII had and he couldn’t stay healthy. He might be fine, he may not be. You just never know…..so they signed the most durable QB in the league.

Penix is a gunslinger though, and when I think Kirk Cousins, I think GUNSLINGER. So I don't mind the decision. Penix is gonna have to learn to make mistakes on the big stage and Kirk is the perfect person to teach him how to deal with that
