I would just like to point out to those commenting on the "SLOW PACE" of the crew in the video that they were assigned to be the RIT team if you listen to the begining of the video (he says "get the RIT bag"). The RIT or Rapid Intervention Team is assigned to stand by in case things go south mainly if firefighters become trapped or injured the Rapid Intervention Team is to RAPIDLY INTERVENE and rescue those who may be trapped. If there was no RIT team on standby and say a firefighter went down or there were reports of another trapped victim there would be nobody standing by to rescue them hence if they ran into the structure like some people have suggested. If the RIT team entered the structure prematurely all personel woud be in the structure at that point running out of air and nobody would be available to rescue anybody if reports of more victims were confirmed (they would be low on air by this point and worn out). Thats why they were "moving slow" and "standing around" they were awaiting orders they were not "caring about theirselves" more than others. I understand to those that are not firefighters what this may have looked like but I assure you it is not what you think. Notice how when they were deployed he ran to the truck to get the saw. Trust me at that moment there was nothing they wanted more than to be in that structure. I hope this helps you all understand what is happening in the video.

I learned one technicality while watching this. When a masked firefighter needs someone in his team to repeat a command or statement, he yells " What?" . Just like us civies.
Had a 2story residential house fire yesterday. Absolutely total loss of house but no injuries. From where we parked our apparatus we had to run 300-400 feet before making it on scene. These guys are doing great work.. Luckily they didn't have to run like we did.. I would've been gassed out.! Great work brothers

We as volunteer firefighters take our training very serious and stay on top of every regulation and time as a paid department would. It's spectacular!

Pretty amazing that we have firefighters. Some countries do not, or have such limited resources that all they can do is stand by and watch things burn. I have a vacation type house down in a small town in Tennessee with the the max population of about 50. If your house catches on fire it will take 1+ hour for them to reach you so usually they will let their house burn same with police.. if you get shot it’s bad news. Luckily everyone down there knows each other and there very friendly
I was a former fireman you just did your job your job was to save lives protect property. We aren't heroes we just do our job. We help people in their time of need. Their is nothing more rewarding then helping someone in their time of need. We are all a team.

This happened to my grandmother once. She had a 40 year love affair with Jack Daniels and menthol Kool’s, but my grandad was always there to put her cigarette out when she passed out - except for that one day. She had to be resuscitated on the front lawn. She lived, but after that night she never acknowledged what happened, just swept it under the rug, just like she did with her alcoholism. Thanks to the EMT’s I had a chance to get to know her at least. First responders deserve all the best in life, I’m so grateful!
They run in when when everyone runs out.... I couldn't imagine how those people feel when someone they care about is inside; just the feeling of helplessness. You can see the two men telling FFs about them and from the video it shows the search& rescue was underway. Seconds feel like hours and Minutes feel like days. I hope the last victim is ok. I don't live near this area but am Thankful for the courage of those brave men and women EMS and FF.

it's very tough, my first fatal was a friend who decided to drive under the influence and it messed me up for awhile but you learn how to cope with the bad calls. definitely not for everyone. but it's very rewarding.

All people deal with death differently I'm a Firefighter and I think you will find I speak for all of us, we don't get used to it, every man woman or child you can not save hurts, but if you have done all you can that's reality, you finish your shift you go home. Kiss your wife and children, and hope next time it's different. You don't get used to it you just cope best you can and get on with it.
People react differently. People are not obligated to follow any pattern and it may be unexpected details that stick with you. You shouldn't feel bad about not feeling "as you are supposed to" after an incident, either.
If you lived in that neighborhood you'd have those gates up too. During the day the human cockroach-scum are out searching for a way in to steal your stuff while you're not there, but at night the serious predators come out and they don't care if you're home or not. Depending on whether its MSA or Scot, the mask may have I filter on the end where the hose connects and it makes it difficult to breath without airflow.
this is just my opinion as a firefighter. I believe that every breath counts when your in a working house fire. so i normaly force entry pull the door shut and then mask up to go into the smokey environment. but this is just my opinion and a HUGE thanks to ALL active and past firefighters out ther keeping us safe.
Well Zeke thats why we dont need or want people like you in the fire service. It sounds like you watch way too much tv. You wont do anyone any good if you get injured or killed trying to effect a rescue running on emotion. All you become is a victim yourself so now there are two rescues to make. These guys are highly trained to do what they do and trust me they do it well. Do yourself a favor and arm yourself with some education and facts and maybe alot less tv.

You have to think about what is burning too not worrying about just smoke. Some materials will burn and become deadly toxins. Though it gets diluted, not much may be needed to kill you. Or like a shed fire I went to where we all left with the munchies (weed shed)

I went to a summer fire training camp and man I can't imagine what they have to do. I had to be blindfolded and suited in all this heavy equipment and move through a smokey house navigating by crawling!
My dad was a firefighter and he has friends who work as one so I've been in a moving truck, seen the equipment, eaten with them, and know how to drive an ambulance. It's really cool
Why do we never get see this kind of a footage depicting a female firefighter in action? Most of what I've seen is either women in training or interviews with them outside of the action.
John Hitchcock It is pretty hard to tell a man from a woman in full turn-out gear. You've seen them in action, you just didn't know it. They don't want to stand out. The just want to be with their fellow firefighters. Last year a female firefighter and 4 of her brother firefighters were killed in a hotel fire in Houston, TX. She was doing the same thing in the same place as the men. The firefighters, male and female, who knew her said she was one of the best. The only clue for some, but by no means all, of the female firefighters is that they will be small in stature compared to everyone else on the scene. Those are women who really busted their butts (everyone does, but not as much as a woman under 5 ft) to get their job.
Spartan Gamer My concern is that they are under-represented by the media. I've done extensive research on the subject and it is almost impossible to find in any medium a positive image of a female firefighter outside of works aimed towards kids. I've found plenty of videos that feature women firefighters but most of them are interviews or show women in training. I have yet to find one that actually shows a female firefighter in a real emergency even though there are plenty with men.
My dad is a professional firefighter. Yesterday was the first day I saw him do his job after him being a firefighter for 20 years. Do you know how scared I was to see him walk into a burning home? People there are complaining "oh they're so slow" "can't they do their job" "put the fucking fire out" "what the hell, why isn't there water yet." I trun to them and say "my dad just walked into that burning home so someone can have a better day. these men don't care about their own life, look at them, they're walking into a fucking blazing building, over 250 degrees easily, with a hose and a mask they hope with keep their lungs flowing and healthy. It is insane how fast a fire can start, but it is even more insane how these men can put it out in minutes. My dad has shown me fires, the ones he has went in to. I've never witnessed him go into it, it was one of the scariest things I've ever seen, watching my own father do his job, just so he can keep people save and potentially give someone another chance at their life. Thank you so much to all the professional, volunteer firefighters, and good citizens who can stop this horrible act of nature. I could never do this, but the people who do are real heroes.

Last Saturday my house's kitchen burnt for around 15 minutes and that was enough to get everything covered by that black shitty thing The FF were late, but they definetly done a great job, when fire started my neighbours and I tried to fucked it but we couldnt do anything. I smelled the smoke for 2 seconds and I was almost fucked up, the firemans were fighting for 5 minutes in the kitchen wich is actually a very closed space and came out like nothing. People react differently. People are not obligated to follow any pattern and it may be unexpected details that stick with you.

During the day the human cockroach-scum are out searching for a way in to steal your stuff while you're not there, but at night the serious predators come out and they don't care if you're home or not. If you are, they will just shoot you so you don't get in their way or identify them. My piece of advice: Don't move there.

at the Cocoanut Grove fire in Boston, one guy got snagged due to the friggin glass block windows. Grown man got partway out and the fire burned him up. Firefighters went at it with axes.

You guys do know that you can have the mask on and not breathe the air in the cylinder. They are two separate pieces of the SCBA. Magic, I know
Depending on whether its MSA or Scot, the mask may have I filter on the end where the hose connects and it makes it difficult to breath without airflow.
this is just my opinion as a firefighter. I believe that every breath counts when your in a working house fire. so i normaly force entry pull the door shut and then mask up to go into the smokey environment. but this is just my opinion and a HUGE thanks to ALL active and past firefighters out ther keeping us safe.

Well Zeke thats why we dont need or want people like you in the fire service. It sounds like you watch way too much tv. You wont do anyone any good if you get injured or killed trying to effect a rescue running on emotion. All you become is a victim yourself so now there are two rescues to make. These guys are highly trained to do what they do and trust me they do it well. Do yourself a favor and arm yourself with some education and facts and maybe alot less tv.

You have to think about what is burning too not worrying about just smoke. Some materials will burn and become deadly toxins. Though it gets diluted, not much may be needed to kill you. Or like a shed fire I went to where we all left with the munchies (weed shed)

I went to a summer fire training camp and man I can't imagine what they have to do. I had to be blindfolded and suited in all this heavy equipment and move through a smokey house navigating by crawling!
My dad was a firefighter and he has friends who work as one so I've been in a moving truck, seen the equipment, eaten with them, and know how to drive an ambulance. It's really cool

Why do we never get see this kind of a footage depicting a female firefighter in action? Most of what I've seen is either women in training or interviews with them outside of the action.
John Hitchcock It is pretty hard to tell a man from a woman in full turn-out gear. You've seen them in action, you just didn't know it. They don't want to stand out. The just want to be with their fellow firefighters.
Last year a female firefighter and 4 of her brother firefighters were killed in a hotel fire in Houston, TX. She was doing the same thing in the same place as the men. The firefighters, male and female, who knew her said she was one of the best.
The only clue for some, but by no means all, of the female firefighters is that they will be small in stature compared to everyone else on the scene. Those are women who really busted their butts (everyone does, but not as much as a woman under 5 ft) to get their job.

I've done extensive research on the subject and it is almost impossible to find in any medium a positive image of a female firefighter outside of works aimed towards kids. I've found plenty of videos that feature women firefighters but most of them are interviews or show women in training. I have yet to find one that actually shows a female firefighter in a real emergency even though there are plenty with men.

My dad is a professional firefighter. Yesterday was the first day I saw him do his job after him being a firefighter for 20 years. Do you know how scared I was to see him walk into a burning home? People there are complaining "oh they're so slow" "can't they do their job" "put the fucking fire out" "what the hell, why isn't there water yet." I trun to them and say "my dad just walked into that burning home so someone can have a better day. these men don't care about their own life, look at them, they're walking into a fucking blazing building, over 250 degrees easily, with a hose and a mask they hope with keep their lungs flowing and healthy. It is insane how fast a fire can start, but it is even more insane how these men can put it out in minutes. My dad has shown me fires, the ones he has went in to. I've never witnessed him go into it, it was one of the scariest things I've ever seen, watching my own father do his job, just so he can keep people save and potentially give someone another chance at their life. Thank you so much to all the professional, volunteer firefighters, and good citizens who can stop this horrible act of nature. I could never do this, but the people who do are real heroes.

The FF were late, but they definetly done a great job, when fire started my neighbours and I tried to fucked it but we couldnt do anything. I smelled the smoke for 2 seconds and I was almost fucked up, the firemans were fighting for 5 minutes in the kitchen wich is actually a very closed space and came out like nothing. Please consider that in Mexico FF dont have all the special equipment, just that "helmet" and their uniform
