    Your garage door may have 10 rollers five on each side or more check the number of rollers on your door before ordering a set of rollers.
    Changing your garage door rollers is an important part of maintaining your garage door and garage door opener. If your garage door makes a lot of noise while opening or changes speed while opening going from slow to fast to slow or kinking at any specific time while opening it could be that you have a bad roller. It is worth getting the newer rollers that are made of nylon and have sealed bearings. The process of changing your rollers is fairly simple however it is extremely important that you pay attention to the process because it is possible to become severely injured or even death may occur. You can also severely damage your garage door and garage door opener if you do this process improperly. In this video I give a step-by-step tutorial on how to change a garage door roller you can compare my garage door in the video to yours it is possible that it is very different in design than mine in the video if this is the case look for other videos to watch on the topic. Do not assume that all garage doors are the same this can result in serious injury or damage.

    A few weeks ago, one of my tension springs broke. I hired a trusted garage door service guys to replace both of them. Then as he is walking back to his truck he mentions my rollers are crappy and will die some day in the future... he charged me less then $100 to replace all the rollers! He did it un under 10 minutes, his trick was to release the door from the drive track, take large channel lock plyers and bend the track out just above the 90 degree bend, as he manually raised the door, he would "bend" the door so the roller would slide out of that bend track. One by one remove and replace the rollers. Once done he bent back the track. Same type deal as the video on the lowest rollers ... NEVER UNBOLT the red bolts.

    I need to change the rollers on my garage door. I did not know about the last one, till you mentioned it. Thank you. You saved me from a real dangerous surprise. In my case the last top roller has come off. I do not know how significant that is and a couple of the hinges are becoming lose. I think the system needs to be lubricated and the rollers changed because the door does not drop squarely on the ground, but almost at a small angle. I have to push it down by hand. Thank you again for the great video.

    After disabling the grave doors electrical power. Raise the door alway up past is upward rest position. It can never pushed past its upward rest position. Have someone keep the door pushed up. This will put enough slack in the cable to remove the lower brack and replace the bottom roller. I perform this proverdure by myself.

      You can bend the vertical to horizontal (curved part) of the track outward with pliers. Using a prybar or big screwdriver just position the roller at the bent part of track and pry out. Lots of videos doing this.

    Undo them red screws from the bottom fixture while the spring is under tension and I can guarantee that’s what you’ll see is red, but it’s going to be blood you see cause you’ll definitely be bleeding. I’ve seen people get seriously hurt. Regardless of what color fasteners are in the bottom fixture don’t take them loose without at least backwinding the spring. As far as replacing rollers in the hinges, people commenting on you gotta put the screw in the bottom first, come on man, as long as the fasteners are installed where they come out of, I don’t see the problem.
    If your going to bend out the track at the bottom, only do one side at a time, don’t do both cause the bottom section could kick up only creating more problems
    He did a good job explaining this.

  • @jeffpowers1199
    @jeffpowers1199 Před rokem +7

    Pretty good overall but I don't think those lights are lasers, just simple focused lights one one side and sensors on the other. I did mine and it made a huge difference with noise.
    One final point; clean the tracks (use a degreaser) and don't lube them as any lube will attract dirt which will shorten the life of the rollers and it's unnecessary with nylon rollers.
    Do some research, there's all kinds of videos on garage doors on youtube.

    Many doors, do not incorporate the cable stay into the lower roller bracket. But it is very important for one to know where this cable is connected, in all cases. Thanks for this safety note. Which, as you say can get expensive, unless you know how to safely rewind the coil. Which can be done DIY.

    All that was so complicated and inefficient. You don't have to lock the wall panel, but you can, just release the door from the shuttle or unplug the opener.
    Then bend out the door track somewhere in the middle. You can then pop out that hinge, still attached and swap out the roller in few seconds, including the bottom panel with the cable still attached. When you're done just bend the track back again, The top bracket is likely the only one that would need to be removed and then replaced.
