- Biorock 7 months trial with this new Biohome filter mecia
So 7 months ago Richard from pond guru biiohom reached out to his subscribers, ask for tester for biorock
I honestly didn't think id be chosen as he was looking for 10 candidates
I automatically thought he'd be looking for larger CZcamsrs
but I chanced my hand and was picked
I set up a 200lt tank especially for the test
grant I was new, so this was never going to be a scientific approach but
here's my video with pros and cons from a novices view

Some fantastic points to consider
1 the plants have grown in and would remove more nitrates
2 the deeper sand substrate with the undergravel filter would of kicked it
3 the basic maturing of the tank
This is why I’m going to do a controlled test with tank
A & B
Great video Mal, I love videos like this when there is experimentation and observation of products and what they do to our tanks. I especially liked the fast forwarding 😂 Thanks for sharing this with us 😁👍
Thanks patty
I’d hang off saying it’s fantastic just yet
I’ll do some proper testing without other variable’s lol
Cheers for watching buddy
Another great video mate, I have biogravel in the filter for two of my tanks and it seems to be helping but it is difficult to know exactly whats happening in a planted tank, I keep a ton of floating plants in mine too so that will be helping too. So far I am happy though.
Definitely going to do a controlled test soon to clarify all the external variables part in the process
Thanks for watching👍 appreciate it👍
So tricky to test these things accurately isn't it but think you've done a great job of it so far. Will be interesting to see if the A tank and B tank shows any further results.
Yeah I think that’s the only way to know and if it’s been seasoned for 7 months it’s at its optimal age for it to work
Hopefully
😂
Brilliant honest review mal, the bottom plants are a much nicer green so I wonder why the top tank with the bio rock is taking away for the plants to be lime & limp👍🏼
Cheers heather xx
Awesome review video Mal! The bio rock does look more something you would put in a marine tank for sure mate. I definitely wouldn't try it in freshwater just because of how it takes some of the nutrients away from the plants. 😊 Thanks for sharing mate 😊
Definitely
but some will like it
Hopefully the A and B test help
Interesting
I wish I had of tested it better now Sara and took some variables out of the process
Wow Mal I had no idea you could as fast as the flash!
lol I was thinking are tripling myself lol
Good to know about this. I have heard about them ... I always just thought it was kinda like lava rock...
You have taken your time doung this with lots of testing and reading of the parameters.
Fare and honest review. I like how you say you don't know.
Lol you look like me after I have stubbed my toes .
Glad you put it cost vs affect
All the best Mal.😮
I know I should of done loads more to test
But it was the plant colour I was most worried about
@@aquariumdelirium I think you did a good job and did lots of tests
It is easier for plants to absorb Ammonia and Nitrite before Nitrate so that's why they are yellow
Yeah there’s definitely something going on in the top tank compared to the bottom
Probably a useless test kit for this analysis as both showing 0 on the ammonia and nitrites
That’s for commenting 👍👍
Interesting result with the plants Mal.
@pelhamsaquatics What can I say Jeff? It's time to lift your game mate!
The plants are my biggest concern gil
I’ve noticed black beard algae also
Which could be a sign of low co2 also effecting the photosynthesis process
Cheers for watching buddy forgot to say
Interested 😁
Thanks Jeff
And thanks for giving it a view hopefully the proper test I’m doing now is more conclusive. As there was too many variables in my half ass first approach 👍👍👍
Hi there how can you talk about the nitrate removing properties with loads of plants in your tank. I have seen so much crap talked about Biohome over the years I just dont realy take much notice anymore but as I like your channel I thought I would comment. As a postscript he cant sell the stuff he is resorting to giving it away hence to micro youtube channels as all the big ones wont touch Biohome with a bargepole
Another great caveat buddy I’m pleased you commented that yes the plants and a deep substrate would of contributed more
Great point 👍👍
Brilliant and beautiful upload, Mal. We love it, my friend ❤️ 💕 check out the competition we are running. The Best CZcams Aquarium Channel of 2023 👍
Will do Iain buddy and thanks for commenting mate
No problem, brother. 👍
im a bit late but have u kept ancistrus with sand and dirt substrate? im worried the ancistrus is gonna dig down all the way down to the dirt
Hi Alex
I would worry to with earth movers
I personally if I kept them go down the route of mess bags of dirt and goodness, strategically place where the plans would be
Then cap it more like MD fish tanks does his
Forgot to say thanks for watching and commenting buddy 👍👍
@@aquariumdelirium thanks, really enjoying ur videos
Thanks buddy I really appreciate it👍
Absolutely fecking awesome review there Mal bruva 💯👌🧁👍👍👍
Cheers Vince
