got some compliments on my hand filing friday when i was renewing my bucking certification with the USFS. my instructor borrowed the saw for demo and was like, holy moley this baby is sharp haha! (thanks to you!!)
Hello Bbr Very dangerous situation in which you find yourself but solved in a very controlled and professional manner. It's a nice feeling to see how you dismantle the tree. I was able to learn something for myself again. Stay healthy and have a nice weekend, greetings Gaudenz
Hey Buckin, I have watched you off and on. I can say you taught me how to sharping a chain. I can say I can sharping a saw chain and get the gullet that always cuts stright. Thank you Buckin Billy Ray
That was a very potentially dangerous situation you were showing today - especially with that wind blowing like it was! I have to admit that I was nervous as He'll watching you make a few of those cuts. I've cut down more than a few snags similar to that situation you showed us today. Of course, as you alluded to in the beginning of the video - no situation is exactly the same, but I've been in a few situations that appeared to be similar - for what it's worth. Anyway, I'm glad you were able to get all of it down on the ground without any major mishaps. In those type of situations things can go south real frickin' quick!!!
Thanks for sharing safely mitigating blowdown. Just yesterday I was privileged helped clear some blowdowns from horse trails for a deserving organization. I have been applying so much of what you have taughts us, a big thanks Buckin. Cant wait to wear a sheclank tee under my BBR suspenders!
SHACLANK!!! haha😊😊 and false tongues or"keltys" to go along with my BBR suspenders!! Well, that's straight goods!!! Haha, great tips on that blow down, they can get sketchy that's for sure!! Good work...and wow, that 500i sounds nasty😊😊 much love from my family to yours❤❤
Lol "De- weightify", that is my new word of the day... it might take me a lifetime to find the right occasion to use that one, but when I do it will be amazing.
Giant bear trap on a windy day, limb bound to the max like pixy sticks, for Buckin Billy Ray it's just another day. Like the double cut or give you put in easin it down like you were workin alone miles from nowhere and not in a hurry. Gaining confidence with my limitations my Sthil 400C hand sharpened with skip chain works for me, Shapps are a plus. When it's runnin hot tis enough saw for me.
I was cutting some trees that blew down in a storm and after just getting started I went to cut a limb kind of like you did at 6:11 and hit a screw that was drilled into the limb. Dulled my new sharp chain lol. Switched my chain with the spare and avoided the limbs lol.
Happy Sunday Buckin'!! Very excited to get a pair of full length false tongues. Glad you put that blurb in there because I can't remember what video it was but I recall you mentioning in one of your past videos you were working on a setup for axe scabbard and wedge pouch where we won't have to wear 2 pairs of sussies... Would love to see what you have planned ✊🏼
Ever process a yew tree? As far as I know in England or Ireland where the species is native. The trees were basically felled to extinction (this occurred widespread across Europe with most standing timber that was there, it was just with the black death labour suddenly became scarce and European forests expanded). The Yew had a faith in store for it for use in military hardware I think. And eventually the species became associated with graveyards, because they weren't felled in that one location. Judging by the timber having processed and tidied up some recently, I suddenly got it. If ever a species had properties that set it apart, in terms of suitability for the medieval long bow. It was the Yew (and the underclasses were mandated by the monarchy to train their whole lives in use of long bow).
My 461 does that thing in small wood too, doesnt matter what chain i use, or how sharp it is. Tried tweaking my jets 1000 times. Super annoying. Get into a big cannon and she just eats but small wood its always on the limiter
Hey buckin just a thought did you always run a skip tooth chain on that 500i or full house maybe it's the skip tooth that let's it pull a bit harder then a full house just a thought. Much love from wisconsin
Great video as always. Im a beginner when it comes to working on my chainsaw, i have a 028 stihl av woodboss that used to run great but now will only run on choke. Can anybody point me in the right direction of where to start? Thank you
@critterg8493 I couldn't agree more!! I've always been a belt guy, and the sussys were a new thing for me, and man...I love em!!! I also have a bad lower back and that pressure it takes away had me sold!! I'm putting mine through the ropes buddy😊😊😊💪💪🪓🪵🌲🌳
AND also black belt in the safety squint... technique from years of squinting. There was recently a video where Buckin is wearing a pair of Buckin shades but dark glasses hinder the vision... straight clear safety glasses are the best to keep sawdust out of eyes. I'll never be able to master the safety squint because I'm such a late-comer to the game and you need years to master the technique. 🌲🌲

Ain't it just a lovely feeling when that saw is just absolutely ripping? Where all you gotta do is just hold the saw... Man I love this work

Nice to see those little volunteer trees coming up. Around my area the deer just wipe out all the little evergreens.

First
@BillyRay, you don't often wear eye protection in your videos. Is there any particular reason? Just curious.
Don’t like things on my face
@@BuckinBillyRaySmith fair enough, loved the video.
