Forest Lawn Memorial Park is a privately owned cemetery in Glendale, California. It is the original and current flagship location of Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks & Mortuaries, a chain of six cemeteries and four additional mortuaries in Southern California.
Forest Lawn Memorial Park was founded in 1906 as a not-for-profit cemetery by a group of businessmen from San Francisco. Hubert Eaton and C.B. Sims entered into a sales contract with the cemetery in 1912. Eaton took over its management in 1917. Although Eaton did not start Forest Lawn, he is credited as its "Founder" for his innovations of establishing the "memorial-park plan". He eliminated upright grave markers and brought in works by established artists. He was the first to open a funeral home on dedicated cemetery grounds. He was a firm believer in a joyous life after death.
Convinced that most cemeteries were "unsightly, depressing stoneyards," he pledged to create one that would reflect his optimistic Christian beliefs, "as unlike other cemeteries as sunshine is unlike darkness." He envisioned Forest Lawn as "a great park devoid of misshapen monuments and other signs of earthly death, but filled with towering trees, sweeping lawns, splashing fountains, beautiful statuary, and memorial architecture." A number of plaques stating Eaton's intentions are signed "The Builder." Frederick Llewellyn, Eaton's nephew, became CEO of Forest Lawn in 1966. In 1987 he was succeeded by his son, John Llewellyn, who died in April 2022.
Most of Forest Lawn's burial sections have evocative names, including Eventide, Babyland (for infants, shaped like a heart), Graceland, Inspiration Slope, Slumberland (for children and adolescents), Sweet Memories, Whispering Pines, Vesperland, Borderland (on the edge of the cemetery), and Dawn of Tomorrow.
The big building uphill to the left is the Great Mausoleum. Though park representatives will not disclose the locations of famous grave markers, this building is said to contain the last remains of screen legends such as Elizabeth Taylor, Theda Bara, Clark Gable and Carole Lombard. Michael Jackson is interred in Holly Terrace. Sam Cooke, Sammy Davis Jr. and many other stars are buried in locked sections of Forest Lawn Glendale.

These videos are a great service to those that have passed on. Cemeteries are not sad places but places to celebrate those that came before us and the joy they brought to the world, which motivates the living to continually remember them. I hope someday I’m remembered in such a way.

I hope he truly knows how much he is appreciated and I can just imagine how fascinating it would be to have a conversation with him about the classic Hollywood stars. Deepest condolences to Craig for his wife's passing. The Elizabeth Taylor grave was absolutely stunning. This is something that most of us would never get to see in person, but you & Craig have changed that. Scott, it is very touching the connections you have created on your channel. Take care.

I remember my great aunt's services at the chapel there and how beautiful it was. It is such a peaceful place. I have the invoices from when she bought them in the late 40's. She paid $150 each. That was beautiful. I never saw the Tracy grave before. His daughter, Susie, died just last year , in May, and I believe she's resting in the grave. Mother and brother passed before her. Clark Gable was married to Kathleen Gable, when he passed. He wanted to rest beside Carole Lombard. Kathleen passed in 83 and shes on the bottom row, to the left of Clark Gable and Carole Lombard. They had a son, who was born in 61. She was expecting him when Clark Gable passed and he never saw his baby boy.

Scott, see, you outdid yourself again! This video is incredible! So many greats that I remember growing up. Boys Town was one of my favorite movies and can still bring a tear to my eye. I never missed an episode of the Lone Ranger either. Sammy Davis Jr... "The Candy Man" can always make me smile. Gracie Allen and George Burns ... "Oh God" how I loved that man! The Three Stooges ... one of my dad's favorites!! They gave him belly laughs that I will never forget! Today was his birthday, so seeing one of their graves on this day just added to the beautiful the memories of him that I carry always in my heart. Thank you for remembering Roger, the driver in the Paul Walker crash. That was so sad, and his life meant something too. Jimmy Stewart, and amazing actor! And who doesn't love Liz Taylor?! I was just watching one of her interviews a couple of days ago. Red Skelton, I loved that man!! He had a heart of gold too. WC Fields, just WOW!! Thank you, Scott and Craig. This was the most beautiful video ever and brought back so many great memories of growing up watching all of these actors in their heyday. And to end it with the king of them all Michael Jackson was just the icing on the cake. We would never get to see this without the two of you. I said thank you but just a thank you is not enough. Is Elizabeth Taylor in the base of the statue? That statue was so fitting for her. Michael Jackson’s resting place is gorgeous with all the stained glass. Thank you Scott, the work you do to show us all these beautiful and memorable people is incredible!! Craig- your knowledge is awesome and thanks for showing us some wonderful resting places!! ❤ you both are awesome!!

Scott, I am not sure if you covered this or not but outside of Las Vegas is town of Goodsprings. That is we’re Clark Gable waiting for the search parties to come back from the crash from Carole’s crash. There is indents in the bar were his fingers were and they have a whole room dedicated to them and other famous people. Very cool video as always!

That was quite generous of Craig letting you see his niche in the Great Mausoleum, and just "happen " to see Michael's resting place 😉. Liz was always a great friend to Michael, very fitting she is near him. Thank you both for a very educational video, came here from Steve's channel.

What a treat to have gotten that close to MJ's crypt! Couple years ago, I visited Forest Lawn in Glendale and I accidentally stumbled about the niche of Humphrey Bogart. The section he is interred in is off limits to the general public but the gate was open at the time I was there and I was not aware this area was off limits. There was likely a service earlier that day and the gate wasn't locked right away. A cemetery employee was kind enough to allow me to wonder around for a few minutes and I also got to visit the amazing and beautiful grave of Mary Pickford too. I hope my next visit I get the opportunity to visit other famous graves! Thank you for this!
