In this video I show you how fast we throw darts. There was a radar gun used at a tourney and showed how fast we throw a dart. The numbers might surprise you. #RadarGun #Darts #MPH
Great vid Ww👍 2 be honest I thought it was faster but I remember watching something with Phil Taylor a couple of years ago and he was saying pretend ur trying to float a feather in there, but honestly didn't know the average speed of a throw. Interesting vid, keep up the good work mate👌🎯💯
Exactly what I thought! I think it could be a useful tool. If a player was missing a lot with their 3rd dart because they were always trying to float the dart into the target at least they'd know why.
Yes. This question has just come up on our version of The Wheel in the UK. They said around 10 mph. Everyone got it wrong. The darts player on there guessed 75 mph, the contestant said 150 mph. I had no idea it was so slow by comparison
Your probably on the net finding a radar gun now lol Very interesting video! Ive also been curious myself on how fast my throw was! I beleive after last of season of darts I was trying to slow my arm speed down to try to establish a better rhythm in my playing. I do know throwing a baseball is alot different but I would of guess at least 30 klms haha Great vid as always! Cheers🍻🍻 just curious..... Have you used the new axe flights from condor?
I've never been a fan of the Condor's. Too expensive and if the stem breaks you also ruin the flight. I'm currently testing the Robson flights and I think they're amazing!
Nice! Keeps the cost down for sure! Gonna play around with different setups and cost is definitely a factor. Have a concrete floor and found the regular cosmo stems would break on me when hitting the floor. Hopefully those smoothies will show up next week! I feel like my dog waiting on the postman everyday lol Thanks again for replying! Cheers🍻🍻
Great video, interesting! I always wonder when watching darts who are the hard throwers and light throwers, seems like it is a bit deceptive watching on television. Who would you say are 3 top hard throwers and 3 slow throwers in terms of this speed metric? MVG for example seems like a hard thrower. Cheers.
When watching it's so hard to tell. I always thought Asada had a hard throw but come to find out it's fairly normal. Maybe his shorter backswing makes it seem faster? So incredibly difficult to determine while watching. We need the PDC to introduce the radar!! 👍
@@WorldwideDarts I always get told I throw hard as I have a short backswing as I throw from the middle of my face as I am right handed but left eye dominate. I wish I could throw from my right and have tried to no avail as it seems like an easier throw but the accuracy is even more off.
i'm an italian high school student and my father (a dart player) asked me to calculate the exact speed to hit the bull. he gave me his height, the distance and his trhow height. the results were 22 km/h, so it was a pretty good approximation i guess
My big question is really: are professional players (in traditional darts) throwing quicker than average players because of timing and a better action, such as you might see in a golf swing? I only ask because my brother had a friend around the other day who has been playing since he was a child, and his throwing action was a pure work of art. He didn't seem to throw the darts super hard, or exert himself, but those things were going into the board like they were shot from a crossbow.
Sorry everyone but it seems that a lot of the comments aren't showing up!!!! This CZcams glitch is driving me INSANE!!!!! I've checked all my settings and I have no idea what's going on! I'm NOT deleting comments so I hope people don't think that I am. I really don't know what's going on 😭😭😭
I was guessing 30 to 40 mph...wow. I've seen the speed of the dart in those events before, but in my mind I was thinking miles per hour was higher. I was wrong. So very wrong.
@@WorldwideDarts I was chatting with you in another comment section the other day about this and my guess was between 20-30mph. Actually it might have been on reddit.
Man, those reflex points wobble something weird. I don't like it. I have no idea what is with companies trying to reinvent the wheel here, with these different point styles. For example, the Swiss Point. Another gimmick. Nothing wrong with an old fashion point imo.
@@WorldwideDartsSOOOOO why aint you in the world rankings, i believe you could do really well. Maybe because youre in america. But if you was in uk/eu you would make it big time!
I used to travel all over the world. The first time I played darts outside of my home I was one of the highest placing American players in the top 32 of the pro singles. Phil Taylor won... i.ibb.co/vYvDFbj/JHuukx-T-1.jpg The first time I played in a Bullshooter event I won the mens singles and doubles. I also got 2nd in the mixed event... i.ibb.co/5xs2hBZ/20240318-171109.jpg I've won a bunch of other stuff and two state titles but nowadays I just do CZcams. Oh... those weren't back to back 180's though. That's why I have the clock there. It will show if there is an edit and there was here. That was just two clips edited together. The new video was back to back though. Also be sure to check out my Matchday Monday series.
*Hey everyone, let me know what your guess was before watching. Were you off as much as I was?*
is that the speed at which the darts meet the board or the speed it leaves the hand at?
Since it's radar I'd say as it's on it's way to the board.
@@Red_The_Legend_The_MythX i was thinkin 30~35 mph. Oops 😂😂
Nice, they should check pdc players speed, something interesting, some throw harder
I seen your post on darts talk the other day so I knew the answer. Still a cool video and I'd love for pdc to do this some time.
Definitely a lot slower than I though! I'd love to see a PDC match with a radar gun, would be awesome.
What was your guess before watching?
@@WorldwideDarts Very high! Around 50 kph
I have been wondering this FOREVER! Thank you!
Happy to help! 👍

Thanks Paul 👍
I was thinking around 30mph, very interesting video, loved it
Thanks 👍
Great video very interesting
That slow player Ryuta is a beast at those trebles. Glad he got into the Super Darts.
I thought it’d be way faster, something like 50/60 kph!
Boom!
Surprising eh?
Great and interesting video WWD 👍🏻 PDC should include speed. it's indicative how consistent the throw is
Exactly what I thought! I think it could be a useful tool. If a player was missing a lot with their 3rd dart because they were always trying to float the dart into the target at least they'd know why.
I reckon they should trace dart paths - like they do with the ball at cricket matches.
I’m surprised at how narrow the range of speeds was - just 4 mph. My guess is that the range of speeds would be wider in a typical pub league.
In the entire 4 hour video on the Dartslive channel there wan't too much variation at all. Completely surprising.
Very interesting
Interesting correlation would be backswing vs forward movement and how it may impact accuracy.
There’s something to it.

Yeah, it's a bit surprising how slow we throw a dart
@@WorldwideDarts Very true. I said 150 mph as well as I just thought they flew like lightning. Just goes to show, every day is a school day. 👍
Cheers interesting video
Robert thornton dart points always go in deep

Is their a good site to check the robinsons out? I notice their not on darts corner
I found them lol They fit on cosmo shafts im guessing?
@@jrg6960 They're listed under Bulls at Darts Corner. But they use a normal stem. I've been testing them with a 20 cent set of Designa nylon stems

Yes. It was a mix of 501 and cricket
@@WorldwideDarts Ok! That might be a fun game to play as I like both X01 and cricket.

You should go to Q school, as you hit a 180 every time you throw at the board! How could MVG or Taylor compete with that? They couldn't.
😂😂
It wasn't necessarily a radar gun. The new Dartslive 3 machines comes equipped to measure speed.
How else would they measure accurate speed?
18 kph
That was a genuine guess

I would have thought a lil faster then that
A lot slower than I expected
About 2mph
20 to 22
I honestly thought it was gonna be like 20km/h, so I guess I was pretty close😉
Spot on!
20kmh
I think 25 Kph
I hope im right
Nope 😁
I said 2metres a second it was more like 4 metres a second

60kmp
very cool. thanks for the info. I had to use maths to convert it to feet per second so my brain would register the data!
So Usain Bolt would outrun a dart...
Yeah, by quite a bit. What's his top speed? Something like 28mph?
Even average human who sports a little will outsprint dart, running 20kph is not hard.
I guess without watching the Rest 67km/h
Never mind
My guess 21 km/t
I wonder what Simon Whitlock has to say about this.....🤔😂
