I just started played 18 days ago. I want to learn all of this. I’m going to wear this video out. Funk stuff is awesome.
Nice, how’s your progress going!?
Keep it up!
@@benjjj0478 up and down. I’m learning scales, simple riffs, and chords. Occasionally dropping to D and playing simple metal riffs. Making progress but it’s a slow learn. I’m 48, so definitely not a spring chicken trying to learn something new.
Guthrie Trapp , Tom Bukovak (501chorusecho) & Brett Papa are useful to learn from 🎸
Great lesson! I had a lot of fun going through it!

😎
love this just starting out and learning question are you fretting with your thumb there or just placing it there??
Nothing he plays uses the sixth string, the low E string, for a sounding note. He is either having his thumb on it because it is comfortable, or for dampening it so that he can just strike all six strings with those 16th notes (or both reasons).
Notice, in the chord diagrams that occur, the "x"'es over the E string, and occasionally also the A string, meaning the string(s) should not be played, or they should be dampened.
In the case of this 16th note funk strumming hitting a dampened string, rather than actually avoiding hitting it, is just fine. Or even preferred. You want that percussive effect!
Is that an E9 with no root?
this guy looks like han solo
