- It's time for another spotlight episode! This time, the guys look back at one of their earliest bad movie night favorites, Blood Shack! Also known as "The Chooper." What's a chooper? You'll just have to watch the episode to find out. Spoiler: you won't find out. We still don't know what the word chooper is supposed to mean.

Tension is when the hack frauds sit at a table with "Rat Pfink a boo boo" on it and the audience doesn't know whether they'll review it.

That diamond cobra episode was so funny, remember the part where Mike lost his mind in the middle of the screening and just started running around the studio naked?
I was so scared I had to put on a third eyepatch for that part!
They made a bold artistic choice when they cut to a 7 minute sequence of Rich Evans trying and failing to take his insulin shots, but it was cinematic dynamite.
I thought it was kinda weird that the ending credits was just footage of 9/11
@@ryngobrody1627 it wasn't *footage* of it, It was a reenactment- Don't you wonder why only three of them are in this one? Jack and Josh were the ones who hijacked the plane and sacrificed themselves for the footage. Of course- it was a smaller airliner and two much smaller buildings, so the scaling was all off. They clearly didn't care enough to put in the effort- but at least it was a funny sketch.

I've seen that movie. It's an extremely campy and silly take on a sort of Batman and Robin type of characters. The A in the middle of the title was a mistake. Was supposed to be "and" but someone effed up and it was too expensive to change it. It's definitely a movie that belongs on best of the worst and I'm curious to find out what they have to say, especially since it's been about thirty years since I saw it and I barely remember any of it, just that it was really stupid and bad, mostly in a very boring way.
I watched it a couple times, although not recently. Like _Blood Shack_ it has some amusing quirks, but lots of it is dull to sit through. For an actually entertaining version, check out Jerry Warren's _The Wild World of Batwoman,_ which manages to be hilarious.

It’s as if they said ‘well it worked in Gone with the Wind’ lets use that, without any memory of the actual line and the film making that went behind it, or actual skill

This may(definitely) be just me overthinking it and/or misremembering it, but maybe it’s supposed to be about her staying overnight in the house after the guy claims the real chooper is still around. This entire hypothesis hinges on whether she went to bed in THE house or some other house, so could someone who’s actually watched this movie please confirm that.

Apparently the company that filed the claim was actually a music company, not Duandra Brown. The whole video was obviously fair use. RLM could easily have fought it and kept the video up, but I'm sure it wouldn't be worth the money to hire a lawyer given how long it was up before it got taken down.

@@Bacteriophagebs the problem is if you appeal a takedown (if the takedown is automated through Content ID, there's a dispute process first), *even if you're in the right*, the company can just say "no we own this" and then you get a copyright strike on your channel. The system makes lying totally free for copyright trolls unless you actually sue them.
The best part is when they pad out the running time of this video by showing how the movie pads out its runtime

My research was actually comprised of the comments here, which mostly seemed to put the blame on Deandra herself. I'm usually very empirical when voicing my opinion, but seeing the project itself, you can't blame me for thinking those comments were right on the money; it does seem like exactly the kind of situation where a content creator would jump down the throat of a review channel for mocking their product. Haven't we all seen that before.
On another topic, I have no problem admitting to a wrong -and I do, you're right - but chastising me for lack of research and mentionning ''some stock music or some nonsense'', isn't that the pot calling the kettle black a bit? It might not be the ''cineast'' herself but it doesn't invalidate her as a factor. For all we know it could be a content claim about her music, which she may or may not have something to do with, and if she does who knows if spiting RLM might have something to do with it. I assumed people that watched the video intently would have factual evidence, I shall never do so again. I'm actually relieved by that outcome. The world is a better place when people are able to have a sense of humor about themselves. Deuandra coming on the show like Len did would be a blast.

I'm not convinced "Chooper" is a real word. I think it was just another word that Rich Evans tried (and failed) to say, and somehow it snuck its way into folklore.
Although chooper is not found in the dictionary, it *is* clearly what the characters in the movie are saying. (They are not saying chopper!) The movie was made way before Rich Evans was on CZcams.

I think, much like the endless exposition from the Exposition Cops in Hollow Gate, it's not even exposition necessary for understanding what we see on screen, it's just exposition to... (I hope you're holding onto your hat!)... pad the running time.
That sword is like the most common "souvenir" type sword you can find around Spain, it is supposed to be the El Cid's sword named "Tizona"
Oh! So a Spain connection in the Chooper Cinematic universe.
They could say in the movie that The Chooper uses an old spanish conquistador's sword, maybe the land has been cursed since those days; too elaborate for this movie though plus I do not think it is the correct sort of sword (not that matters much).

So I'm watching the video and Jay says "tension is lingering on a shot..." at which point CZcams froze. I laughed outloud and watched that screen for about 2 minutes complaining about self-indulgent RLM before realising what had happened 🤣
I remember back when Twin Peaks Season 3 came out, I read a CZcams comment from this guy watching episode 8 when the show lingered awhile on an exterior shot of a house. The guy said he was confused at first, but kept watching. After a minute passed, he got frustrated with David Lynch and his self-indulgent storytelling. Re: what does "the Chooper" even mean, given our American Southwestern setting I assumed both the name and the folktale were corruptions of "the Chupacabra". It sounds similar to many other rustic shortenings of names.

In Spanish, the word "chupar" means "to suck". "The Chooper" would approximate in Spanglish (a mix of Spanish/English) to "The Sucker". Chupacabra means "goat sucker" as cabra means goat.

Firstly the movie was the inspiration for the Iron Maiden song "The Chooper" and secondly that sword was the most Rich Evans sword available - the rapier.
Was it a rapier? I thought so too, but at the end it looks like some generic medieval/barbarian type sword. Gonna assume they lost/broke the first one at some point...
