If you were of that age during that most excellent year, (when the 80's still had a lot of meat left in them) this advert captured your essence perfectly. It was and now is a timeless snap shot of the very much transatlantic street/scene of the time.
Reminds me of my youth 1987, in Mexico were so expensive and rare, i had a clon jacket bought at Tepito still too good, there you could find anythig!!!😂😂
Huge thanks for this one. Been looking out for it since CZcams started. Used to see this all the time on ad reels before movies back in the 80s. Ashamed to say I knew the ad before I knew the song.
I have been looking for this for a while so thanks for posting. I am sure there was a long version of this made for the cinemas. Great advert for once.
Thanks for this, I remember it from the UK cinama's in the eighties . I have to say I didn't know at the time it was the Smiths. But it must have planted a seed in my mind because I have all their songs now. I remembered the track how soon is now and the vid better than the brand because I thought all these years it was for Levis. LOL

This add's my all time favourite.25 years on and still cool. Never knew the score was by the Smith's.. awesome. Thank thank you...
I only bought Pepe clothes for 3 years after this. Wore some mad stuff then. A shirt with old paintings printed on it. Vintage gold now !
I remember seeing this ad, and loving the music but not realising it was The Smiths, until my brother told me.

Remember this one. Marr guitar and the jeans: electrifying stuff.

Wow, what a fascinating period piece. Thank you so much. Happy I stumbled on to this.
Thanks for this!
Best part of the track. No whiney Morrisey.
