    can you use it for chasing/repousse i.e. does it have some give? I'd love the idea of not having to clean when you turn it over. Plus, can you not loosen your work with a bit of heat gun action? I guess you could always use hot water to soften it... Great product anyways!

    What dissolves thermal lock if it gets into a hole or locked in space that you can’t get it into for instance denatured alcohol dissolves Beatles shellac is there any product that works in the same way

    Hello Molly, Thermo-Loc is great, but I have a question: have you got any tip to remove little pieces of Thermo-Loc that remain in some holes under a pave setting? Thank You.

      The best thing is to wrap the piece to prevent thermo-loc from getting into the spaces- plastic grocery bags work good for this. I am guessing the problem is already in place though- You can either try to pick out the little pieces and heat slightly if needed; or, Rio Grande sells this solvent called Attack- it shouldn’t hurt the piece but will dissolve the thermo-loc when soaked.

    Can it be used for repousse in place of pitch? I.e. does it have a slight give when cold?

    • @Grstools
      @Grstools  Před 5 lety

      Hello,
      Thermo lock acts much like pitch. It requires heating and when cooled it is very hard. It does not have much give.

    What will happen if you overheat the thermoloc, for example using a torch to make it soft, will it lose its usefulness?

    • @Grstools
      @Grstools  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey, it will boil and bubble and burn you. After that it will get super sticky and be of no use. You could still use a torch to heat it up (people use heat guns) you would just want to keep a decent distance and avoid the flame actually hitting the thermo-loc.

    What if you don't have a teflon plate?

    • @Grstools
      @Grstools  Před rokem

      If you don't have access to a PTFE pad, you can use hot water to heat the Thermo-Loc®. You can find the link to the Thermo-Loc® literature here: grs.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/LIT-230_ThermoLoc_20.pdf
