Scotland did their homework. They saw how Italy scored tries out wide and did the same. Russell's pass was the pass of the season, even more incredible when you think how much pressure he was under.

I'm English, and I must say the behaviour of some of our fans on social media is appalling. I have great respect for the Scots and fully admit they outplayed us in every aspect of the game; the result was not due to Nigel Owens' refereeing decisions (which were not dubious at all, he had a fantastic game). He is without a doubt the best ref in the world.
For what its worth, I apologise on behalf of England for the idiots on Twitter etc., please understand that most of us accept the result and it is just the moronic minority on social media making the rest of us look bad. Great game and well played Scotland!

I did see a variety of comments, but what exactly are you referring to on Nigel? I saw someone say words to the effect of him having money stuffed in unfaltering underwear, so classy. Well Nigel is certainly better than that halfwit Craig from South Africa.
Scotland turned up and played a superb match and it was a privilege to watch.

Scotland did exactly what they've been doing in the authum internationals, and it worked brilliantly. If Scotland's jackals aren't firing then they have a hard time. Watson and Barclay both had great matches today. The Front 3 were outstanding, bar a few poor lineouts. I loved that fact that as soon as WP Nel came on, he won a scrum penalty! The attacking backline was outstanding and Huw Jones...... well if he keeps playing like he is he'll be world class in no time.
Scotland are still in this tournament. A victory against Ireland (asking a lot) and who knows. Nevertheless, enjoy the win lads. Couldn't be prouder.

Just to clarify the Danny Care interception for the English who are roasting Owens (English fan):
Joe Launchbury was in full right to compete for the ball, he was just not supporting his own body weight at all.
Owens didn't blow a Scottish penalty there and then to allow the game to run. The illegally slow ball allowed Care to position himself for the interception.
Owens then told Hartley afterwards as to why Launchbury was penalised.
There is enough evidence in this video to show Launchbury's knee hit the floor, sorry chaps but there is no way he could have stood up if the pile of bodies weren't there.
It was a great game, unfortunately we were beaten by the better side today.

@@simonjeffs75 Just looking at this in advance of Autumn internationals hence late reply - not sure f you're a referee in any team sport before and if you are apologies in advance but from personal experience you are so focused on what is in front of you it is harder to be biased than not. There's also the player reaction, looking at it frame by frame the clear out by Watson is marginal and respect to Farrell for just getting on with it, and if Farrell of all players had felt neck grabbed his reaction would I am sure have been different. He's not exactly the least hot-headed of players, starting a barney in the tunnel before the match, and seems unlikely he would not have kicked off if he perceived that he had been illegally tackle. Respect to Farrell for that. Compare his reaction to that of Danny Care earlier after Barclay had tackled Ford, got on his feet, re-entered via the gate, and grabbed the ball. At 2:27 Care is looking up for a referee decision. That was world class refereeing.

@@moraybarclay it's by the by now mate. But I will say that, yes owens is a top ref and yes 99% of his calls that day were spot on. Wasn't an issue, the calls he chose not to make were. Momentum is a big thing in sport and owens gave Scotland that momentum by constantly picking up on any minor infringement England committed, and to be fair they committed a lot, but not the Scots. The farrell incident is just a case in point. No matter how you view it he is 100% grabbed around the neck, whether he gets up and makes a song and dance about it is irrelevant. Dangerous play in full view of owens and yet nothing!!! No question that Scotland deserved the win, England's first half display was shambolic, but their cause wasn't helped by Mr owens.

Irishman here, nice to see Scotland get a win over England and all that but I really respect the manner in how Underhill responded to the ref and took the sin binning. 'Right fair enough, I fucked up'. One of the many reasons I love this game.

  • @darthhepsy
    @darthhepsy Před 6 lety +3

Nigel Owens is the best ref in the game no question. Any arguments the English throw at us about this are weak willed and empty. We deserved the win and we can still actually win the 6 Nations!!! #AsOne

A very streetwise performance from Scotland. Flung it about very well when it was on and stuffed it up the jumper and played a good tight game when they needed to. If only they could've played like this against Wales.

Well played Scotland, from an England fan. England had the rub of the green last week, didn’t this. That’s the way it goes. No sour grapes here; I was 5 minutes away from putting £20 on the Scots to win the whole thing after the NZ game.
