  • In this video I will give you 10 questions you should ask admissions before or during your application process, and I guarantee you it will not only help you make a better decision on where to do your MBA, but also will put you in a great spot as you make a great impression.
    00:00 - Intro:
You only get one chance at a first impression. For most prospective MBA and business master’s applicants, that precious first impression is made at a business school event or at one-on-one sessions with admissions. One of the best ways to make a positive impression on admissions staff at business school events is simply to ask good quality questions.
Don't ask questions like " What’s the average class size for your program?" or "What companies are recruiting from your school?". All this information is already on any given business school website.
Instead, you want to communicate with your questions that you’ve done your research and reflected personally on how being a part of their program aligns with your goals. Use your time to get personalized insights that you won’t be able to get anywhere else, which ultimately should help you determine if a program is the right fit for you.
    03:13 - #1:
From your personal perspective, what is the strength of your program?
This is, in my opinion, one of the most important questions as it asks your school's representative directly about their personal opinion.
03:43 - #2: What sets your school culture apart from others?
Culture can make or break an effective learning experience. And it can have a huge impact on your overall MBA experience. There is no right or wrong answer to this question as this is super subjective.
04:45 - #3: How strong is the Alumni network and how do current students get opportunities to engage with the alumni network during and after the MBA program?
The alumni network can play a crucial factor in your job search. Knowing that there is an existing and strong network of people, who have gone through the same program, can be beneficial when it comes to finding a full-time job after the program.
05:39 - #4: What does the ideal candidate look light? What sort of characteristics and properties are needed to be successful in the program?
With that question, you are highlighting your deep interest for the program on the one hand, and on the other hand, you can check and see for yourself if you can tick the necessary boxes needed to make it into the program.
06:09 - #5: How often do students interact with professors?
Although the curriculum is a big part of your business school investment, receiving guidance from professors, whether it is class-related or job-related, is irreplaceable. Try to understand the expectations set by the university for professors to be willing and available to students beyond the classroom.
06:50 - #6: What is the most memorable application you’ve reviewed, and why?
Understanding what stands out to an admissions counselor can help take your application to the next level. This kind of qualitative question is a matter of opinion, but you may learn a creative tactic or two that you can apply as you put the finishing touches on your application packet.
07:23 - #7: How can I connect with current students?
A big part of how you’ll be evaluated as an applicant is how you see yourself being a positive contributor to your class.
08:02 - #8: What are some things that students in your program do for fun?
Remember, business school isn’t all classrooms and case studies-a big part of the value is network, the basis of which is formed in fun shared experiences.
08:44 - #9: Can you talk a little about the student job search?
Let them tell you all about the job search process.
In the same breath, it is also worth asking about the resources that are available to MBA students. And I am not only talking about Career Services, but also other forms of channels.
09:40 - #10: What are the weaknesses of your program?
Once you have gone through all the previous questions that I mentioned in this video, and you still want to learn more about the school because you feel like you need to know additional inside information, this could be final question.
That said, don’t get too caught up on making a good impression. After all, that’s not the point of asking good questions-the point is to get good answers. Those answers should help you fill in your knowledge gaps so you can find the right MBA or business master’s program for you.

Hey Adrian, love this video! It's very helpful. I need some advice, so I'm emailing the admissions managers of a couple of schools I'm interested in for profile assessment, but I just can't seem to find the right beginning to the email. Could you help me out? I know the basic idea of what needs to be included, but I'm having a hard time phrasing my thoughts. If you could help with an example that would be great. :)
