Lyrics:
What will you tell your children when they ask you "what went wrong"
How can you paint a picture of a paradise lost
To eyes that know only a wasteland
How will you justify watching the world die
The clock is ticking, can't you feel our days are numbered
Head first into disaster from which there will be no return
With narrow minds we decimate our one true home
Cast into oblivion, judgment is calling
Behold the pale horse
This is the funeral of the Earth
Behold the pale horse
This is the funeral
The blind eye can no longer be cast
The clock is ticking, there is no second chance
The blind eye can no longer be cast
There will be no future, if we can't learn from our mistakes
The clock is ticking, there is no second chance
There will be no future, if we can't learn
A forced extinction closes out the age of apathy
The final act, sacrifice the world's ecology
The death of beauty, the death of hope
Cast before the throne of avarice, judgment is calling
Behold the pale horse
This is the funeral of the Earth
Behold the pale horse
This is the funeral
The blind eye can no longer be cast
There will be no future, if we can't learn from our mistakes
The clock is ticking, there is no second chance
There will be no future, if we can't learn
I can't watch it burn
Behold the pale horse
Its 2020 now and this song has become so much more relevant, especially in Australia
Especially with all these fucking fires
I saw a video of the damage; of the animals burning, the people's homes in flames, the red sky and smoke. I immediately thought of this song. Especially the line "I can't watch it burn".
Do you know how many people were arrested for starting those fires? False Flag propaganda.
it was arson
Oath mate
I love how normal these dudes look.
Totally agree, when you look at them, you don't expect them to be these epic rockers.
I know! I hate it when bands have to wear makeup and dress in all black to distract you from the fact that their music is mediocre.
TJ Deuces Maybe they like that type of wearing you know? Like PD likes this type.
True, but a lot of bands just do it for the "image".
TJ Deuces You mean like black veil brides?
This song is almost 10 years old, it's haunting looking back at a song like this knowing the ignorance of the world today and how much worse things have become since this song was brought out. We are truly living in the "Dark Days".
right?
shits been going on since the days of industrial revolution but yeah, way to be meta and shit.
And the night grows darker still 😔
All of the songs from parkway drive from 10yrs ago are hitting really good in 2023. Super anti government songs. I didn’t know how based they were back then til now. The world ain’t right, and parkway drive tried to warn us

When the breakdown started at 3:30, I headbanged so hard I've hit my head against the desk and cracked the desk. What a good song!
Hahaha =)))
fuck yeah man
For real that's fucking funny your head must be pretty fucking tough ahaha
Mate if that's your reaction, then Parkway have done their job.
almost the same, my desk didnt cracked but my computer restarted...i was so mad i almost smashed my computer intentionally after that.
ONE of the BEST metalcore songs EVER
September 2021 and im still blasting this in the car park before work. Timeless classic

My 8th grade English teacher used this song as a lesson on the cost of humanities progress, me and him were the only ones jamming out in the back of the class. Fast forward 10 years I’ve been doing metal vocals ever since and fallen in love with heavy music. I won’t name drop too hard but “Grumpy Cat” from Rafer Johnson Middle School Kingsburg CA I hope you’re living well 🤘🏼

Hands down one of their best songs made, period
And now, 7 years later, the Amazon is on fire.
How will we justify watching the World die?
It's fake news you fucktard do some research. What's burning is farmland by the farmers preparing for new crops, same pattern every year, happens the same season. Stop spreading lies. Deforestation is the real problem.
The amazon is burning to clear room for animal agriculture. If you really care then stop consuming animals.

yes. because "there will be no future if we can't learn from our mistakes".
Josh Roth Too many people like metal just because it's metal, and not for its true message. We entertain ourselves to death instead of fighting for truth.
Samuel Connett
That's deep
Samuel Connett agreed. Pop and rap songs are usually shallow. The biggest reason i love metal is specifically because the message is usually deep and meaningful and the vocals capture the deep emotions rap and pop rarely do. So many metal songs are about shit that matters and about problems in the world that need to change, SOME rap and pop songs speak of deep things but most don't whereas most metal songs do and the lyrics are more complex and interesting, the fact that rap and pop are so popular proves that most of us still aren't willing to face the deep and dark problems that plague humanity and would rather live a shallow life ignoring it all. What a sad state we're in.
Listen to Hactivist if you haven't. Good rap metal band imo.
I listened to this while taking a shower.
Most brutal shower ever

The absolute best metalcore band I've ever seen live and I've seen a lot of em in concert. Everytime they come to nashville I'm there.
I agree. Saw them a couple weeks ago and they sounded amazing
I see them in london
Who else agrees that Parkway Drive are the best metalcore band?
Rhys Mogg I don't know about "the best" metalcore band... due to the fact that there's so many of them out there but Parkway are certainly up there, along with August Burns Red! :)
Yeah love ABR. Architecs are pretty amazing too. Also, Bury Tomorrow.
As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, All That Remains
+Jared Myers (Crazymonkey1133) Classic bands, and they got there a lot longer ago. Not to take anything away from the aforementioned bands.. they all rule.
I'd think they're deathcore because they don't have any legitimate singing where All That Remains does
1:28 that "BLEGH!" sounds powerfully amazing.
I agree, so powerful. Much different from how others attempt.
First time i heard this song i went back to it 5 times before i finished the whole song....

Even almost a decade later, this song is sanctified to its very core. Almost a decade later, and this song is absolutely still relevant. I screamed "best music video ever" as the intro to this song began playing during their show at warped tour in montreal this year. People vaguely recalled the message and were like haha, oh yeah...
Winston is seriously so amazing , thumbs up if Metal bands are more friendly than Pop bands 👍
Pop is shit

All hail to Nickelback lmao
even remotely comparing metal to pop is a huge insult lmao
He is the sexiest man I ever seen. Wanna him so bad 😍
Came here after listening to "Darker still", man things have changed they are becoming softer and softer, i am a fan still but this old shit is what makes Parkway Drive one of the best band out there
LOL same here, came right after hearing that song, don't like the new stuff, way too soft.
Not that there's anything wrong with having "softer" songs though, surely? You look at some of the best Melodic metal bands out there who play heavy riffs with crunchy choruses and even they have acoustics in their songs as well. PWD from what I can hear are branching the gap between having heavy melodic songs and softer ones. Best of both world if you ask me because the softer songs will create a nice atmosphere in a live setting.
This is more relevant than ever. Their own home is burning, they can really watch it burn now...
Holy shit your right dude

Glad to see people appreciate this video and song as much as i do. These guys have always been good but this last album is fucking insanity. Growing up love hardcore and metal, i think these guys are the perfect combo. I remember when these guys where playing small hardcore shows back on their first ep. They have worked hard and came along way.
i was listening to Metalcore when i was a little kid since I grew up a little. when I left the "teen years" my taste in music changed a lot. today I turn 29 and holy fuck parkway drive still kicks ass! damn this track is fucking perfect
this is basically a metalcore version of Ready to Fall, i love it
The best metal core band there is, the passion from winston is incredible, I never tire of hearing his vocals
Tim Norman not anymore
Im coming from the future... they´ve changed a lot sadly, but still achieve big things.
Why are people complaining about BMTH in the comments? Why compare them? I love them both, Parkway were the first band to ever get me into heavy music years ago, and I've come across BMTH along the way, and now they're both my favourite bands. Sure they're different, they're meant to be. They've both been around for 10 years now and both deserve respect for how much they've contributed to the metalcore genre and the progress it's made.
that final breakdown is perfect, holy shiiiit!
It's 2022 and this song hits harder than ever.
Wow.
No makeup, no leather, no spikes.
Just casual clothing.
Finally!

Still slapping in 2019 and still no change on the earth but negative
First watching it in 2012 made me sad.
Watching it in 2022 is just so depressing :(
I agree so much with everything in this song. We need to look after our planet because we only have one, it's so beautiful and we are destroying it without a second thought about the aftermath. I am so happy Parkway Drive are such an amazing band, using their music to spread an important message.
Next to Mitch Lucker, Winston is my favorite vocalist/frontman

Ah, yes. A trip down the memory lane doesn't hurt every once in a while.
Winston is a really good person
If there is a heaven after this life, he deserved it most
This is a great song but everybody is missing the point to this song. We are fucking up our world. "Our days our numbered" is so true. Read the lyrics in the description, blast this song and make a change. \m/
Who was missing the point of the song? It's pretty clear start to finish, and if you've actually watched the video, I don't see how anyone could miss it.
Corey Morrison
You have to understand that there are A LOT of kids watching this video and are in the mindset of "Oh wow, Im so depressed, my life sucks" (despite the fact that they more than likely have a roof over their heads constanly have been given the chance to be helped if they truely are suffering from something). I think that is what MINIWEATMAN was aiming at.
KryptikCpu No one has been saying that, so his comment is still being pulled out of nowhere. Also, depression isn't as simple as that. You can have perfect opportunities offered to you and still be depressed. It's a mental illness that creeps up on anyone. Unfortunately, thanks to social media sites (I'm looking at you Tumblr), having depression has been romanticised to the point where it is almost something that people subconsciously desire. That's why we have a lot of teenagers who aren't genuinely depressed claiming that they are and probably believing it too. There's probably some that have totally convinced themselves so much so that they've actually become depressed. The mind is funny how it works like that.
Damn right that what I'm saying but!!! They do say "we inherit our fathers" sins....... Which confuses me Haha
So cool I got to crowd surf to them !!!!! & started the Mosh!!! To their end set list Carrion!!!
Their also saying we are the Pale Horse....
Take their message to heart. Everyone on this planet must take responsibility for our actions and our choices. Treat each others with respect, light and love. Take care of our beloved planet, we only have one. And the next generation born will suffer or live in paradise if we do stand up for our worlds best.
I have been in the HC scene since I was 16. I’m too old to share how long that is….you are one of my favorite bands…you need to keep pushing this message! I love your new material but we need more of the self perseverance messages for the young generation getting into the scene
These guys kill pretty much all the music that has been released in 2012. Amazing!
I start listening to these guys back in 2015 and I became and instant fan of their music. The next five years in my life were difficult but I'm glad I got Parkway Drive to motivate myself and keep going forward. I love how powerful his lyrics tend to be!

Its definitely harder to do proper false chords than to just do basic singing...
What I'm saying is is that Winston McCall is more talented than Ozzie Osborne
Who cares if they're normal or not. We here are all people that enjoy this kind of music.... but the most important thing is the lyrics to the song!!! This song has a powerful meaning behind it.
2019, Rainforests burning down...this is the first suggestion to my Playlist by YT.
I sometimes wish these guys were a deathcore band.
Like it's a big difference between Metalcore and Deathcore.
SaintPuppet[S] It is, both music-wise and lyrically. Deathcore has "darker" lyrics and uses death metal styles such as blast beats.
Lyrically it's not different, the only thing that is really different music wise are vocals...
That was not my point...You have dark metalcore bands too. Lyrics don't define music, but vocals and instruments(in this chase).
SaintPuppet[S] Debatable.
Y'all cant deny when it comes to parkway drive they have some of the best breakdowns ever made.
I havent been as involved in PWD as i once was just because i lost touch with their new sound (neu metal), but i hope that they are still writing songs that inspire, educate and makes young people passionate and conscious about the earth and how to treat it, like i once was listening to this song/album and their older catalog... this music and the frustration powering it is as necessary as ever in 2021
