Bette did a WWII era movie called For The Boys that featured a lot of this type of music.
No, Brad, this was not a govt promo, although the Andrew Sisters did promote and perform their song on their USO (entertainment) tours for our soldiers overseas. Bette was a huge fan of the AS, and used the musical style- swing "boogie woogie" as part of her musical catalog. BWBB was on her solo debut album, which was mostly cover songs. She was an amazing energetic performer in her hey day.
Heh, I and two other girls sung this for our music review in HS. We didn't dress like this, of course, we had WAC type uniforms with the hats (like the Andrews Sisters). Lots of fun.
Short recordings were necessary for radio play. More music by the hour.
So glad you also did the original with the Andrews Sisters!!! You should do the whole video.
