For joe, this was a long time coming, as it was always his lifelong ambition to be President. Trump, in his insensitive ignorance, said that Biden never accomplished anything in his years as a politician, but Obama listed numerous positive things about him. It is entirely possible that, unlike the indistinguished presidency of Donald Trump, Joe Biden is still meant for great things. Yes, it will be challenging,but he seems to welcome it.

I tend conservative. Didn’t agree with some policies. But I have to tell you- I posted this video on the day he recieived it and can’t wait until it pops up on my memories on FB. I cry each time I see his reaction. If he would’ve ran in 16 - I would’ve probably voted Democrat that year. I know the Presidents give them out at “their pleasure”...I know celebs get them and others as well. But even when I wasn’t a fan of some policies and voted a different way that year- I felt it was deserved for him to receive it. Loving a country is not unique to just one party. Giving a lifetime of service is not unique or appreciated if it’s just for someone you agree with politically. He absolutely deserved this. And he absolutely will get my faith and support to start off this next 4 years. I know I won’t agree with everything - but I would rather disagree and respect someone than agree on some things but absolutely hate their demeanor and personality. (Ok I’ll get off my soapbox - but my whole point is that right at that moment you point out- it hits me in the feels and you see just a man- no politics- just a man who truly appreciated the moment and the weight of the award.). If memory serves me correctly- they simply said that Obama was going to say some nice things and give Joe a public send off and never tipped him off that it would be a send off with this type of magnitude.
