As far as energy goes. Why are solar, wind, and Nuclear the only options talked about. There would only be for Earth. But Geo-thermal for planets and moons with volcanoes. And Hydro-Thermal for Planets and moons with flowing liquid. These both work on Earth. They are green, and they can run 24/7 for decades with little maintenance. And it doesn't matter how far you are from the sun. Yes, they take a lot longer to build, and they cost more. But solar and wind are very limited. Both of these can start small and grow as the population and need for electricity grows. Not all Hydro needs to The Hoover Dam or the dam at Niagara Falls. There are plenty of saw mills that put a water wheel in a river. On Venus, you don't even need to dig. Cloud cities (at 30 miles up) could drop hoses down, and pump a fluid through the hoses. How far down or how thick the hose would be...I don't know. The electricity from these are never ending. They don't need to be refueled, scalable and no waste.

I like his comments about nuclear energy, but I don’t have as much faith in Cold War relic reactor design as he seems to have. I’ve offered wonder is actually impeding the advancement nuclear technology.

The used spaceship concept is problematic for me. Sure, a used car could be 1/10 the cost of a new one. The stakes are vastly different if my car breaks down, or if a spaceship blows a seal 3 months in. There would be significant refitting cost to do on a used spaceship because if the ship was still cost effective to run by the original owner they would still be using it.
