Bike Build | 2020 Specialized Fuse

  • čas přidán 28. 09. 2020
  • This is my 2020 Specialized Fuse build that I approached with a different goal than my previous bike builds: to keep the budget down. There aren't any carbon bits and this bike doesn't feature a top-tier drivetrain. Instead, I chose mid-range components such as a Shimano SLX drivetrain and a Marzocchi Bomber Z1 fork. That isn't to say that this bike isn't a worthy machine, it is really well put together and there is a lot of cohesion between all of the components.
    With any frame-up build, everyone has different thoughts on how it should be built up. What do you think? What would you have done differently?
    PARTS LIST:

    Is this frame same as the current offering(2022)? What is the max fork travel/AtoC on the fuse?

    • @BikesNotDrugs

      I can’t find the answer anywhere online.

    So the derailleur housing magically routed itself through the frame?

    @9:00 that's the wrong cable routing for the rear derailleur.

    Anybody know where he got the frame? I've been trying to build a custom bike and I can't find a company/website that colors and sells just frames.

    • @JustinVelo
      @JustinVelo  Před 3 lety +1

      Specialized offered a frame only Fuse for 2020 models but haven’t released one for 2021.

    So I’m going to whistler for a few days later this year and I’m debating weather to get a nice hard tail so I can ride my local trails or whether to get an enduro bike. I need help on this thanks

    • @JustinVelo
      @JustinVelo  Před 3 lety

      That’s a tough call. If you mostly ride trails where a hardtail is appropriate, it might make sense to save money and get a well-built hardtail. Are you considering an Enduro bike just for Whistler? If so, could you rent an Enduro bike for that weekend?

      @@JustinVelo yeah I was thinking about that but I’m going to Moab and all of these other places but it is only for one trip and I don’t want to spend 1000 dollars to rent bikes

      I’ve done Moab twice on a Stumpjumper and I was glad I had full suspension!

    Wow, I didn't know that 29x2.8 fit on that frame!
    How's the chainstay clearance and the BB height?

    • @JustinVelo
      @JustinVelo  Před 3 lety +1

      With the adjustable dropouts, chainstay clearance is no problem.

      Just updated the description with a parts/price list. Let me know if you have any questions about what I chose.

    Can i ask it is possible to set up the fork with 150mm? Which offset do you use 44mm or 51mm?

    • @JustinVelo
      @JustinVelo  Před 3 lety +4

      It’s definitely possible, as long as you are happy with the subsequent geometry change. I have been really happy with 140mm up front and would be curious how a 150 feels. I use the reduced offset.
