CSX Power Leads NS 65K! - Latrobe PA

We're at CP TROBE at Latrobe, PA on Norfolk Southern's Pittsburgh Line. A rare thing is seen in this video - two CSX engines are leading a westbound tanker train through town. Non-NS engines don't lead out here often because of cab signals, but these CSX engines had compatible cab signals and were sent west leading. Talk about rare! Filmed February 24, 2024.

I’m glad to see somebody caught it in Latrobe. I had to work this morning, and when I saw it on the HSC cam, I figured I would miss it. Great catch!

Nice catch. I'm in Alabama now, but still check on vids from my hometown in Westmoreland County. Question: Where is this in relation to the bridge that spans the Loyalhanna Creek?

I was about 50 yards to the west of the bridge. You can see the railing for the bridge in the distance.

Not uncommon to see them trailing. It's very rare to see anything besides NS power leading out here due to cab signals. Some CSX engines, like these ones, have compatible cab signals, so they can lead. Definitely few and far between though. Thanks for watching!
