the actual genre is called dark wave I think. Very small genre. I think the biggest band in it is Katatonia, and they aren't even that big. They started as progressive doom/death and had a very opeth-y sound, mainly because their first album is done almost entirely be Mikael Akerfeldt.

I think katatonia is not good as doom metal like in the old days, i think they became greater and greater after all the years but as doom,i dont like them very much... i prefer the new type of sound... Like LFDGD and Discouraged ones... that the awsome stuff... but well i love the songs murder, brave, dancing december, rainroom the rest is more from the same. BTW i love katatonia one of my favourite bands and it´s just my opinion and like others opions it worths what it worths
