    I bought this album when it came out in 2006. I was in high school. CZcams was super new back then. It is one of the best metal albums ever, and katatonia's best. Every single song in this album is killer. Back then, I gave the album to my friends. They never stopped listening to them since. One of them still has it lying around after 16 years. I know people love the vocalist. But man .. the guitarist is PHENOMENAL. One of metal's best in my opinion. Also, the bass lines are monumental. They don't make music like this anymore.

    The power and artistry of this band cannot be expressed, matched or compared. Every year I find more meaning and depth in Katatonia's music. It is quite incredible that such refined music is written and composed in our base epoch. Renkse and Nystrom are two poetic visionaries who gave us some of the most beautiful and sad songs ever written. A case in point: the paradoxical warmth of this chilling, heart-breaking master piece. "I see the bright lights, it's the month of July." Ohhhhh...

    I've seen Katatonia live in SLC and they were so amazing LIVE!! Jonas voice is both powerful and calming at the same time!! The Old Hearts Fail Tour was nothing short of CONCERT PERFECTION!!!

    He conocido hace poco a Katatonia y me parecen espectaculares, la estructuración de sus temas, el desarrollo de éstos , la complejidad , sus paradas y sus colores , espectaculares.

    Haven't listened to Katatonia in a long time, and this was a nice piece to my morning :D I love the contrast between the bass/guitars and keys. Classic doom elements

    2:50 always gets me pumped, gotta love the heavy side of Katatonia \M/

      No I just meant heavy, and I know they used to be more leaned to Black Metal back in the day but I meant their usual sound that's focused on clean vocals and Alternative/Gothic/Doom Metal, as they don't really
      have heavy riffs or breakdowns tbh but songs like this are one of their heavier examples (and songs like Forsaker)

      midnight_storm_(vǫrðr) dude, people have different opinions of heavy. Your opinion isn't the only correct one in the world

    • @lordiblees
      @lordiblees Před 7 lety +2

      midnight_storm It IS heavy. Just because it's open-note chugging doesn't mean it's not heavy. And it's as far away to deathcore as it could be. Gojira and Meshuggah are two of the heaviest bands in the world with chugging like that.

    • @ThyHarvesting
      @ThyHarvesting Před 7 lety

      tbh the heaviest genres I've heard using guitars would be Brutal Death Metal and Slam. Gojira is amazing but I wouldn't say their style is heavy af, it's more progressive whilst Meshuggah always delivers that poly-rhythmic down tuned guitar that many modern Prog Metal/Djent bands took inspiration from.

      Gojira's first two albums are as heavy as it gets. Satan is a lawyer's latter half for instance..

    2023, here. Personally, I'm not in love with this... but I feel like this is super underrated. I'm just now hearing this and I've loved bands in this realm for half my life. I'm sad I'm just now hearing, lmao. Doesn't matter. Good tunes, good vibes! Well written!
