Nicholas Walker, professor of double bass at Ithaca College, plays his transcription of Méditation from the opera, Thaïs, by Jules Massenet with Nick Weiser at the piano.
At the time of this recordning I think I had a Thomastik Bel Canto on top, and two Thomastik Spirocore solo 1/2 sized bass strings in the middle (tuned down to Orchestra tuning). The long C is a Velvet Compas 180. Today I've got a full set of Velvet Compas, except the long C is a Compas 360.
Beautifull perfomance!! Can I ask where I can get the scores? I need to play it next year for exam, but scores is too hard to find. You will help me a lot if you have it
Thanks so much! I learned my part by ear from violin recordings, and just used a violin score for the piano part. However I have seen a Hal Robinson version of this that might still be available for purchase. Maybe you can check at Robertson Violin Shop?
Wow... can't be better than this with Double Bass.. amazingly played Sir!
WOW ON THE D BASS!!!! I'm a cellist and my gosh that's hard enough! He totally tames that bass♥️
