- Our CZcams channel is now 4 years old, from since we started after college, to today! This video making journey has been long, and wasn’t always easy, where board game reviews would initially get almost no views. But as we continued to make more and more tabletop videos with component and mechanic analysis, the channel grew. Board games like Gloomhaven, Eldritch Horror, and Brass Birmingham have helped slowly get more subscribers. And a couple of videos actually went viral, like the 7 levels of board gaming! This is all great stuff for our business/company youtube channel, and there’s lots more to come!

No exaggeration, I find your channel to easily be the best in the current youtube board game space. As you said in this video, you are having fun doing what you're doing and that comes across so strongly in your content. Informative, honest, thoughtful, and funny is a winning combination. As a fellow Asian American, I'll say we need to chase the dreams we have, not just one the ones we're expected or allowed to have. Do what you cherish as long as you think you can, and never apologize for that.

I think your editing and script skills are what really made me take notice of your channel a few years ago. You really use CZcams as a medium to its fullest. There are so many different shots, each adding to the review, this extra work does not go unappreciated. Like even this video is a great example. In the first shot, if this was like most board game channels, it would just be a shot of you talking to the camera the whole video, with maybe few cut aways to stuff throughout the video. In the first shot of this video there are five post production overlays and a previous video recommendation, including a cutaway to another shot for no reason other than to reinforce a meta element to the viewer (job). And that's not even really the start of the video. This starting shot doesn't even come back until 5:15, it's amazing

I really enjoy listening to your thoughts on board games. I smile when you lose patience on missed opportunties in a game. So maybe people out there might hire you as a play tester and get you into creative pursuits of design. I feel you are doing the best thing (trying different things which keeps you growing and motivated). That is what I also learned to do in my 20s well into my 40s as my career changed. Teaching board games just happens tobe a,way i can give back.The same way your videos help me see thing in a different light (and avoid the lemons i may play 4 to 5 times then shelf. Thank you.

I remember back in 2020 when Jason let me know you were making board game videos through hackreactor SF after I gave a intro talk to modern board games. I was so enthused to find out about a Bay Area based board game content creator! Been a fan ever since!
I gave up the bachelors in business administration college path and transferred to art school with the blessings of my parents, but I had a lot of friends who didn't have as much support going after what they really wanted to do. As an Asian American old enough to be your dad (hah!) I'm beyond happy to see you folks chase your dreams and do what *feels right*, not just what is expected of you. Your videos are some of my favorites and we're all looking forward to seeing what you cook up next. Congratulations!

Very interesting video, first off I still find it crazy to me that I can come across a channel with 10s of thousands subs that I have never seen before. This gives me hope for my channel. Second I recently made a reflection video after I trying to be a boardgame CZcamsr for two months. This obviously was of great interest to me. Really appreciate your perspective and story as it is encouraging for someone like my self growing a channel from scratch. Good luck on your journey!

I love your content, and your board game plug table was so well done. Business is hard, I have experience of spending thousands of dollars with little return. Just keep going, love your stuff. Do you do standup for open mic at clubs? I think you will be really good at it, just make jokes about board games and your experiences. You must have ton of materials. I am a banker after business school, and the career is so much fun in its own ways, I get to play money themed board game in real life, life is wonderful, you can do no wrong as long as you are just keep going. Would be curious to hear more about the financial side of things. I would expect a channel with around 3M views would generate around 30k all time from ads. This is definitely not enough to live on for 4 years. Just curious how you can sustain doing this full-time. Since you didn't really cover that in the video.
