- Hi everyone, I am here with a new vlog, on the topic " All you need to know, before joining BSc in BIOTECHNOLOGY - Career after 12th, Eligibility, jobs, career, subjects".
I chose this topic, cause I figured out that a lot of myths and misconceptions still prevail in our society regarding the subject and there is lack of clarity amongst the students opting for it. So me being a graduate in Biotechnology, for a premier college in India, considered to be the best for Biotechnology. I thought to take an initiative to clear the myths and let you all know about the interesting, and vast subject of Biotechnology. So I have covered in this video about the eligibility criteria, subjects studied, time lapse, degrees after BSC, job prospectives, salary, and the cities with have biotechnological firms. I have also discussed about the job scope abroad and how MBA can also be pursued after graduation.

@@chandrachurghosh2981 Try to do with top government colleges or universities like JNU, DU, BHU etc.
I searched but BHU doesn't offer Bsc.Biotechnology as it was given on their website and neither DU offers Bsc.Biotechnology, there are other life science courses in DU and lastly jnu also doesn't offer undergraduate biotechnology course. They offer masters course in biotechnology, you too can check it out.
Even many universities in South India doesn't offer undergraduate biotechnology course, they only give MSc.Biotechnology.
Institutions like SRM Chennai, Chandigarh University and LPU offer Bsc.Biotechnology and they hold a good name in this where as SRM & CU are one of the best private biotechnology college in India.

Hello mam I wanted to know about govt colleges for biotechnology (btech) and their entrance examination or other state exams for admission in govt colleges which is reputed as well as good.
Hey, for Btech Biotechnology, sit for the IIT and AIEEE and state engineering exams, once you get the rank and score, go for further councelling, and then check the reputation of that govt college in case of Biotechnology and their placement scenarios and all. Hope this works all the best👍

hi!! I'm someone who has been interested in bsc biotech. But im wondering if there are any service sector oriented jobs related to biotech. I need to decide between biotech and MBBS or other medical sector degrees and while repeating NEET exam isnt something i look forward to i cant help but feel like i'll miss out on the chance to help a lot of people and gain that sort of job satisfaction. I've been torn over this decision for a while and with deadlines approaching quickly i just. dont really know what to do anymore.

Mathematics as a subject is there in the 1st year of BSc Biotechnology and there are various mathematical calculations involved in the subject of Biotechnology. 3rd year of BSc Biotechnology has a subject Biomedical engineering, it has a lot of maths involved. In MSc there are mathematical calculations and the subject of Bioinformatics involves lil maths and computers.
You will get a job in Biotechnology companies , where salary can range btw 15k to 40k.
Mam I currently in last year of bsc Bio-Technology and I'm confused between food technology and bioinformatics can u please tell me which has better scope in terms of job

No, people with just Bsc in Biotechnology do not get jobs, the only and mostly they get jobs of a lab technician.
Go for Btech, from a good college, then you will get good placements

Hii, for Manipal, you need to clear the ENAT exam of Manipal. You need to fill up the form which usually is out in the month of January (exact date and month, you can confirm from the college website). Then the examination will be online, may be in the month of April. Then according to your performance and rank and avaibility, you will be called or informed for admission.
Well good colleges, there are pretty good biotechnology colleges in Bangalore, Mumbai, Vellore, etc. During my graduation days Manipal was the best one for Biotechnology and I guess even today it is....like if you ask me any day according to my personal experience I will always say it's the best, in terms of all aspect.😊👍

Hi Jayanthi, happy to know that my video is helpful to you. You asked about the two universities. See, both of them are good. Being an alumni of Manipal, I can tell you more about manipal than VIT. Manipal first of all is a university town, so studying there is like you live at a place which has only students, and colleges, and hostels, and things required by the students. The entire university town has been designed for the students. Manipal has great infrastructure, and single and double occupancy hostels are available.( For me hostel is a great factor beside studies cause at the end of the day you need a calm environment for self study). School of life science has great professors, they are all highly educated and are a part of numerous on going research in the department. Infrastructure of School of life sciences is good, labs are very very well equipped. You will never fall short of any materials to carry on practicals, researches. Added advantage is, school of life sciences has it's own animal house too, and as the university has Asia's largest medical library, so all the reference books, research articles are available easily. If a person is really interested in studying biotechnology, he/she will never fall short of resources here, be it any form, rest is all on the student, how much effort he or she puts. Self study and hard work is required to excel.
Regarding VIT's infrastructure and studies you can consult any pass out student or visit their official online site, compare the details for yourself and then take a decision which suits you the best.

In Hyderabad, I know of Central University Hyderabad, which offers MSc Biotechnology which is the best.
But for BSc Biotechnology go for MAHE Manipal or VIT Vellore.

For MAHE Manipal, there is an entrance exam called ENAT, forms will be out in January, Exam will be held in March and April, based on cutoff marks, and your score you will be called because seats are very limited.
There might be an interview and then you will get admission.

Manipal University is in Manipal Karnataka, which has Biotechnology department.
Manipal has a few colleges in Mangalore and Bangalore, but not in Pune.

Yes there is orgnaic , inorganic chemistry in first year Then physical chemistry in secone one & biochemistry throughout the course

Ma'am . I had PCB subject in 12th class and i am quite weak in mathematics and physics. I have scored 89.75 percent in isc board but i think that was because of my memorizing power only . This course was suggested to me by my uncle . My knowledge regarding this subjects is of 12th class biology level only and i am very confused about whether i should opt it or not . Please give me some suggestion regarding it. It would be really helpful to me .
If you can memorise well, you will excel here as well. Because there is a lot and a lot of understanding of the concept required in this field along with the super power of memorising. Intelligence+ memorising capacity can even make you a topper in this field. And if you have genuine interest in this subject you can do wonders in research and add some value to the existing research going on.

Hi, Directly by applying in colleges , private colleges you can get into a college, study Bsc MSc genetics, or biotechnology, then move towards US for PHD and research .

If you want to pursue MSc from Central Universities or IITs, then prepare for IIT JAM exam. This exam has a syllabus of entire Biotechnology and is not that easy. Get previous years papers.
If you want to do it from private college, then target colleges of Bangalore, Manipal, VIT etc.
You can pursue it from AIIMS too, they have courses with similar or different name, and has a seperate exam too.
You can even do it from abroad from Germany. For that choose the college, apply, submit research work, face interviews and then get admission.

Ma'am, Is the department of biotechnology good in BHU? Although BHU has a very good name already , I wanted to know the opinion regarding biotechnology department(MSc).
BHU is very prestigious, I personally don't know much about the Biotechnology department there.

Mam how about M.Sc Integrated Biotechnology [5 year course] after 12th? Does it have a good scope? and pls tell some good Universities/Colleges on this field

I guess it all depends upon you ,some students change their course after bsc or do job , buisness , etc & if u do integrated course then after 5 years you can do something
It was really helpful mam , but we are still confused 😕 as we have completed our HSC in pandemic and we were going to pursue bsc in biotechnology,and many are saying that this field not have more scope . On the other hand about b pharma same in that, we should pursue masters for better opportunities.

What are your subjects in HSC, if you have mathematics also along with PCB then you can even opt for Btech from a good college with good placement history to avoid any unwanted struggles in life.

Great video. My niece wants to take up this course as she is passionate about it. She got selected in VIT Vellor for MSC (integrated) Biotechnology course. ANy idea if it is a good college for this course? also she did Biology, Physics and Chemistry in +2 so she is worried to take up Btech Biotech bcoz of maths….will that be a challenge? Her plan is to study aborad post MSC….Thanks again….
Hii, VIT VELLORE, is a reputed institution, good for Bsc, MSc Biotechnology, as I have few friends , who studied from there and they say so. They got placed after MSc Biotechnology from VIT which is a good thing.
Without Mathematics, do they allow BTech?? If yes, then it would be a challenge only in case of Mathematics, because it will be taught and there will be chapters like Differentiation, Integration, and such topics which are actually the syllabus of class 12th mathematics.
