Bought an 04 fiesta £1125 for the kids as a learner car 6 years ago. Its now on 120k and drives sweet as a nut. They are such good little cars, drives so well with very well balanced control. Can leave it for month and it just starts instantly. Only problem is leaking cam cover , put new gasket and sealant but it still leaks over the camshaft cog area as it has a snapped bolt. Still apart from the odd drip , just annoying. When I bought it put on new discs and pads, fluid flush, plugs and rear springs, rear silencer,. Since then not needed anything apart from set of Dunlop. Not bad for 40k of use, kids still love it.

Cars like this do make quite a bit of sense. Once they've made it to this age and mileage, pretty much anything likely to fail has already done so and been repaired, so the car often has a good few years of life in it as a household runabout or first car for a son or daughter. Plus these days, anything up at £995 with a new MOT will fly out the door. Just don't sell it to anyone coming out of a lease car. Their expectations are up in the clouds and they will be a right royal pain in the arse when the inevitable happens.

I have the same car Ford Fiesta, I was dealing with a similar problem. I recommend checking the large gray connector in the engine compartment, it is located at the connection point of the engine with the gearbox (the bigger cable harness connecting the engine sensors to the control unit). The cable harness runs under the battery box towards the radiator. Moisture gets into the connector and the contacts corrode, you need to use a contact cleaner. In my case it solved my problem. Good luck 👍 PS: My Fiesta has over half a million kilometers on it.

i think cars like this and people like you are so important....the car is affordable and up to standard for safe motoring....and you make this possible....the planet is protected from the throw away society ...because of the effort you put in to give these cars several more years of life....back in the 70s and 80s we didnt change our cars like the weather....we kept them going as finance was hard to come by

we made just pver 400 on the car and sold it to a guy who works over the road as his car broke down and kept a decent car going for a few more years so i am happy with that. book time is about 4 hours but we would throw this on a ramp and do it between jobs as we are running a garage so you tinker with it throughout the day so as not loose paying work elsewhere.

The scrap was £275 and I offered it to the garage for the same money. They didn't want to know. It's a real shame as they could have sorted it for well under £500 and sold someone a cheap run around and made a profit. I whish more dealers/traders thought like you.
