@@Reddylion I didn’t wait for the Juniper bc of how low the price was. I got the MYLR for $44,090 MSRP. Basic black interior. New Stealth grey paint for free obv. 19 wheels. No upgrades.
For me, it was the right time as well as my trade in would only depreciate more when Juniper releases next year. So I pulled the trigger. I may regret it, but I’m also happy rn w the deal I got. Interest rates suck tho.

Coming from an ice car, the model Y offers plenty of tech and EV driving experience to still make plunge. The value of the Y is amazing. Under $40k out the door if you find the right discounted inventory model.
We had to replace our model 3 Sr+ Battery after 55k. Living in Canada with colder weather LFP does not sound like a good idea. We already don't get any where near the est 350km we were promised. As well Tesla offered us 12k below market value to trade up to a new model 3. Take it ir leave it no negotiation at all. So much for it being an appreciating car as Elon said😮

Tesla should add more color choices. I’m still waiting for quicksilver and midnight cherry to drop in the US. People don’t see their desired color so they bypass which is why Tesla has a heavy inventory load.

Even though they raised their prices before going into the Christmas discount period, so is that 60% really a discount from the average price the entire year? Likely not....

You should mention that the $7500 tax rebate is still available when you lease. I just leased a 2024 Model 3 and Tesla is applying that rebate across the lease term.

@zenl6063 I don't mind at all. What I was told was that they reduce the monthly payment by 1/36 (in my case, with a 36 month lease) of $7500.

Am I sure that the rebate is available when you lease? Yes. Am I sure that the rebate is spread out over the term of the lease? That's what Tesla says it does.
The signs of how bad the sales goes just keeps coming. Also price "increase" in Europe (of course, they will lower the prices then, again). A classic FOMO trick.
As a person who like to camp in their car (2019TM3) on climbing trips, the LFP battery wouldn't be optimal because sometimes I can't stay plugged in to keep the battery at 100%. This may not have a real world impact because I go on trips twice a year.

I’m a new driver and buying my first car (Tesla model 3) curious what models 2018-2024 ppl drive and the biggest gripe about the car so far?
Just ordered my Tesla Model Y this evening. I found one for $44,600, plus we get 12.5k in incentives in Colorado and we are trading in our Model 3. Out the door for about $25k, couldn't pass that up. I think we will trade our Subaru in at the end of Q4 for another Model Y, because the Colorado 5k incentive decreases in 2025. Then we will trade in our Model Ys in Q2 or Q4 of 2025 for the refreshed Y. So far, our Model 3 ended up costing us nothing to drive for 9 months and 15k miles in Colorado because of the incentives. It has been a great car.

How does it make sense to increase the price of the MY while inventories keep increasing? Threatening an impending price hike seems like a myopic way to juice sales. What’s gonna happen in Q2?
From what I've heard about LFP battery packs on Teslas, they actually get less range than the regular Li-ion battery pack. In fact I've heard that a LFP pack charged to 100% gets about the same range as a Li-ion pack charged to 80%. Plus they top out at about 170 KW fast charge rate compared to the 250 KW that Li-ion packs can take. Coupled with the heavier weight and poorer cold weather performance, I'm not sure how enticing it would really be to choose LFP for a replacement pack.
What If the life expectancy is 4x?
LFP packs are more robust and are a more proven technology already. They are easier to scale and the materials required are easier to procure and buy. The materials are also slightly better for the environment. LFP doesnt need cobalt nickel or manganese, materials than are harsher on the environment when humans mines them. NMC (nickel manganese cobalt) and NCA (nickel coblat aluminum) batteries are the forefront of battery tech today. Just not as proven.
Here’s a wiki paragraph:
“Iron and phosphates are very common in the Earth's crust. LFP contains neither nickel nor cobalt, both of which are supply-constrained and expensive. As with lithium, human rights and environmental concerns have been raised concerning the use of cobalt. Environmental concerns have also been raised regarding the extraction of nickel.”
The question of battery chemistry isn’t necessarily what’s the best performer, it’s more like what is the best/easiest chemistry to scale for mass market production that can also allow us to buy less carbon credits, etc. Also reliability is a big part of a car purchase and reputation for manufacturers. LFP packs could turn into what the 4 cylinder engine has become for gas cars. Easy to scale and “good enough” for the common person’s needs.

All this stock holder/referral credit Cybertruck ordering offers has me wondering why my truck is still waiting for a VIN. I owned over 1000 shares and haven't heard squat form them other than to put down a $1,000 non refundable deposit.

For more than 100k, I would go with MB car. Got a good dealer. Good customer service. Long time car maker. But you got to have at home 48A charger. It does suck the power off the battery. Got to charge EVERY NIGHT.

From the sounds of it, i feel like it's pretty clear that the Roadster is being pivoted to be an eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) vehicle. That space is in it's infancy and starting to take off now with companies like Joby, Archer, and Alef (Which is partly backed by Space X). I think this is Elon hinting but not explicitly saying that's what they're doing. And it's kinda the only thing that makes sense for them to do to really differentiate the Roadster from the Model S Plaid.

The hint is the roadster is a drone like vehicle known as an evtol. If made correctly, compact, with 10 to 1 thrust to weight ratio maintained, they would be beast. The jetson, sadly, only achieves a 2 to 1 ratio, they say 3 to 1 but its less then that.
I think there’s a bigger market for the $250,000 Roadster than you might think!

Elon's mental status needs to be questioned based on many of his recent "comments". They even might serve as a deterrent to purchasing a Tesla if it were not such a good EV. As far as their decision to delay the Juniper Y...stupid. The old version will stack up with nowhere to go since the company cannot off load them on dealers. Maybe the solution will be to sell them at cost or less just to get them off the shelf.
No need for new Model Y. Just like there was no reason for the "new" model 3. New model 3 looks a lot worse than the "old" one. Just boring, bland, pointless design. And a lot of new features on new model 3 are just pointless and controversial, like removal of indicators stalk. The only actual improvement was some suspension changes, but that could have been easily done on the "old" car. No need for new Model Y, what Tesla should do instead is to FIX all the issues current Model Y has: further improve quality control, fix all sources of creaking noises in cabin, fix paint quality ( paint is stone chipped way too easily). A version without stupid, pointless glass roof would be very good too.
Of course Tesla should have done this before...but they didn't and they won't. Thus the need for the Juniper version with better suspension, quieter cabin and ventilated seats. And yes, they didn't need a total revision to do these things.
Offering people the chance to jumping the Cybertruck queue line pushes the rest of us back even further. I don't think its fare that I should be pushed back in the queue because I'm not famous, rich, or a US citizen. I've been waiting for two years and have no idea how much longer I would have to wait. I'm seriously looking to cancel my reservation since my place in the queue is totally meaningless.

I’ve been driving my M3 since May 1st of 2023 and I haven’t experienced phantom breaking 🤷🏾♂️
@JJohnson313 happens in my 2019 M3P all the time. If you're following a vehicle, it rarely happens. If it's overcast, it happens less. Prime conditions in my experience are a clear road (at least 1/4 mile ahead) and sunny conditions. If the windshield in front of the camera isn't clean, it'll happen more frequently. If it's clean, it happens less, but still happens.

So many reasons. My Plaid was riddled with design flaws and stupid design choices. I took them to lemon law arbitration and won. They had to buy it back from me. The entire yoke is a dangerous joke with no benefit. Shifting on the screen is also stupid and dangerous. His obsession with getting rid of all the buttons and knobs is just downright dangerous. That car made me take my eyes off the road 10 times more than any other vehicle I've ever owned. The interior quality was crappy. I could go on and on...
