He made a 350lb man tap out ..what r u talking about . Look for it and youll see( David vs Goliath Smittywit).This is small for him. Also beat a dude almost 6ft 190lbs. In this game it's mostly technique ,tricks,timing etc. Weight can play a role but if you have everything else.. the weight can be used against you. I'm sure McCall also took this fight cause he knows about him.

I love this for so many reasons. First reason is seeing someone comfortable on their feet take someone down that was planning on pulling and playing guard. Then end up getting pressured and come up with a new game plan. Awesome match.

I’ve seen Smitty dismantle bigger guys, he got outclassed and fought a real fighter, nothing wrong with it, he doesn’t all the time. He got a well deserved humbling.
Coz I’m old school I prefer to watch a competitor who has achieved a high level of success and or accolades share their experience after… but this new wave of ego ingested existential rise of “greatness” just seems to lack humility… I know he’s your boy which is why your for him and he is no doubt a talent but I think there’s a fine of respect comes from a champion who listens to others and shares their experience to help… a lot of what we see nowadays is narcissistic… I trained with Victor Estima for a year and he would chat to me and take an interest in me and other students out of interest…. That’s greatness right there… all the best to smitty 🙏🏽⭐️

Mcall was simply too big and too strong not to mention he was the n the UFC. Smitty fought extremely well for someone who was that outsized, outmuscled and out experienced. Smitty did well just to no get tapped by someone with so many more advantages

A lot of people don’t follow mma closely. Ian McCall gave Mighty Mouse one of his only loses. Won every round and the judges messed up the scoring completely. I think they got the name wrong and gave it to Mighty Mouse. Mighty Mouse won the next fight though.
Just in case you slept on how good he really is. Those judo trips are spectacular though. Sheesh!
Ian won the 3rd round almost in 10-8 fashion. DJ won the first 2.

Strength difference was the only factor here. Technique is obsolete to power. Would be a better match if they were at the same level of strength but overall good match 👍🏾

It wouldn’t make a difference, Ian is a BJJ black belt and a state champion wrestler. Ian took the easiest route and relied on his strength to overpower Smitty and it worked fine. If they were even in size, he would’ve probably just relied more on his technique but he didn’t need to this time.

For anyone else who comes into this thread with ignorance.. The bigger guy is a BJJ black belt and the smaller guy is a blue belt. It's an experience, AND weight mismatch but Smitty still managed to put on a show. He is genuinely skilled even despite this loss. If they were the same weight and strength, it's not farfetched to imagine that Smitty could even have won outright.

It's very far fetched. Smitty has good sub defense and guard retention, but he has no answer for basic knee slice and smash passes. McCall didn't hit those because of size, it was superior technique.
@@rosstrent1877 I don't know about that. Every single technique benefits a ton from size and strength. Its hard for me to fathom that Smitty is completely unaware of how to deal with those two basic techniques with the caliber of people he's already gone against. With that said, my theory that he could've won if they were similar sizes exists because he still managed to last the whole fight, getting out of every bad position, and every time he would start on a leg entanglement, Ian would just get up altogether and run away as if he was scared of them. But we won't really ever know so it whatever. I've already stopped caring for the most part.

@@mahjidtarantino499not necessary. Roll with black belt (which Ian is) and see how little they work you. Jiujitsu is called the gentle art for a reason, you are supposed to flow with the roll. Ian only put out the amount of energy necessary to win, which he was successful at.

Well if it was a real fight he would have been getting punched in the face the whole time. This is why I don't promote the bottom game style like 10the planet. I love sick jiu jitsu, but finesse is beaten with brutality. Top game, simple smash, wear them out, gravity never gets tired. Good game plan and execution. With no time limit the bottom guy gets subbed here.

Theoretically, Ian should've tapped this guy out in a couple of minutes with the experience mismatch. The fact Smitty did as well as he actually did do is a testament to his skill level. I'm a purple belt and Ian would've had me on that first exchange for sure (I also weigh more than Smitty and I'm sure I'm physically stronger).
