If you put isopropyl alcohol on your finger you can smooth the silicone perfectly. The alcohol prevent the silicone from attaching to your skin

Here's a better idea if you want it to look perfect. Tape off the paint to create a nice line, then fill it like the video, smooth it out with your finger and latex glove, let it dry just a bit and peel up the tape.

Although this may repair the problem it will also cause a problem. It will now trap moisture in , and rot the windshield frame. This repair is fine if your getting rid of the vehicle within a few years though. Windshield adhesives are actually a permeable breathable glue. They expand and contract also . Silicone is not.

Using any silicone around the pench weld will create moisture that will create rust this will not fix a leak . The mouldings in the corners has nothing to do with the seal it is just for looks. The urethane seal is under the glass .

As someone mentioned it is a good idea to tape off painted area and windscreen that you don't want siliconed and use popsicle stick to press silicone into windscreen seal crevice. smooth it out leaving drain as free as possible.
